I have watched high school football games on the East and West Coast and in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and even once in New Mexico. I watched the Oregon State Championship games at Autzen Stadium back 10 or so years ago. I have not seen Ohio football yet but I have family who moved there from Texas last year. I would have to say that Texas California and Florida are 1 2 & 3.
FYI to the people who say Ohio had a crowd of 70,000 fans watch a hs game apperently heaard about a game that never existed cuz the largest Crowd for a hs game was 49,953 (Plano vs. Port Neches-Groves in Texas Stadium, which was the 1977 State Championship game) and most likely will be broken as trinity takes on pearland tonight at cowboys stadium in arlington.
According to the records 1 team has 3 of the top 10 attendance records in this State. That high school is Port Neches-Groves. They, it says, set the record vs Plano in 1977. It also says that they held the top 3 crowds in the Astrodome and the top one at Texas Stadium. They had 39500 at the 1999 State Championship game in the Dome. The record is just shy of 50,000 set at Texas Stadium in 1977. According to the book they routinely have 25000 plus in early playoff games.
You know what is crazy about this. This is not even the State of Texas record crowd for a Texas high school football game. There is one such school who beats them all in Texas for a crowd following. They are not even in the largest classification.

It was more like 55,000. The head guy in charge of operations at TX stadium for HS games is a graduate of the Irving school that holds the record of the highest attended HS game ever. He had them cut the attendance off for this game and start counting it towards the next.
