This is insane. No Fall protection, I guess the ground in NY is soft like a giant pillow. There isn't OSHS, L&I or any other safety enforcement there?
iN UK THIS JOB WOULD HAVE RAISED SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT SAFETY.... OR, IT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.... AS BOVIS, LAING O'ROURKE AND MANY OTHER SAY: SAFETY FIRST.... HELMET AT LEAST MUST BE WORN
No safety. That's not 'hard', it's fucking stupid. Still, the wives will get to collect a decent pension when the daft cunt falls off the rig or keels over 6 months after retirement like most of them do. Put in a life of sweat and don't get to enjoy it. Union pricks. Fucking slaves. That's all. The union bosses are the ones with the nice pad in the country and the sweet rides. These mugs just get hosed.
@jordzzzzzzz Still erection? you meant steel, right? The only thing still about my erection is when it's hovering and contemplating ploughing into your Mom's mouth. After that it's just a blur until I unload. Then it's still again.
no offense, but OSHA is stupid and obsolete. theres a much simplar and safer system they should be using. idustries dont want to spend the money to get people properly trained and change over. there is assistance grants but bribing politicians just happens to be cheaper. this is a major problem with BOTH companies AND their unions.
Hats off to the driver of the mobile crane... As for the erection of the crane lets see, traffic should have been stopped untill the frame or boom had been slewed over onto the construction site, no hard hats, safety harnesses were no-where to be seen. The crew was good but can't say much for their safety ethics. Here cranes go up or down with maximum safety precautions.
yeah there is quite a bit wrong here. It appers most aren't tied off at all, let alone 100% tied off with a double lanyard. Why is there traffic on the street where the tower is being lifted from? Close the whole damn street now just a couple lanes! If some rigging failed the entire thing could come down on passing by motorists. and no hard hats or safety glasses? wow. Oh and keep your hands out of pinch points while rigging. all it takes is a fraction of a second and your hand is gone.
Yeah terrific job especially by NY Crane who had two major tower crane collapses in NYC last year killing 8 people and causing millions in damage. Not to mention helping bring about the major headache which has now befallen all of us in renewing our Cherry Picker class C licenses and all hoisting licenses. Yeah great job NY Crane.
New York Crane has a lot of equipment they rent out TO OTHER rigging companies. This company is New York Rigging which has a stellar reputation for safety. If you would do your homework/research..you will find that a majority of rigging equipment is rented out by LOMA. So yeah..terrific job of THINKING before "speaking your commentary".

@steve5232 I was wondering the same.. seems crazy. We had to wear fall lanyards on anything over 10' in the oil fields.

Surprising to see no safety harness with this being in New York. I would expect to see OSHA all over that.

That crane belong to Daniel Marr and son a steel erector from Boston. I ran that
crane for two years on jobs in Boston. it was great for setting iron it has a very
fast line speed just right for steel.
