But he also has a surrealist ( element, e.g. "[the guy who thought he was a chicken] pecking at things, like grain and his own feces." But then he'll be realistic: "his mind had been SHATTERED." In another talk show interview, he described Bob Costas' hair as "preternaturally black" & there was SILENCE 'cause no one knew what 'preternaturally' means. Too smart.

If you want to hear true pin-drop silence after one of Norm's funny lines (because no one gets it), look at the interview Norm did with Jay Leno in which Norm describes Bob Costas' hair, which had been darkened/colored, as "preternaturally black." SILENCE. I happened to know what 'preternaturally' means, and it's hilarious that he would use that word to desribe the blackness of his hair. But the audience & Jay Leno were too ignorant to get it.
