  • hes probabally fine because they count to 4 and if there chute did not deploy they have an amergency pull

  • ..2.15....???

  • @lagash49 what about it?

  • Legendary song.

  • what happend to him?

    what alltitude was the jump?

glad im right here on my feet ;D

  • God and Country!

Serve God in Heaven and be a protector of Freedom, Justice, and every Good!

    God Bless you in service!

  • Please forgive me for not being knowledgeable, but I've never jumped out of a plane nor been in the military. What went wrong - I didn't see it.

    Thanks for explaining.

  • @ktgodwin100 total malfunction, looks like a cigarette roll, in layman's terms, chute didn't open and he fell like a rock

  • Google "PARACHUTE 2 CLUB" for photo archive and comments from members of British 2 PARA.

  • does anyone know if he died or not?

  • mute

  • I just don't see it. Will somebody fill me in on what's actually happening here?

  • :O parachute let go of that soldier.......eeek. wonder what happened.

  • @GroovyPooCakes420 you carry a small reserve on your stomach, but they are kinda shitty and even if it does open youre hitting the ground easily at +20 ft/s even if you jettison your PDB and shoulder load, scary shit.

  • ** Awesome ** 1977-78 when I was stationed with the screaming eagles 101st air born Air Assault at the 801 MAintenance Battalion Ft.Campbell Ky. The 82nd Air Born came in a BIG exercise to show us they could take our base(capture it) The hospital was busy with the dead, dying and seriously wounded for along time ! The drops were too close and every thing went crazy ! Even the supplies hit, crushed killed soldiers and soldiers dropping from the sky. Old Memories shooting back after watching this.

  • The music always has to be "I swear my dick is not small" themed music. We get it.. next video.

  • was he ok?

  • sick

  • What was the slow mo at the end about? Not sure what is this vid about.. :s

  • @CheeseToast if you look closely you will see that the chute on one of the soldiers does not deploy, he exits out of the right door.

  • Cool

  • U guys in the army? My brother is about to join up

  • Awesome video but do they need to do this anymore? Seems like with smart bombs and drones we wouldn't need to put these guys lives in danger anymore than the military already does..

  • @phukpasswords yeah we do...even know we are in the static fight we find ourselves in now when you need to get people on the ground fast over the horizon and you got nothing else in the area a Airborne operation can still get the job done...

  • @phukpasswords Lol.. yay someone finally has a brain. NO they don't need to do this, they just do it at Ft. Bragg, so they can ... wait for it... BRAG. I saw an oompa loompa on the beach the other day with a giant tribal tattoo on his arm, and an "airborne" tattoo on his chest. I think he was in the Jersey Shore too, not sure.

  • @phukpasswords, you cant take and hold ground without people on the ground, there is inly so much you can do with drones and so called smart weaponry

  • It looks like it's pooping out floating jellyfish.

  • i was born and raised in raeford, nc, and always LOVED watching jumpers, a-10's, and helicopters fly by....GOOD STUFF thankU FOR ALL YOUR COURAGE, AND CONTINUE TO DO WHAT YALL DO!!!

  • No shit! I think I was on this jump! I did two test jumps from the C-17 back in '96...I knew there were follow on aircraft filming...and that some jumpers got hurt bad/killed. Ksmith? Was that you? I was with the 2/505...

  • @ZimmermanFlyFishing wait so did he die

  • From 2:12 - 2:23 right above the lower C17. A guy whose chute doesn't fully open.

  • AAAAAHHHHHH!!! the good ole days! HSB 3/319 AFAR

  • shit happens man, I think that in case of any mal function, release reserve just like that, leave no doutb, don´t believe in luck because you don´t have time to fix any problem, and even that the reserve don´t inflate it´s because you are not descent so fast and you can allways pick it up around the legs and land on a "puff"..

  • @manfio22 Doesn't work like that, if your main is inflated and you deploy your reserve, it too will inflate, it's a much smaller parachute, it will inflate underneath your main, stealing it's air, and the main will collapse and tangle in the reserve likely leaving you with 2 malfunctioned chutes and no lift. If you deploy your reserve with your main functioning, you have to try and pull the reserve back in before it inflates, as it will inflate slower because your main is slowing your descent

  • I see the picture, but could the side wind pull the reserve out of the way,the chute "jump" from other direction, but like you said, it could stay under the main also.

My opinion and what I experience, is that in a tactical jump at less than 1500ft or 1000ft, if someting went rong, like this (roman candle) I would not hesitate, it´s all to fast, unless, if the speed of descent is not so high, offering small danger, the opening of the reserve could resulte in 2 problems like you said.

  • @manfio22 Yeah, you don't have a lot of time, generally you count to 4, and if the main didn't open, it's safe to say it's not going to and automatically pull your reserve. It's the situation like a squib, or a partial inversion where you may or may not be getting full lift from your main, in that case, you're getting at least partial lift so you have much more time, so you're supposed to check the jumpers around you to see if you're falling faster than them, if you are, pull your reserve

  • @manfio22 But you can have a partial malfunction like a squib, and still get full lift, in that case, you just ride it out, but it's important to make sure before you pull your reserve just because your main doesn't quite look right, cause pulling your reserve in a squib with full lift will cause the 2 to tangle causing a worse problem. But yes, like you said, no hesitation for total malfunctions, only situations you may have to think about it, your main is at least mostly open giving you lift

  • Why did he not release his reserve chute. Surely part of your training is after exit check canopy, canopy ok check drift, look out for other jumpers release weapons attachment on the line, bang you have landed

  • @Backpacker1uk Hopefully he did, you're supposed to count to 4, thousand one, thousand two, and so on then check your canopy, if by then it hasn't opened or you haven't felt the shock of it opening, you automatically pull your reserve

  • @ 1:56, I think there's a paratrooper who doesn't open his chute..

  • @peterrobann Holy fuck! I didn't see that on my first watch! Did he survive?

  • So why didnt he deploy his reserve?

  • Compared to C-130s, C-17s were heaven.

  • My cousins in fort Bragg! miss you!

  • Thanks for the shitty music asshole

  • Some Troopers just have to get on the ground faster.

Not the recommended way, but it seemed to work ok.

  • that looks so fun nd scary at the same time

  • is that a tank at 1:21 ?

  • @S4Lrobin Yer, looks like a Bradly

  • Only way id jump out of a plane is if it was on the ground

  • why always put the shit music in the foreground?? It has nothing to do with the clip

  • why didnt he just open his reserve chute??? did the guy survive?

  • ?????????? I saur a tank????

  • Did he live to jump another day?

  • @ewoods13 Looking at the uploader comments, it sounds like he is that he was the one that as in the accident. Maybe.

  • it took roughly 468 C-47s to do the same job that roughly 98 C-17s could of done in the airborne landing's of Normandy. Wow

  • wow they look like jellyfish

  • dude i pray i see some one getting fucked up. i'm 82'nd 3bct 2-505. hit me up if you hate my post. but i pray i see some one fuck them self's up on a jump. to let me know i have seen everything and that they get payed for the rest of there lifes

  • @ Beholder505 -The ride was much nicer than the 130 or 141. Jumpmaster can walk down the aisle without hitting anyones gear. The seats were nylon and still folded up, but were much better than the netting style.

  • @Ksmith325

I know what you mean.I was a c130 loadmaster and you actually had to walk on the paratroops,to get from one part of the plane to the other

  • I was A co. 1/505. I was at Bragg at this time 94-97. But didn't do C-17 test jumps. I heard they're much more comfortable. Individual seats vs the netting in the 141's and 130's. Is that true?

  • @Beholder505 I was in A Co. and C Co. 1 Panther '94-'99. We started jumping C17s in '98 I think. Sweet ride, smooth jump. Walking outside of the aircraft on that damn gangplank was a bit nerve racking, though. The C17 is proof that God loves paratroopers and wants them to be happy.

  • @ thehoomaikai - I finished my full enlistment with the 82nd on jump status. I actually jumped 2 days after this incident.

  • @:Smith325 I think I would have seriously comtemplated terminating. I knew a SSG in the 2/508, and he had a static line malfunction while jumping into Ft Drum. After pulling his reserve, he broke his leg when he landed. He recuperated for a year, and then he disappeared. I assumed he terminated. One of my last jumps with the 82nd, I saw him as I was boarding the plane, and he was one of the Air Force crewman. If you stuck it out, I salute you.

  • @TheHoomaikai What identified him as being airforce

  • @TheHoomaikai Im assuming this was a long time ago, paratroopers havent jumped onto Ft. Drums dz's for a few years now

  • private: sgt. airborne, how much time do you have to pull your reserve if your main doesn't open?

sgt. airborne: the rest of your life, private

  • fuck this i'm a pussy when it comes to this kind of shit

  • Ok what happened :/ ? Anything bad happen to him :/ ?

  • poor guy

  • poor guy. did it eventually deploy?

  • well, maybe those guys are making bad jumps, but I couldn't make any kind of jump like that even if it was into a big pile of pillows, shiver!

  • So fucking glad you made it son!

    SF

  • I would of been better to jump off from the ramp instead of the side door.

  • Glad you made it!!

  • Great video. What unit were you in? I was with D co 1/504. I would have had a soft cushining, with all the crap I let loose when I realized my chute didn't deploy.

  • @auburnfan27 D 1/325

  • what a fucking trip man!

  • hehe, at least you were the first on the ground

  • I've got a son in airborne. I never know what to ask about. Thanks, for doing what you do.

  • Think about it. If someone had cut your static line(even though I know it was just a joke). You would not have had a cigarette- or streamer as we called them. You would not of had a chute showing at all. It never would have come out of the deployment bag. The static line pulls the chute out of the bag. No static line=no chute.

  • been there done that fella! thanks for posting up the video. i can say much like the 1st part of the video, i burnned in. but as you can see there is a saftey at fault. the army might give its paratroopers new chutes and it may give you better lift but that dosen't fix human error of droping on trooper on another. that is unexceptable. with out proper time and spacing between jumpers you can not have time to undo tangles witch lead to cig rolls.

  • that must have been the worst free fall you've ever felt, did they ever find what happen to the chute?

  • fuckin scary shit! seen it many times with 172nd(when they still had it) and 505 82nd

  • This shit ain't no joke. When I first got to Bragg I took the room of a soldier who had died when his chute didn't open about a week before I got there. Also had a buddy who was a magnet for disaster...he must have ran his ass off the top of other soldiers parachutes after his own air got stolen about 3 times over a 2 yr period we were there. Lucky bastard lived everytime though.

  • fuck that killed my day knowing that guys shoot fucked up!

am just hoping it never happens to me.

  • I see some air stealing at 0:36 upper right side.

  • i am a 82nd airborne vet in a company of riggers (E CO 782nd) and was on this very jump and actually have a total of 52 jumps including tactical and cheese. The only problem i ever had was waiting for hours in full combat equipment waiting to jump. Sometimes flying to other states just to come back to the drop zone. All those maybe thinking about becoming airborne should join the 782nd rigger Facebook group and or 82nd Facebook group and learn what you can.

  • 0:55 gotta love the sight

  • where was the bad jump ?

sorry you guys if look like a stranger to parachute jumping

  • 0:45 In the center...dropping faster then everyone else. 2:21 same jumper, look far right. See how everyone's parachute opened(looks like a balloon) except for his. Thats the cigarrette role, full mulfunction. That's when you hope to god that soldier doesnt freeze and pulls the reserve parachute.

  • so that was you that had the bad jump??? i had option to go airborn but took air assault instead 13b 10 mountain

  • now there is an extension on the static lines when you jump c-17s

  • yeah after people are killed or injured....would have been better to use dummys instead of real people.

  • Hell from sky!!!!!

  • who sings this song??

  • Breaking Benjamin.

  • The one downside of being paradropped.....you're scattered all over the damn place

  • I remember test jumping the C-17 back at Bragg with 2/504 PIR. Plane couldn't slow down enough for a safe drop at first. Had blown canopies, terrible opening shocks etc... Wonder what they did to be able to slow to a reasonable drop speed

  • Wonder how the new division looks at bragg?

  • they look like shit

  • The first jumper is a CDS Bundle, not a paratrooper!!!

  • exactly

  • We were on the ground when we saw that guy come out of the plane in a cigarette roll and we were praying for the chute to open up. And praying hard. It open just before hitting the ground.

  • I was with 1/325 when I was a PFC. About a week after the jump, I was called the the CG's office on the Division hill and he showed me the tape. He then gave me a copy if I promised not to put it on the old Tv show Hard Copy. I remember he was the first jumper and his entourage met me on the ground, gave me a Division coin and a 3 day pass. Good times!!!

  • @gcoolceaser god answers all prayers

  • Goddam I cant fucking believe this i remember this jump I was a spc and they pick like the soldiers from the division mostly high ranking officers and High ranking NCO and what was left went to the rest of us who were chosen.

  • I was on this very jump 13 years ago

  • This jump was for the Aiborne board they was testing the exttended static line with the c-17 aircraft!!!!!!

  • Dont remember extended static line on this jump, only an extra flap upon exit of the plane. I was in Eco 782nd, a rigger company that packed the chutes for the 82nd jumps and remember nothing extra about our chutes.

  • Doing the late 90's the Army was testing the extended static line over on pope AFB, I worked with the Airborne board that tested new equipment and Airborne procedures over at green ramp!

  • This is how I used to begin all of my FTXs...kick out the door bundle and "LET"S GO." Man, I miss Bragg...good memories. ATW!

  • AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! LOOK OUT!!! PARATROOPER INVASION!!! AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! Oh, wait, WE'RE the paratrooper invasion.

  • what was the bad part of the jump? i dont know enough about Airborne to see anything bad happening

  • Im not sure but around 2:19 i can see a Parachute that doesnt opened. Between the Planes... Maybe thats the failure?!

  • At around 1:12-1:18 you can see the malfunction ("cigarette roll" ) in the bottom center of your screen. The parachute appears as a vertical column of cloth (in the general shape of a cigarette), providing the jumper with very little drag. It is caused when one skirt of the canopy is blown against the opposite skirt. The nylon is quickly heated by friction and can melt the fabric and fuse it together, preventing any hope of the canopy opening. In short...this is bad...very bad!

  • how do you fix that problem? wouldn't your reserve get tangled in it if you deployed it? ( thinking of joining the airborne, but im not too sure if i want to after reading about how bad the technology is for the US airborne) .

  • 1st parachute comes out from pack on your back(behind you). Your reserve comes out from pack in front of you near your waist.

  • tanks for the insight

    awful

    ok, I'll stick with sailing

  • @jumpmaster1906 ..My dad is a jump master too :D

  • Hi gunslayer201,

I found it on the Halo 2 soundtrack.

Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin

Could not find it on iTunes or Amazon (as a .mp3).

  • Limewire, finds almost anything including blow me away

  • Anybody know what the music is he used?

  • USA ROCKS!!!!

  • Any other country talks shit, well nuke you.

  • that's why i'd rather stay a Marine hinding behind my nice scope. At least i know my feet are on the ground all the time.

    an 0317

    3/5 Dark Horse

    Kilo

  • neat video.

    or videos....

y do they record the jumps for legal action just in case?

  • they do it to record any mistakes or malfunctions to critique it all, they film the jump from inside the bird 2, not only that but its pretty impressive sight to see from the ground, best time of my life.

  • AIRBORNE!!!

  • All the Way!!!

  • what happened with him? opened reserve or what? is he alive? i have a video with the reserve opened jumping in Honduras,

  • If this is the jump I am thinking of, he did survive. I was on a few of these test jumps in '96 and I don't remember any fatalities.

  • That was me in 1996 and I was able to open the reserve about 150-200 ft off the ground.

  • tell me what happened, i am from Honduras and i am a paratrooper too. what did you feel when you saw the cigarrete, i imagine that the fear makes you fast, did you have time to the fear? or just opened the reserve? you know, in the Honduras airborne school the instructors say: if you have to open the reserve, keep the hook(mango de apertura de la reserva) put on your mouth or in the right pocket. is the same with you? excuse me to much questions. is just curiosity. see you and thanks for answer.

  • I knew quickly that something was wrong. There was no opening shock and I was just falling in a reclined postition, like I was in a chair. I looked up and saw the cigarette roll and thought "oh shit". I grabbed the reserve handle, pulled hard and threw the handle like we are taught. The reserve opened slowly and jerked me hard at the hips. I had a second to look over my shoulder before I hit the ground hard. The funny part is that my Sgt joked that he cut my static line right before our exit.

  • whit sargents like that, to what i want enemys jajaja, in my opinion, it see like bad package. i dont know is just that from the begening of the exit you can see something is not good. the parachute is not deploying like the others. i have many historys about bad functions this is interest me and i have seen many videos where the exit is bad and the chute opens. well... gracias por compartir tu hitoria conmigo. (forgive my english please) see you and have a good jump.

  • you people look like jellyfishes hehehe

    ;D

  • thats why u look tha mutha fucka behind you directly in the eye and sound off with DONT RIDE MY PACK TRAY!!!!

  • We had the same problems when we first started jumping the 141. Hated that plane!

  • wow that was a ciggarette roll ive seen them simulated but never on an actual jump that close. 1/504 82

  • Look at 1:08 -1:18 In slow motion you can see a slim shape falling to the center bottom of the video. Very freakin scary!

  • looks to be another chute, possibly a reserve at that height?

  • reserve opens automaticaly or does he have to pull smtn else by himself?

  • dude i cant see the malfunction..what is the time counter where i can see it?

  • And yes the reserve opened at about 100ft off the ground.

  • Pretty spooky shit. It's nothing that PLF can prepare you for. Nothing REALLY prepares you for a malfunction, you just have to stay as cool as possible.

  • some times problems hapens but is good to know that you are ok.

  • There are was a flaw with the way the airflow came off the aircraft during early tests. I fell through the empty space inside the spinning air coming off the wings...at least that is what I was told by McDonald Douglas. This empty hole did not allow enough air to open the chute to a full canopy.

  • then it was not a malfunction, it was a problem of aerodinamic about the airplane. you know i see this enormous airplane on the videos, and i admirate it. but i didnot know that paratroopers have to test a new airplane.

4 years ago here in my country, the paratroopers batallion comander, was exiting a C-130 and the parachute does not opened(maewest), he activated the reserve and this rool over the principal. he has sustentation but not enough. he is on a weel chair.

  • cigarette roll?

can anyone tell how that happened.

  • did he opened reserve?

  • what the hell happened??
