  • Seems legit

  • @annaric. It seems that his anger allowed him to push the boundries of the powers past what he thought what he was able to achieve. But then again the fact that his father states how forbidden it is to interfear with earths timeline inforces that he knew of this ability. So in fact he was fast enought to stop those missles. So fast in fact the he warp sped back in time to prevent the launch from ever occuring.

  • Random Superman fact:

Superman actually met his real father Kal-El when Steel and professor Hamilton invented a device that allowed him to go back to Krypton days before the place exploded. He went back and was able to meet his father days before the explosion.

  • He's fast enough to travel faster than the speed of light, but not fast enough to catch to Nukes flying in two different directions!?!

  • @Anarric you watched that 'how superman should have ended' didnt you?

  • Wouldn't reversing the rotation of the Earth create mega-tsunamis that would kill tens of millions in the process?

  • @sapher2020 haha yeah it probley would but hey its the 70s.they didnt really have the knowlage of today

  • @sapher2020 Well, i always thought it was because he was moving faster than the spped of light :/ and the rotations of the earth was just a visual thing :P but hey, thats just me :)

  • @sapher2020 he didnt reverse rotation of earth, he traveled faster than a speed of light which made him travel back in time, time travel made it look to him like earth rotation is being reversed.

  • @jamariooo Flying at the speed of light actually makes you go FORWARD in time not backward. But at the end of the day the man is FLYING which is far more obsured. So really it makes criticising this scene mute.

  • Goku disliked this

  • @mina319 (grin) DB live action movie isnt this great either LOL

  • LOL. noh funny.

  • Easy answer, gravitational and vector time dialation.

  • lol

  • this defies the laws of physics EVEN IN THE CARTOON WORLD. so yeah supeman can puch a hole in the fabric of time and space but its very unrealistic for him to do this .

  • @EmoRebecca18 At the end of the day the most unrealistic thing is the fact he is FLYING with no propulsion system. So while this is technically incorrect, it's pretty pointless to say this is unrealistic seeing as he is FLYING which is rather more glaringly obvious.

  • If SOPA gets passed, this is what I'm going to do.

  • This is the only video of this scene that I can find on Youtube...We all feel this way at some point in our lives...If I had the powers that superman had... Well, Who knows how different lifewould be.. Thank you for posting... All the best with the future..

  • How does he keep his hair so still flying at that speed?

  • Superman's reaction to the SOPA bill

  • that doesnt look so silly since december 7th of 2011 (this post will be famous) hehe

  • Yes but but can he rock a party til the early light?

  • Superman can reverse time, but he can't stop two missiles.

  • Sorry but I still don't buy this, I think the superman films suck and this excuse was TERRIBLE it was just so impossible that I couldn't accept it in the end, if you turned the world the other way round, the position of the sun would change to everyone on the planet, IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK TIME and also he can't catch two missiles but can turn back time? fuck this

  • @Samuel24842 i give you a link profesor Michiu Kaku explains how with the events of december in Geneve will change the concept of many things soon

    bigthink.com/ideas/41889

  • @Samuel24842 What's sad is that nobody seems to understand. He DID NOT turn the planet the other direction. His goal was to fly fast enough to break the time barrier so that HE could go back in time. Not the whole damn planet. It's why he looked down as he was flying, observing the events as he went back in time so he'd know where to stop. He went a little to far, so he started flying forward in time, which was symbolized by him flying in the opposite direction.

  • @AlexWynters ah ok I hadn't considered that theory, now it makes more sense. Thank you. I'd still however like to know why he couldn't catch those missiles if he was fast enough to break the time barrier and I won't accept the he was angry and didn't know he could go that fast excuse. But cheers for explaining the time barrier bit, I give the film more credit now :)

  • @AlexWynters But how was he going back in time? All he did was fly around the planet, all that would achieve is flying around the world.

He would have to have flown in the vector of the light which would have sent him miles away from the planet.

  • @AlexWynters The flaw is flying at the speed of light would make time move FORWARD for him, not backward. But anyway it's just a film, it doesn't need to be scientifically correct.

  • the ultimate FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • remember me Gotenks in DBZ

  • How mint is he.

  • i also think Thor giving his life to save total strangers thus getting his powers back ..ranks up with this

  • you gotta feel superman's pain to understand why they went with this ..he was like fuck u dad i love her too much

  • I bet you ALL the money in the world that the new Superman movie wont have these awesome feats. Just catching stupid planes, getting hit by bullets and what not.

Christopher Reeve.....you are the one and only SUPERMAN!

  • As a little kid I remember seeing this and people started talking about how stupid it was that he spun the Earth in the other direction and it was different. Even now, decades later, I still see so many people saying the same thing and it amazes me. He isn't reversing the Earth's spin. He isn't sending the Earth back in time. The scene is from -his- point of view. -He- is flying back in time and watching events go in reverse from his point of view. Why is that so hard for people to get?

  • @dmholman Excellent point.

  • @dmholman If that's the case, why does he reverse his flight at the end and the earth spins back the other way to normal? If it was from his point of view he wouldn't need to fly forward at the end, the earth would just move forward itself again once he slowed down.

  • It's a damn superhero movie,it's not meant to be realistic,get a life.Thanks for posting,fun scene in a fun movie

  • This has proven to be the most stupidest thing a superhero would do in a movie.

this however should've happened in the movie...

Superman: "I can still save them, yeah, by changing time. I am going to fly the earth backwards. yeah!" Few minutes later...

Superman: There, that should do it... wait... it's still the same! F#@$!! Damn you physics! Damn you to hell!

  • This is obviously Pre Crisis Superman, the one we have now could nevr do this.

  • this is the new power called, Super Scream!!!! fuking oath

  • i dont care what anyone says, this scene is one of the most rawest declarations in film; he makes the fucking PLANET spin the other way to save the one he loves.

then sees sense and dumps her for lana 2 movies later

  • @sheikhterry Your first point is perfect....lol at the second haha.

  • This scene always gives me chills. Just seeing Superman, a character as a child I saw as the perfect person, at such a loss. It ffelt like he was at his lowest and you could feel it in that primal scream he bellows out.

  • Comment removed

  • lol i hope von helton doesnt think this is possible haha

  • i scream like that when i'm constipated

  • This is how I passed my mid-term :)

  • all this for some woman.....she aint even that hot.

  • neutrino speed

  • @Lenangreal just no.

  • If he can fly that fast then why couldn't he have stopped both missles?

  • @wiseidiot5763 As evident in the scene it took the death of yet another loved one to push him over the edge. He didn't hold back, he pushed himself because he was so pissed. He removed his "governor" and hit light speed.

  • @Earthman979 suuuure, whatever you say. "cough plothole cough cough"

  • @wiseidiot5763 It's right there in those scenes, if you can't see it I can't help you. Plot hole? No...

  • @wiseidiot5763 because he tried an experimental mixture of crack and meth off-screen

  • @wiseidiot5763 motivation

  • i was screaming like that at October 4 when they announced Iphone 4s instead of iphone 5

  • Me: Goku, if your scream was good, his was better.

  • Of course, what's really happening here is Superman has sped up faster than light (he can defy gravity, Newton's 3rd, etc., so why not relativity as well?) which of course sends him back in time (actually that wouldn't work because his rate of time would be imaginary, not negative, but who cares). Of course, what was going the Supes' dim little brain was, "Dur, maybe spinning the earth backwards will reverse time! Hur hur hur!"

  • that must be some good pussy if superman was willing to wipe out a town

  • Batman can't do that shit.

  • 0:13 "CHIN''

  • In my opinion this is one of the most epic scenes in movie history. I can just feel it.

  • And.... everybody in that neighborhood died.

    -Cracked.

  • Never thought about this until much later, but I think the imagery of the scene was meant to be metaphorical. He didn't actually alter the world's rotation, but sent himself back in time by sheer speed and force of will... which makes the whole thing seem even more incredible.:)

  • @Kainlarsen I can see what you are saying and let's say that's what happened, then how come he never went back and prevented the damage?

  • @Kainlarsen Seems like he altered the world's rotation to me, because when he finished reversing it, he went the other way to get the planet's rotation back on track.

  • @4781d36 nah, he just rewound time to far, he had to fast forward back to the good part.

  • @Kainlarsen Finally...someone with brains! I think you're right on!

  • i was brought here by Drawn Together lol

  • Wait. So if he turned back time and decided to save Lois then wouldn't that mean he also decided NOT to save that town that was on the other side of the Hoover Dam? What a dick.

  • @burntoastvideos cracked.com

  • @burntoastvideos No he isn't. When he turns back time, none of that happens. No earthquake, no flood and no deaths. Can you imagine having someone love you so much to be able to turn back time for you? Wow.

  • @burntoastvideos No, he also saved everyone else during in the process. Not just for Lois :)

  • In the voice of Troy McClure: "It's just good science!"

  • ZO.omg this would so work. Im gona try this.!O.o

  • @MerijnSpiro sorry dude, it only works if your superman :(

  • this scene is the pinnacle of human imagination and hope.

  • Such an EPIC rage scream!

One of my favorite moments as a Kid.

  • (grin) nice!

(grin) isnt it awesome the stuff you normally wouldnt do or couldnt do BUT ONCE UR PISS OFF and dont give a crap you manage to do things that beyond ur reasonable doubt =D

  • This scene was really far fetched even more far fetched than Indiana Jones 4 when Indy hides in a fridge to shelter himself from a nuclear blast and survives.

Scientifically making the earth orbit the opposite way will not turn back time it would more likely cause global disaster.

But at the end of the day so many great movies have moments that were far fetched anyway.

  • @JReed1985 True, but we're talking about a movie about a man who can fly, see through walls, and shoot lasers from his eyes. I think "far fetched" goes with the territory.

  • @ExploitedYouth87 yeah you're right there mate, I think a lot of epic movies have far fetched moments.

  • 0:12-0:19 = THAT'S ME WHEN I FOUND OUT I WAS GOING TO SAVE A LOT OF MONEY ON CAR INSURANCE.

  • wish i can scream like that.. hey what up what you ding? nothing much AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! (echo) good morning dear hoe did you sleep? mmmmm really good-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!..........................we can only dream

  • Normally, I would need a space-capsule (space-vehicle) with retro rockets to fly round and round the planet Earth like that.

  • This has to be my most favourite scene in Superman, so much emotion! I have a Superman App available from iTunes, Search Jor-Els Wisdom to download it! :)

  • he looks like a fish

  • When i was a little kid and watched this: OMIGAWD IT IS SO AWESOME I CANNOT EVEN COMPREHEND!

Now: He turns back time by reversing the earths rotation. Really, guys? that's the best you could do?

  • This scene may be scientifically inaccurate, but easily one of the greatest cinematic moments I've ever seen. Superman goes back in time to save the women he loves... holy SHIT

  • I would've been angry too if my new Camaro got damaged.

  • wat an ugly superman (NO HOMO)

  • Saturn also has its own Superman

  • Superman es suficientemente rapido para detener los 2 misiles solo que el no lo sabia asi que deja de decir estupideces y quedate con tu pedorro heroe daredevil

  • A classic !

  • 0:21-0:23 in 3D

  • @Zach979 So, this in conjunction with what you stated, makes perfect sense in the context of this film. It's just that some people simply aren't smart enough to pay attention to the details and actually put 2 + 2 together.

  • @Zach979 There's something else that people often miss. They specifically mention in the film that these missles are armed with the "new low-level avoidance systems". In a scene cut from the film, Superman tried to head one off and it completely dodged around him. He didn't know that they had to ability to weave in and out of the way of objects in front of them. That's when he realized that in order to catch them, he had to chase them from behind. By then, he had wasted a lot of precious time.

  • Actually I dont know now. Why did he have to orbit the earth in the oposite direction at the end, maybe he ended up stoping time fuk knows.

  • He doesn't raise the dead. He goes back in time by traveling faster than light. For him time goes in reverse at this speed. He stays around the planet while he does this so he doesnt have to spend ages traveling back.

  • @NielsShoe wow... never thought of that... I always found that scene a little stupid.... cause how can making the earth rotate the other way would reverse the time...? then you have your theory, but another question remains... why then he flies to "restore" the original rotation...?

  • @championofgods It's in the comic books. If you go around the Earth at the speed of light then you can go forward or back in time.

  • @vanmoody so he goes back too much then he advances again...?

  • @championofgods It looks that way to me from the clip of him going around the Earth. He is going counter clock wise to go back in time. Then he starts to go clock wise for a bit.

  • @championofgods no he goes the other way to make the earth spin the correct way once again

  • @NielsShoe Rock On, Man! Hell Yeah!! You just made everything ALLLLLLRIGHT!!!

  • Anyone have the video link for Superman giving up his powers for Lois inside the Fortress of Solitude box? Mail me pleez.

  • he never done that in the comics ....raise the dead

  • once dead theres no comin back ..the writers went over board with superman's powers ..he so powerful he can bring the dead back life ..come on now

  • The scene with him flying into the clouds is simply MAJESTIC!

  • This is my ringtone when my Ex calls.

  • Lois Lane dies.

    Superman: FFFFFffUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-!

  • Possibly one of 10 best scenes in movie history

  • @91939markoz u have got to be shitting me?

  • @ostime14 Why?

  • @91939markoz cos there are soooo many greater scenes than this

  • @91939markoz i agree

  • Yay i love these old movies-

  • Christopher Reeve's Superman was based off the Powerful Silver Age Superman.

  • @TonyMack187 he was pre crisis superman pre 1985 ..that superman could do almost anything.. no limits

  • @fashizze Yea that's why Christopher Reeve Superman was so powerful and the crazy thing is he looks so much like Pre Crisis Superman that it creeps me out lol.

  • Lex luthor voted on this video 9 times.

  • I had always assumed that he TRAVELED back in time and changed events, but the way it is filmed it indeed looks like he REVERSED time..

  • SO THATS HOW U GO BCK IN TIME

  • always loved this .how superman is so enraged ..Jor El's warning "It is forbidden" he's like fuck it i'm savin her

  • How come he didn't use this on the 9/11 attack

  • @garbagemonkey101 he was on a journey to Krypton when that went down .don't you remember Superman returns

  • he didnt even know lois lane that long to have such deep feelings for her .they werent even that close personally .just the interview and flying scene with her .they were not in love with each other ..and he flips out when she dies and turns back time for her

  • @fashizze Superman is mad about her dying, but also at himself for not being able to save someone when he is always able to.

  • this is the power anakin skywalker was yearning for to save padme from dying

  • The realization sets in .... you can't live your entire life for your parents.

  • FORBIDDEN!

  • If he could do this and disregard the whole forbidden thing like he just did now, then he could go back in time and stop Lex Luther's mom and dad from ever meeting and he would not have to kill anybody while doing it.

  • it is superman responsibility to save everyone.

  • The irony here, is if Superman did reverse the spin of the Earth, it would cause such catastrophic tectonic activity, he wouldn't have much to go back to.

  • Comment removed

  • Its a misunderstanding what the Earth moving backwards actually is. He wasn't turning the Earth backwards. The effect is used to show the position of the Earth as he traveled back in time. As he went backwards through time the Earth beneath him would be at the position it was at the moment he was in. So when he went back a few hours it was shown as it was that long ago.

  • in what way rotating the earth reverse will turn back time ?

the most realistic is that superman gone through speed of lite and enter the time hole and back to the past ...

  • This is why Super Heroes should stay off drugs!

    Get this guy on rehab!

Also 9 people don't like being saved...

  • Comment removed

  • ...and his hair stays perfectly in tact..:-)

  • Use a Tripod.

  • I love it when he gets angry! He should show that side more!~

  • lol so epic...it makes a good alarm clock! lol

  • too bad he couldn't do for Japan and New Zealand

  • Perhaps Anger is almost a steroid for Superman

  • SUPERMAN IS THE BEST HERO!!!! NO DOUBT

  • Classic Superman, not the same as others

  • @esjayay Superman save people across the universe, read the comics... And he saves the entire world, he saves the entire multiverse, he even travel to other Earth in other universe to save people there too.

  • Comment removed

  • @FireStormBaller I take that back

  • @esjayay Read Action Comics 900.

  • When we have De ja vu, it's when Superman reversed time.

  • @FireStormBaller when we have De ja vu, its because CHUCK NORRIS ROUNDHOUSE KICKED THE EARTH BACK IN TIME!
