You must know this is indeed Misia singing Diagonal Passion because you have the video of Misia singing this song (Paixöes Diagonais) on your page. Same as above where Sofia Milos lip-syncs it.
The movie is about Passion- a woman that lost her husband (the love of her life) and sings Fado music (deeply passionate music which has been said to be very loosely translated of longing) and finds love again with someone of which she says in the end 'you are my passion'.
@bittersweet0084 Passionada = Of (of, with, therein etc ) Passion - In the movie they showed a perfume bottle with the name Passionada but the movie was not named after perfume. The song here is 'Diagonal Passion'
You need to have felt the pain to be able to sing about it, otherwise if you fake it's not natural. Its baeutifull when you sing about the pain you felt.
just beautiful ... im portuguese and i just love Fado ... if u like too try others artists search for Amalia Rodrigues , Mariza or Ana Moura or if u like men singing try Carlos do Carmo or Camané ... 4ever PORTUGAL
Well, it's portuguese music, and the character singing is supposed to be portuguese, but the actress playing her, Sofia Milos, is definitely NOT portuguese. I can see why you had doubts, she looks italian, but I think she's actually greek. When she spoke portuguese in the movie, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up ;) The movie is alright though. Just... please don't mistake portuguese for spanish again, It's regarded as pretty offensive. Hope this helped**
millions of people watched the movie with no problem, then comes the anal detail few that must pick apart everything from soup to nuts! it was a simple movie about a lady who moved from portugal to america and her passion was for her husband who died then she found passion again with the new dude. much was symbolic like food and music etc. damn man now people gotta pick apart the movies. it is not a DOCUMENTARY people, it is a simple fiction movie!
Well. I am a spanish native and believe me... sometimes I don't understand my own language when some Cubans speak... Who are we to judge if this or that is "educated"?
Well because u can easily see the difference from portuguese language and spanish language...It is much easier to see the difference in 2 different languages then 2 countries that speak the same language.. Education is based on a knowledge ...not directly being in school for it. You had stated spanish and portuguese which made me believe that you meant SPAIN ( castellano) and PORTUGAL ( portuguese) and not spanish in general.
if you listen to the commentary from the director Dan Ireland, from the DVD, Sofia actually did sing the 2 songs, "Diagonal Passions" and "Sad Destiny"....when it came time to match up the singing with the film, something had happened to the footage, and Mr Ireland had to add another voice singing the songs...the footage of Ms Milos actually singing these songs was lost....Mr Ireland apologizes...check out the DVD, it's awesome...
FYI, I posted this because I'm a fan of Fado music. Anyone who watched the director's commentary will know the audio for this performance is actually Misia singing, whom you will find in my favorites and also as the tag in the video. This was not posted because of the actors or even the movie, which was a great movie by the way. In defense of Sofia Milos, she did perform the song on set, apparently well enough to put Jason Isaacs and Misia to tears.
Sorry, but I did not care for this piece of a really nice little movie. Although the recorded singer is lovely, it says on the dvd that the actress lipsinced this.

Passionada is actually spanish. If it was translated in Portuguese it would have been Apaixonada. It means" having a passion" and/or passion.
cota051 8 months ago
@cota051 Passionada its not spanish. In spanish it would be "apasionada". I think it might be italian (at least for the two s the word has).
Im telling you this because im spanish and know the language pretty well xD

@mhradu CD of Misia: )1. Paixöes Diagonais Misia (4:08) Lyrics same as video above, same as was sung in the movie.
'O Corvo' is not the song sung above. It is the 4th song on the CD -
4. O Corvo Fado Tamanquinhas Misia (3:26)

this movie should be "Apaixonada" and not "Passionada" because that word doesn't exist in portuguese! I know, i'm portuguese!
but, oh well, sofia sang so beautifully...
s7a2r7a2 3 years ago
Passionada is actually the name of a perfume used by Emmy Rossum's character in the movie.
FinalChad8 3 years ago
@s7a2r7a2 wtf?
A sofia cantou bem?
Uh! ... topa-se a 100% q a voz é da Misia.
Podes dizer q a miúda ao microfone fez um limp synch perfeito, mas mais do que isso:
esquece.

If that movie would have been called Apaixonada, there would have been 4-5 tickets sold. :) No hard feelings.

How is "Passionada" translated?? What does it mean?
bittersweet0084 3 years ago
The movie is about Passion- a woman that lost her husband (the love of her life) and sings Fado music (deeply passionate music which has been said to be very loosely translated of longing) and finds love again with someone of which she says in the end 'you are my passion'.

Passionada was the name of a perfume in the movie. It can't be translated, it's not a real word.

Did you watch the Directors Notes on the DVD set? He talks about the title and it is not from perfume.

Why do you think making a mistake between spanish and portuguese is offensive?

.It is not offensive but people should be educated by now on the difference of one from the other.
