  • Your wright on with that one, the last batch I bought I payed $23 per but I took 12 off the guy so he let em go for $19. So now I have 24 italian wool blankets so you can Imagine how happy my wife was when I brought home a pile of mothy smelling blankets LOL!

  • Italian Navy Wool Blanket, Navy Blue 6 lbs 3 ozs @ Sportsman's Guide as of 2/13/12

    82x64 100% wool $35.97 each.

  • Hey Adam, new subscriber. About 3 yrs ago picked up three of these blankets for about $20 from CTD along with a 1/2 dozen 5 gal NATO fuel cans. Peace. Jim

  • Where ya been Adam?

  • Hard to fine 100% wool blankets but you can still find the 70 & 80% wool blankets.

  • Yeah I've been looking for ages, no luck. I might order a Woolrich Cival War blanket instead. Their Gettysburg model is about $90 but made in the USA and good quality.

  • Yeah bro, the Italian blanket is very hard to find right now. I can't seem to find anything worth purchasing.

  • @Equip2Endure After your review I ordered one of those blankets online. The shop said that these blankets had been treated by the Italian army with an insect repellent and that they should be washed before being used. Now the package has arrived and the blanket stinks like hell. It has been impregnated with naphthalene. Naphthalene is really toxic and not water solvent. I think I will sent the blanket back. Were your blankets ever impregnated with naphthalene?

  • Check out sportmansguide I believe in my catalog they have quite a few from different countries as well as sizes.

  • @kuribo1 They've been out of the Italian wool blankets for a while now. They haven't even had the norm US military wool blankets for awhile.

  • Awesome I was looking for one of these but couldn't find any until now.

  • Hi Adam and Thank You !

The check went out in the mail yesterday for mine.

I have been using a WW1 blanket that was handed down in the family.

It is pretty small and very light, however being 100% whool it is still really great to use.

My Italian whool blanket is being shipped from Maine Military, I payed $56.99, that includes shipping from Maine to Califronia.

I don't mine spending that much $ because after all I am using a whool blanket that was made during world war one.

    Extrmly HAPPY here !

  • OH and I know that Rothco makes a knock off, but with their record, I don't think it'd be any good.

  • I've seen them on Mainemilitary as well, and well.. sometimes the Sportsmans Guide ...man though did they go quickly, I'm glad I picked up one and now it's sitting as a blanket for my bed haha.

  • I had this when i made the military service

  • Mainemilitary has them in stock

  • I just saw them 10 blankets for $50 on Ebay UK. They were "grade 2", so I guess they have some small flaws.

  • Thanks for the heads-up! I just went to the same surplus store here in Utah, and bought 5 of them for $25 each. These things are fantastic, and they've got about 20 of them left. Now my livingroom smells like mothballs...

  • @TheHammertoss I live in Utah too. Which surplus store did you find it at?

  • @TheAtarashiikaze General Army & Navy, on Redwood Road.

  • In the UK, these (used surplus) go for around £20 on ebay which is about $30. Maybe you could try ordering it from the UK to save money? Thanks man, another good vid btw

  • Hi Adam.

KS keepshootingdotcom has Polish wool blankets for 24.95. I have 4 pf theese and 1 Italin wool blanket. I find them equal in quality. Would like your opinion.

  • By the way Adam "worth their weight in gold" equates to about $9000 per blanket. Damn that inflation! ;)

  • Adam, Maine Military Supplies has them. I got one a few weeks ago. Looks just like the one you had in one of your videos with the tan stripes. Very nice people there. Love mine! Also, gotta love the smell of moth balls in the morning......lol

  • @ReeperzOutdoors spke to soon. Its the same blanket. My interenet at work is very slow.

  • Adam good video as always. keepshooting has polish blankets. Good quality, no unsightly stains nor aromas. Limited quantity of 35 or so in stock. Good luck and the best for the new year.

  • 10 second commercial on the Discovery Channel.....Adam: "Italian wool blankets,... MMMmmm, Love that mothball goodness!"...........buy yours now for three simple payments of ????

  • The Bay, department store, which the oldest business in North America, still makes their traditional Hudson Bay blankets. They're by no means cheap, but this is really something you invest in once.

  • Have only been able to find the cheap "pressed" wool or wool blend blankets in West Michigan and they STILL bring big bucks. Have found some 100% wool blankets on line but they are small and very expensive. Do you have a line on these Italian blankets? Thanks...good video!

  • believe it or not, but this blanket is very cheap in Italy under 10€. They're given on the night trains.

  • Sniff mmmmmmmm love that moth ball goodness........ Nice Adam.

  • heaps of them here in australia for around $30

  • @coopsbrewer

I can get them at the same rate here in Germany, too. Tons of them...

  • Three..... Hoarde! Haha i have one myself and would like a second but they are too pricey as they are scarce. I look forward to the blanket tricks tips video

  • yeah you can get them at mainemillitarysupply (dot) com. in belfast. i was thinking of heading up there and checking them out. but they do have some u.s. surplus blankets for 15- 25 (depending on condition) so i will have to see the quality of both of them.

  • I did a quick Google search $45 mainemilitary dot

  • Sportsman's guide did have some

  • You didn't mention how it is great at protecting you during a fire as its made out of all natural fiders. I keep one in the car at all time especialy during summer as bushfires are a real concern here.

  • The wool comes from Merino sheep, I have no idea why we don't produce stuff of the same quality here

  • Hey Adam! I got a really good video idea, how bout you show us how you sharpen your knives?

  • What would be a good replacement for a good wool blanket? Reason being I am allergic to wool.

  • For the past 3 years I have noticed a trend with a few website's. During late summer and early fall you can get them at several sites like Sportsman Guide. Once it get's cold out the better blankets like the Italian and Swiss are almost impossible to find. I took 2 of the Swiss 100% wool blankets and had them sewn together. This one weighs around 10 lbs but is the warmest blanket I have ever used. I mainly look for 100% wool then weight vs size to decide if I want to buy one.

  • Been trying to buy some myself. I have found the knockoffs, yet haven't been able to find the real deal.

  • My mom has a bunch of these that we got from my uncle. They are grey and really heavy duty.

  • goggle mainemilitary

  • Bought mine back when the Kenyan tyrant was first elected. Cheaper than dirt use to have a bunch of them...Italian brand I believe.

  • Some more info directly from the website.

"These excellent wool blankets are huge and provide proven warmth as they were originally designed for the Polish Armed Forces". The blankets are on sale now for only $23.95. The one I got smelled fresh and clean.

  • @cbarsonfire Where????

  • @roaming1978

A company called Keepshooting. Keepshooting(dot)com. Polish Army and real thick. The blanket I received is a mid colored grey. Much more thick than the U.S. GI ones.

Looks like they have maybe 42 left in stock.

  • @cbarsonfire Thanks brother!

  • @cbarsonfire So , I checked the site out and was going to pick one up but I noticed on the site it just says wool blanket doesn't specify the % of wool? I called and customer service said they don't read polish? so they don't know either..what does your tag say as far as wool percentage? Thanks bro

  • @roaming1978

I just received information form the owner of KeepShooting and he indicated the blankets are 100% wool. This is based on information form the importer.

  • I kept putting off getting one from a surplus store in Ft.Worth, TX then I just recently went to purchase one with a buddy of mine and they were out and said they may never get them again. Really sucks.

  • A company called Keepshooting has real thick Polish wool blankets in new condition for like 24 bucks.

  • I have 3 but it took me a year to track them down : (

  • Comment removed

  • Love my wool blanket! It does take up a lot of space in my kit but you can also wear it as a cape/hood if you need the bag space. These are a must have for hunting, bushcraft, camping/hiking, prepping, or whatever you're into...I find mine on amazon for 20-40$...dealers will very. I've found that the places with real 100% wool have a limited stock, so once they're gone they're gone. But the 80% US Wool are very common and easy to get for under $20. Always wash them well before you use it...

  • Adam, please let us know if you figure out where to find them. I'd like to buy a couple, i havent been able to find them anywhere.

  • I just recently purchased a couple from w w w . mainemilitary . c o m for 45 bucks each.

  • Yeah I ended up having extreme difficulty finding a 100% wool blanket, I settled with a large italian wool blanket that was 60% wool 40% cotton ( Eh had to be a trade off) but it still does it's just nicely.

  • Adam, I purchased that same blanket at Sportsman's Guide several months ago around $28. It seems they do not have any in stock now, but you probably can email their customer service to find out when they getting some more. When I first got this blanket it had a very strong odor of moth balls. I left it outside for two weeks inside my screened gazebo and the smell of moth balls is gone.

  • @winmag22 take a lighter to a corner of it for a few seconds if it melts it's not 100%. Pure wool is very flame retardant

  • I'm so glad I got mine a year ago !

  • I have some old wool blanket and I like to know if some way I can tell if they are pier wool

  • bk2 convex cutting test. that would be a nice vid

  • These are awesome

  • Sorry if youve mentioned this before, but how would you best use it on the ground to sleep,. ect.?, or just post a lnk to previous discussions.

    Thanks Adam!

  • dosent have to be italian, everyone makes wool blankets

  • i just ordered on from a website that i cant remember...

  • Is it true that they are fire resistant to a certain degree?

  • I have a couple Italian Wool blankets I picked up from a surplus store. They are 100% wool and very heavy, but stink of moth balls. I was told they were in storage since the 1950's! They are awesome, just smelly. The Army surplus I purchased mine from is Trader John's. They have about a hundred in their shop, as well as many different kinds. Not sure if they have a web site for ordering, I'm local so I drive there.

  • @lazydogdied i washed mine "made it smell super strong" but then if u set them in the sun for a few days it help 1000%

  • Have to post a link on your site that might help, a little.

  • Good info man, tfs!

  • When you dislike, it would be nice to have some feedback on why you disliked....just my opinion on a channel like this. I'm sure Adam wouldn't be offended.

  • @hanslollick93 Exactly. I was the 21'st person to watch the video. And I was wondering why someone gave him a thumbs down for no reason.

  • @xSluggySlugworthx Yeah...if this was a song or some BS i really wouldn't have posted the comment. But Adam does this type of stuff for OUR benefit. So, if you don't agree with him or what he's reviewing, leave a comment after a thumbs down. It's easy

  • great video! hey, this is kind of not pertaining to this video but, i own a becker bk2 and what would be a good way to perform just basic maintenance on it? like cleaning the blade and sharpening it? what would u advise?
