My very first day in Japan..January 1, 1984 - a friend took me to Yoyogi Koen in Tokyo and these crazy kats were there...they have been shake, rattle and rolling for years...Great pomps.
It's really stupid for people to lay out strict rules and standards for any lifestyle. They may have their own take on rockabilly, and it sure isn't what other rockabillys and rockers think, but these guys are dedicated. they meet every sunday at yoyogi kohen, and dance pretty much all day. The guy who did the breakdance is Katsuji, he is the leader of this group, and he is a good guy. They all are. They are doing it for themselves too, not the tourists. Rock on katsuji and TRC!

Saw a rocking band at camber sands called The Traverlers all the way from Japan they could rock, sang in english but couldnt speak it one of them was flerting with me by enterpretur ah bless.dont know if the band are still together,
I was just at Yoyogi park yesterday (Sunday) and saw them rocking out. It's awesome to see some self expression after being surrounded by salary men all day. These guys and girls rock!

We can see a cultural difference here, and someone do it this way over there in japan, i think its cool to keep rockin this way - at least it's some change from the b-boys on the streets :D There are many ways of rockin' today :) That's their way and I like it (but i wouldnt do it... but it doesn't make any difference)
I have talked about this with brian setzer and Deke Dickerson and they both agree: its about the music first. If you dig the music you are rockabilly. If you like the style thats fine too, but you dont need a pomp and leather to be rockabilly. Rockabilly style is cool but it certainly isnt everything. Take away the clothes you still have the music, take away the music....well..
So you'd say Goths, Punkers, Emos?, Mods even, arn't a style aswell? I love the clothes (got a set myself, sadly my hair is abit crappy to get a pompadour) and i love the music even more!
punk style is nothing wothout real punk music, goths and emo on the other hand seem to have more posers among them than rockabilly and punk especially emo. But if kids wanna dress like they wan, (they always will), and follow a trend then more power to them. Just don't pretend to be some music expert while being a clothing snob.
I don't :) But i do have knowledge about my musicstyle mate, a full collection of All Setzers, Stray Cats, Cochran, Gene Vincent albums, some Perkins and Lewis isn't to bad for being 14, ey?

Saw a rocking band at camber sands called The Traverlers all the way from Japan they could rock, sang in english but couldnt speak it one of them was flerting with me by enterpretur ah bless.dont know if the band are still together,

I was just at Yoyogi park yesterday (Sunday) and saw them rocking out. It's awesome to see some self expression after being surrounded by salary men all day. These guys and girls rock!

U know wot guys and girls? We can see a cultural difference here, and someone do it this way over there in japan, i think its cool to keep rockin this way - at least it's some change from the b-boys on the streets :D There are many ways of rockin' today :) That's their way and I like it (but i wouldnt do it... but it doesn't make any difference)

I have talked about this with brian setzer and Deke Dickerson and they both agree: its about the music first. If you dig the music you are rockabilly. If you like the style thats fine too, but you dont need a pomp and leather to be rockabilly. Rockabilly style is cool but it certainly isnt everything. Take away the clothes you still have the music, take away the music....well..

So you'd say Goths, Punkers, Emos?, Mods even, arn't a style aswell? I love the clothes (got a set myself, sadly my hair is abit crappy to get a pompadour) and i love the music even more!

punk style is nothing wothout real punk music, goths and emo on the other hand seem to have more posers among them than rockabilly and punk especially emo. But if kids wanna dress like they wan, (they always will), and follow a trend then more power to them. Just don't pretend to be some music expert while being a clothing snob.

I don't :) But i do have knowledge about my musicstyle mate, a full collection of All Setzers, Stray Cats, Cochran, Gene Vincent albums, some Perkins and Lewis isn't to bad for being 14, ey?

not bad at all, and the clothes are great! the style is great, but its nothing without the music. Gene vincent wasnt just some guy standing onstage with a leather jacket doing nothing, he was rockin playing great music! Thats what its all about after all..
