I heard this on NPR late at night a few days ago and i was like "who is this guy? maybe it's Herbie Hancock", his version of this song is so funky and I love all his "out" stuff so i felt compelled to look him up. He's freakin amazing!!
@shankpeterman This is the most arrogant comment I have ever read on youtube. And it's a difficult thing to do... Congratulations for that. You get my thumbs up! Just for that. "ahah, hly shit, could NEVER!" That seriously made me laugh.
@MiguelBordalo You really think this guy sounds a thing like Herbie? I can't count how many times young (highschool and early-college aged) musicians will put a hip-hop or funk beat to this tune. They usually grow out of that phase. Most arrogant comment? I didn't say anything about my playing. Herbie just happens to be one of the most significant musicians of the 20th century and this guy doesn't have an articulation, concept or shitty rhythm section like this guy. Drummer sounds like shit.
@shankpeterman He doesn't sound like Herbie, and Herbie doesn't sound like anyone. This guy doesn't sound like anyone also, he has own thing, and he is really good. He's a blue note guy. But this Miloshevits listen to this guy and it reminded him of Herbie Hancock, it's nothing out of the ordinary, just a simple comment, what he felt like listening to him. Your comment has three consecutive moments putting him down, while making you this great expert. Thus - arrogant.
@MiguelBordalo Yeah it makes me look like a bit of an ass, but the idea was to be laughing at the idea that this guy and herbie could ever be considered on a level playing field. I was commenting on the music, not miloshevits.
@shankpeterman Well, I see your one of the good guys... Sorry if I was harsh. In what jazz is concerned, I think it's great to have different guys playing it in different ways. I mean Herbie Hancock is a genius, maybe this guy is not, but he is a dam good piano player, just listen to more. All the best to you.
