It s a very common thing for the Chinese to not expose their full potential in the individual events, since they know that they can't get a medal individually and so that the swimmers could all save up their strength and energy to concentrate on the Team event...that s the usual strategy of Team China!!!

relays really bring out the best in swimmers IMO. also individually she had a low 1 07. with the relay start that should shave off a little over a second, putting her at about 1 05. and being that she didn't make it to the finals for the 100 breaststroke may have made her want to work harder for this and it would've given her more rest and less mental stress/fatigue leading up to this relay.

theres hasnt been many incidents cuz us steroids are too advanced to be detected so a lot of swimmers get away with it. same with east germans when they dominated swimming and olympics for awhile. now germans can barely medal once exposed. us swimmers r exposing too cuz they got 9 golds so far compared to 21 in 2007. its a bad sign but good for the sport in general.
