A bit of clarification obviously needed.

a) there are many Londonderrys worldwide. 2 in the US, Australia, England, Canada, an island in Chile and yes, northern Ireland.

b) Londonderry IS now called Derry. The old walled city of Londonderry is on the west bank of the river foyle and old Derry on the east bank. Both are now grouped together to form the city of Derry.

The song does refer to the old walled city.

Ello, I'd just like to say that songs like this suit you better, some songs you try too hard to reach beyong your current ability (e.g: "Iris - Goo Goo Dolls", when you sing the chorus near the end, if I remember). Still, I'm lovin the vids, this one is one of your better ones. The same as Dylans song you sang "If you see her, say hello" and "...follow you into the dark" by Death Cab for Cutie and Kwellers' "lizzy".

Thanks for the support but I do disagree with you on a couple of levels. Firstly I don't believe Iris was beyond my current ability, I think it turned out really well and it is my top rated/viewed video.

Secondly if I settled with playing easy songs I would never have progressed beyond playing 'amazing grace' or 'yellow submarine'. You'll never get anywhere if you don't push yourself.

I think this song is top notch. I really do. It is absolutely fantastic and I find myself returning to this page just to listen to it again. But I do agree with theprimordialprince, Iris wasn't done as well as this. Not to say you didn't do a good job, you did, it just so happens Iris is one of those near untouchable songs that almost cannot be covered excellently.
