I hope Don realized how much people not only dug his music and paintings but also appreciated him as a person. He'd didn't have much contact with the outside world after retiring from music in '82, yet his death feels like a huge loss. A great artist who will forever be fondly remembered. What else could anyone ask for?
@lamccaugh: True, the wobbly knees move is typical of the old Charleston. Whatever you want to call it, it was funny. And fun is something that, no matter how "out there" the good Captain's music got, was always present in his work.
The Captain really has a great voice. The harp playing is OK but I've heard him do some really kick ass harmonica playing on the "Strictly Personal" album.
Doug Moon, Jerry Handley, John French and Alex Snouffer in this video (audio sourced from A&M sessions most likely). Ry Cooder wasn't around yet, he was really never a member, more a session musician who thought about joining, but thought better of it. Note his absence in the Safe As Milk photo shoot, even though his slide is all over that LP.
ry was only around for the first album..safe as milk. diddy wah diddy was before that, and didn't appear on any album...but i don't know if he was on the a&m sessions
heard The Sonics version of this but it simply doesn't compare! listen to that bass, sounds like an electric heartbeat! you just cant get better than that
The Lynch Doumentary is from the 90's and is like 89 mins long. I saw it once in FYE, and thought man I need to buy this, and that was the one day I didn't have my wallett on me! :(
WOW Great THX

Filmed at the east end of Zuma Beach. They used extras and kept us locals out. Thata why they look so goofy in the water.
