  • This show had the best opening titles of the 80's.

  • the laughter Ewing Jr. likes of me a lot!

  • I used to moan so much when I heard the intro song when I was a kid, my mum used to record it and watch it in the morning. Maybe I'll start watching it now and see what all the fuss was about. :))

  • As a young kid I remember Dallas on Friday night after the Dukes, that intro was my bedtime...

  • the sweeping shot of the driveway and home at the end inspires me to go out and find a job that actually pays enough to allow me to pay my bills

  • Wow. A TV show based on a city where the greatest tragedy in American history took place.

  • @squirevet what tragedy was that?

  • @tanrat7 maybe your President got shot by his own people. But could also be the fact that Dallas is full of dull Tea Partiers.

  • .... a bunch of lowlifes, in reality, no less that ran the US into the ground.

  • ..... Thanks!

  • just to make everyone aware in all the opening credit videos for this series they have a shot of the football stadium. that is the only way it can be seen now since the Dallas Cowboys are playing in a new one and the old was imploded.

  • @Brian--I'll have to wait for season 11 on DVD and check it out. The middle pic must be stretched or something. Watching season 8 right now. :)

  • I remember this one specifically, as a kid!! Watching this again made me feel like it's friday night and the channel is on CBS lol

  • Is that Lucy? The pic on the right is her but the other two are not!!

  • @jenbluedog

    All three pics are her!

  • don't forget this is the 11th season, and therefore tons of time to change apperance!

  • Wow.. That almost brought tears to my eyes.. Happy days!!

  • The music is absolutely great. It's so lively!

  • What did anyone think of that mother son relationship between Chris Adkins and Sue Ellen? Ohh I know there was no incestous story line but an older woman with a twenty somthing kid kinda grossed me out....how could I forget that lip lock they shared when Sue Ellen was sitting in her car....ehhhhhhh,,,,, gross

  • The later seasons went down hill without Pam. She really gave the series a good look and plus, she was hot. Seasons 1-9 were my favorite. (theme musics sounds like something that would be in superhero cartoon.)

  • AMAZING how Dallas, the city, has changed since this show and not for the better! One of he worst places to live now!

  • @Bryan2001 I diagree. Dallas is one if the only good cities in this country to live. Texas in general is the only good place to live in America right now. Everyone in America just seems to be moving here so that's why it might suck.

  • @Bryan2001 Just move to Fort Worth

  • @dknights411 Nope, gonna stay in my home town and run the rift raft out of town!

  • This is acctualky the intro to season 12. I have season 11 and it has priscilla presley in the intro and lucy ewing didnt come back until the last espisofe of the season.

  • I never did like Barbara Bel Geddes as Mis Ellie, I thought with her moo moos she was to frumpy. Now Donna Reed brought beauty and class with her grace and professional business suits to the role.

  • @Bootsie1776 Get a Clue. LOL I don't normally reply on this but, I have to back Barbara Bel Geddes up. Did you actually watch the show from beginning to end? If you did, you would have realized the Barbara was the perfect person to play the character of Miss Ellie. After all, she was a Rancher's daughter, not the Grand Dame of Dallas as Donna Reed pretended to be. Miss Ellie never cared about Ewing Oil! Her character only cared about Southfork. That's why she dressed casually!

  • Interesting to hear this stuff about Lucy. Did y'all know that she was originally intended to be JR's illegitimate daughter? Check out the Dallas novel from 1978.

  • Awesome. JR was brilliant.

  • Charlene Tilton was a touch boring, but nevertheless financially astute. She, as Lucy Krebbs [Ray Krebbs' daughter], got 10 million dollars from the [since declared deceased] estate of Jock Ewing; but she continued to work as a waitress in a Dallas diner.

  • Actually.. she was Gary Ewing's daughter, that's why she is called Lucy EWING.

  • Yes,okay - I stand corrected. Lucy was the daughter of Gary Ewing["Knot's Landing"], and not that of Ray Krebbs. It's like a game show general knowledge multiple choice. I'd have ruled out J.R. and Bobby, and known it was either Gary or Ray. I'd have gone 'Ray Krebbs'. I remember Lucy as visiting and talking with Ray, but I MIGHT have confused her with someone else, and thus it gets back to one's memories of TV from over 20 years ago. But - good correction; anyway.

  • She as Lucy Ewing the daughter of Garrison Ewing

  • The show isn't good without Victoria Principal. Charlene Tilton is boring...

  • No Jim Davis

    No Susan Howard

    No Steve Kanaly

    No Priscilla Presley

    No Victoria Principal

Shame how, one by one, they all left for one reason or another.

The final great season was ten with Wes Parmalee coming in pretending to be Jock - I don't know what you think, but I almost wanted him to be Jock and see him and Clayton fight bare-knuckle to the death for Miss Ellie!

  • Least we still had Linda Gray, liked Sheree J.Wilson too, wasn't the same after Pam but writing out Sue-Ellen? Madness!

  • I agree. But did Linda Gray decide to leave herself or was she written out by writers?

  • Well according to Linda Gray, the writers felt they were was no where left for the new, strong Sue-Ellen to go.

  • linda got her way and was able to influence the writers to make her into a strong character and she left the show just the way she wanted when it concluded.

HOWEVER, rumors are flying that dallas: the next generation may be coming to tv with jr, sue ellen and christopher focusing on the whole new next generation thing.

if they do, i think it's great. good ol' larry hagman - he keeps on goin!

  • I agree with you about all of the missing characters but I was glad that Wes Parmalee wasn't Jock!

  • We never really got a good explanation or a final showdown as to why Wes Parmalee was so convinced, and able to convince others that he was Jock, he just kinda slithered away.

But you have to admit, if the writers had decided to bring Jock back from the dead; Steve Forrest was the actor to do it, I really warmed to him and actually liked him more than Clayton.

What a fab storyline, although unbelievable, if he had been Jock.

Wow that would have thrown the cat among the pigeons!!

  • that was a stupidly written character.

  • Who was a stupidly written character?

  • Sue Ellen (LOL) alcoholic !

  • WHO THE HELL SHOT J.R.!?

  • OJ Simpson. LOL

  • I think Bing Crosbys daughter did it if I recall and it was Sue Ellens sister.

  • April and her sister rocked!

Especially when her sister killed Susan Lucci!

  • April's sister's haircut was SO different at the time. Everyone in the late eighties had long, permed hair (or so it seemed). She really stuck out. I liked it.

  • This is the last season that used the "Dallas scroll"! :(

  • I know! Then they tried to ruin it(the intro)

  • fuckers.

  • lol. That newer season 12 opening really showed how poor the quality if the show had gotten in its final years.

  • J.R., the goodfather of all tv villains. My grandma was on wednesday always grumping and angry at him. (It was aired tuesday). Fond memories!

  • Its the Beverly Hillbillys

  • The reason that pam leaving "destroyed" Dallas was really bec it totally screwed with the dynamic of the show. The premise was about the EWING family vers the BARNES family( or vice versa).... oviously if bobby married cowgirl sally, there wouldn't be a show. Whiny and one dimensional as Pam became, she was still an ovious integral character for Dallas to keep it's sparkle.

  • OMG My favourite character was April and I was schocked when she was killed... So I named my cat (at my grandparent's) after her and my grandmum couldn't pronounced it... :D :D :D

  • Amazing...does this mean White people used to live in Dallas?

  • who owened that big house on the ranch forgot.

  • They needed to update Linda Gray's picture, she did not look that at all this season(she had very long black hair and was gorgeous!).

  • Wow, if I have to see the difference between how many skyscrapers there were 20 years ago and how many there are today, I would be shocked!

  • I only love the intro :$

  • Wow. I haven't seen Dallas in so long.

&I've still yet to see the episode where April gets shot.

  • Victoria was approached for the series finale "Conundrum" but wanted a written guarantee that this was the final episode of the show and there would not be any kind of continuation, she declined when the producers wouldn't provide this. I'm afraid you're wrong about her going back, she once said "Pam Ewing is deader than dead she's dust". This new movie will have a brand new cast.

  • I wasn't

  • No Pam(Victoria Principal)Dallas wasn't the same after she left.

  • I was kinda glad to see Pam go. She had become this pathetic needy pain in the ass. In the beginning she was the tough chick that didn't take any shit. But after watching her all those years it was kinda sad to see her go.

  • That was the exact reason Victoria left, she was unhappy with the direction the producers wanted her character to take, diluting her strong characterisation and making her weaker and more vulnerable. She vowed she would never go back, and she didn't.

  • She didn't go that far as vowing that she would never go back, because I heard that there is suppose to be a new Dallas television movie coming up with most of the original cast and Pam is suppose to be in it.

  • But Pam was killed-off as we find out in the Season 11 premiere. Margaret Michaels, a Victoria Principal look-a-like, played Pam and we find out she only has a few months to live, because of this, Pam severs all ties with the Ewings, her Brother Cliff and Dallas itself!

  • She was not killed off exactly. They just said that she had a few months to live, but they never officially announced that Pam had died, leaving a loop hole for her to come back. They would never kill a main character off like that, especially after the whole "Bobby Ewing dream season thing" the writers wouldn't be that stupid a second time around!

  • Thats not what happened. Pam had that devastating accidnet with a fuel truck and it exploded. She was horribly disfigured but she survived. Eventually another actress played her for one scene in which she married someone else and she did not want to burden Bobby or their son with her handicapp. Kinda stupid excuse to ditch your family if that happened IRL but it would only fly on TV

  • Watch that scene again, Einstein. She made it look like she was in love and going to marry her doctor, but in fact she only had a few months to live and didn't want the family to go through losing her all over again.

  • @dramaticguy I agreee... I miss Victoria principal :-(
