This may be a terrible question. But do they change the wreath on a set the time table, i.e. every 24 hours like they do the guard, every one hour. Can someone help me
What an honer and privilege it must have been for those four young kids to stand on hallowed ground. I can't even begin to imagine what they must have been feeling inside. It's refreshing to know our young kids are being taught about the men and women who gave their lives so that this nation may remain free. Gives me a sense of hope for this tired world.
i am going to do this on saturday and i was just looking at the composer of the people who have this great honor. as i have noticed its clean cut well dressed as i had expected
at our ceremony for remembrance day in calgary last year, we had a leatherneck in attendance. really nice guy who i spoke to briefly. was really nice to see americans there honouring our dead soldiers.
this video is great except at 3:25 and may i add that i did the same exact ceremony on march 31st just last month and it was an honor to lay the wreath
i dont get it 2 of them didnt do a thing. i mean i get the cerimony and what the purpose is but i dont undrstand the so called "honor" of putting the wreath there. and dont get me wrong, i completely think that the wreath cerimony is great and all im just sayin that i dont beleive u have to write an essay just to do what they did
@Mottheh00ple321@Mottheh00ple321 They are part of a ceremony that allows them to pay respect. Some of these kids are contemplating a future in the military or are very interested in military history/US history. It gives them a chance to participate in something 'real' outside the classroom. I think the impact it has on a young child cannot be measured. I don't know if they have to write essays or not. I think it's something you need to be present to appreciate.
@DiamondPrincess518 You really captured the dignity and purpose of the ceremony with the 'woot woot' comment. Thank god some people at that age actually understand respect and have a bit of maturity. You must have been so bored there, waiting to check facebook and text your BFF's. What a disgrace.
I'm going to be honest, that kid is a douche. I went there in '06 as well, 8th grade. Now, I'm joining the military...how things have changed...first thing I'm doing is heading right back there when I get the chance.
I have a feeling the child wasn't a local, maybe a tourist, which could explain his disrespect if it isn't his country, though I'm not anywhere near agreeing or defending him.
Very moving..... Until the disrespectful kid. Good job moving away from him as quickly as possible. I am sure that by now he regrets that act of immaturity.
i wonder what grade these kids were when this was, because that kid at 3:25 looks to me like he is immature enough that he can't even pay some respect to a soldier that gave his life for our country, that is ridiculous and very immature, and i hope this kid is ashamed of himself, because he should be, but great video
My Mom, Dad, and I were there during this wreath laying ceremony. We were standing to the left of the Wreath. I get a tear in my eye every time I hear taps. That was our 1st time at Tomb of the Unkown Soldier and it was a very moving ceremony. -Dave
My little brother just came back safe from Iraq. He has my utmost respect. God bless those who have served their country and come home and please watch over the souls of those who didnt.
When you refer to "hair standing" it refers to the hair in your arms. And if you don't have any hair in your arms, chest, legs, than what kind of a man are you?
if "they" (your parents) can't tell, then I think your an abortion that survived. A lab experiment gone dreadfully wrong. I don't know. All I know is that you are fecal matter for not respecting this video.

It's a great honor because it's rare for ordinary people to do any of that.
I just posted my essay for my school's upcoming trip to D.C., I hope i'm one of the few selected.
It's an amazing honor because senators and important people do this, not ordinary 8th graders. =)

If your "hair is wet" than I suggest you ask your mom and dad what gender you really are.
Your approach to comedy on this serious issue is exactly what it is.....a comical approach.
Sorry you can't respect what this group of honorable men are doing.
