The Resistance is an amazing album. It sucks that it gets bad rep from a lot of fans who were into their older stuff. Muse could probably make an album oriented towards the sounds like that on Showbiz and OOS, but they dont want to. They just want to write something they themselves will enjoy and feel good about, and of course, them being the rock band that they are, thousands upon thousands will love them for it.

they're music hasn't changed, they've become more organized which is something that comes with experience. Their music is still very chromatic, and a muse-like interpretation of classical... they just don't go into complete sonic chaos as often which is fine by me considering that was done largely to compensate them for not having mastered their instruments, which they've definitely have done by now id say.

Main stream? I wouldn't call it that. They became a more popular band because more people were beginning to hear them and realize how amazing they were.
