  • Lovely, characterful music played with style and sensitivity!

  • As I have played (some of) these pieces I think I can solve the "enigma" :-) The first two are from his etudes op46, more precisely No.4 and No.10. The third (as already mentioned) is his op51 No.1. Finally the last is the rigaudon, second piece of op 49.

  • @StockhausenIsMyCat Thank you mentioning the right pieces! Now I added the correct video info. About these pieces: sometimes I have the feeling that I am listening to an "American Grieg"!

  • @pianopera well, the first of this selection somehow reminds a bit of the atmosphere of the lyric pieces.

  • Delighted to hear this posting of recordinga by a nearly forgotten pianist playing works by a nearly forgotten American composer! The piano teacher that I had as a child had known Marian MacDowell (widow of the composer), and Miss Pihlman (my teacher's name) spent some summers up at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire. She said that Mrs. MacDowell played "To a Wild Rose" much faster than it was usually played!

  • Great! More Ganz please... Ganz gut!! (Sorry, bad German pun...)

  • I would guess they are from the set of 10? Op.51 pieces which in my catalogue are given the name 'American forest idylls', but this may well be a literal translation from the German. I think that Ganz here plays them as well as they could ever be.

  • The third piece is "To a Wild Rose", Op. 51 # 1 (Woodland Sketches). Great upload!

  • @superdot36 Thanks!
