When your country is crime and poverty stricken, nobody tends to notice massacres because they happen all the time. When disasters like 9/11 happen in a civilized country, they tend to draw more attention.

The September 11th attacks were an invitation for the U.S. to join the world? With all due respect, Rita, but what an utter load of nonsense! How profane of you to use your brother's murder and all the other murders of the attacks of September 11th to advance your anti-Bush, leftist political agenda. Shame on you.

@rippinsteo ??? You completely missed it. Rita HATED the fact that they used her brother's death to invade Afghanistan. I think it changed America's world because it' s the biggest and most recent national tragic we've had since Pearl Harbor, not to mention how much it drained our economy that a significant amount of Americans are disparing in. There was a sense of great insecurity among our country after 9/11, and I think Rita was trying to convey that let's not put a bubble around ourselves.
