Great Video! It makes me wonder how we manuvered about with the five tons trailers and such. I always walked down town visting shops and watching the giant locomotives at the station. Also, their was a small river on the backside that was beautiful to walk along beside or hang out on the bridges. When you walked everywhere in BK,your memory of everything is much more clear of all the quaint beauty of that place.
For quite a long time after I arrived in 65 there was a hole in the fence behind the motor pool which we used on a regular basis to avoid Louis and his fellow MP's at the front gate late at night. It was a sad day when that other entrance was found and shut down.
Looked Rose Barracks up on internet and appeared to be closed now or it sure looked empty?? Stationed there as 8th S&T driver of my 5 ton called " Florida Boy" in 1971. Hauled Jp-4,105 ammo and sand bags to wherever. Also done a lot of drinking,it seem to go with the way it was, high or drunk....
@hanothekidd You are right, the Rose Barracks is closed. There is no Military anymore here in Bad Kreuznach. They pulled all the housings down and created a new courtplace there.
@hanothekidd It mades me kinda sad, when they started pulling all down. U know, i got a lot of good memorys about the old times.Spended a lot of time in the housing, had a few friends there, that was during the late 80s till the mid 90s. I was a kid in that time and loved the american way of life. The Airfield isnt anymore too, just the place on the Kuhberg is still like it was, with the Baseballfield, the BBQ area and stuff.
@Ritalinkopp One other place, I went up the hill ,half mile?and over a few blocks, stairwells that went straight up and that led down to a small road that went to the Hospital Club, like an NCO club, not a bad getaway and cheap.Going back 41 years, cant remember street names etc.
@hanothekidd Right, the Kuhberg is a place on top of the hill near the forest. I dont know if there even was a baseballfield and the BBQ Area 41 years ago. The Army did their manouvres there. In the town where the military hospital, two other bases and a small airfield where the some Hueys was based. I think BK wasnt the baddest place for US Soldiers, the most loved this small city and some stayed over here after they finished serving. Where did u go out in free time?

Nice! Was there Jan 68- Apr 69. Been wondering about Sophia's (Sophie's?) restaurant a couple freezing cold blocks from Rose.

@Ritalinkopp Hey thanks for the update. A courtyard might look better than those old barracks and motorpool Iam sure.Appreciate it Ritalinkopp.hano.
