Well the thing is that many vegetarians use fish as an exception to the vegetarian life style because of how their brains work. You see fish have been proven to have memories that last only for a few seconds, which is why the same fish will keep retruning to your hook a few times after you have thrown it back. I will admit it is gruesome, but it happens. The thing is kind of in a state where it keeps forgetting what is going on is all.

Your singular example is like taking a straight A student and saying he is an example of how smart all students are when that is not the case. We are basing this argument on averages, not exceptions. Quite frankly, if most fish were smart then they would not get caught on fishing hooks multiple times over, though they should know from experience that the bait is a trap.

This show is playing on people's ignorance on how animals are killed. This clip begins, "The fish is still alive but the chef goes right ahead 'n scrapes off its scale." Well, you could slit the belly of the fish open to kill it. So many urbanites don't realise that animals are killed to provide meat. Animals aren't dead and then the meat cut up for human consumption. Animals are killed alive for meat. Nothing out of the ordinary. This is only playing on the ignorance of urbanites.

You don't need to think about this in terms of for or against. That's a very limiting way of looking at this issue. What I am saying is that this clip intends to shock the audience, an audience who is typically ignorant of how meant for human consumption comes about. Meat for human consumption comes from live animals that are then killed. They don't come from dead animals which then are cut up. Given that, this clip itself shouldn't shock anyone (except vegetarians who have a moral stance).

How is that different than cutting off the head of a fish to kill it when it's alive? Or, how is that different that gutting the fish when it's alive? It's not any different! This clip is only able to shock those people (usually urbanites) who have no idea how meat for human consumption comes: it comes from killing LIVE animals, not dead carcass
