  • 5 seeds! Not as sweet as you think! ;o

  • 140 jimmy saville chatting some girl up rip jimmy x

  • Johnnie Walker was the first voice of TOTP2. Then they spoilt things by giving it to Steve Wright with his stupid comments.

  • this reminds me of the mungo jerry song summertime.

  • @eydie57 its almost the same isnt it - i wouldve sworn they were the same band.

  • 40 years old? Fuck...

  • lol, England took this from Australia and left 'Eagle Rock' alone... ha ha ha

  • is that a bloke in a low cut top at 1.32?

  • Lolsa oh yeah Thumbs up if this reminds you of Paul Hogan chasing Delvene Delany in his Uncle Aurthur Cardy on his pushy.

  • You know how black people say white people cant dance... 0:47-1:02....... is all i have to say about that

  • If your a teenager now then keep your eyes open for your grandparents grooving away...

  • dancing is a laugh and happy faces ,

  • pretty bad but fun to watch!

  • 40 yrs ago its unbelievable

  • For the very popular Czech version - several decades old - search YouTube for:

    slapaci kolo

  • Fantastic!

  • sounds like a sequel to brand new key by melanie

  • omg! the dancing!

  • The drummer is not touching the skins with his sticks.

  • @pingtran Yes, and have you noticed how the jack lead from the lead singer's bass guitar terminates on the floor just behind him?

  • @pingtran

  • A bicycle is Rebecca Black's perfect transport... there's only one seat.

  • -___- beat is in the summertime lol

  • Good grief, I hated this song so much

  • Man alive there's some totty in that audience. I think attractive women should be required by law to wear miniskirts - like a perverse polar opposite of Sharia law.

The ones who cannot dance always make me laugh on TotP, they look they're almost in pain.

  • I WAS ALIVE IN THE 70S, CANT REMEMBER WEARING ANYTHING LIKE THIS THOUGH.

  • roy west

  • Liking the lady in the black top at 1:35

  • @TheRazorbladesmile Yeah me too, a studded collar back then - Raunchy!

  • Times looked so innocent back then and compared to today, I know because I was a 14 yr old and enjoying myself with the music back then. Everything stopped on a Thursday evening at 7 for TOP OF The Pops

  • 0.37-.41 the drummer's not hitting the drums!

    Mimed of course

  • That steve wright is a pain in the arse !

  • Sure I can see Lily Savage dancing away there!

  • pure 70,s class in have it on vinal 33 rpm lp

  • oh dear..............

  • i loved this when i was a kid still remember the words and actions i used to do to this day excellent

  • look at the curly wig girl at 1:33..lol :)

  • @covinafalconer Thats my mum!

  • Listen to how easy on the ear this ..so innocent, so decent , no filth , no sex, no drugs , no whoring, no drum machine , no screaming , a real drummer , clean faces , clean smiles , .. Compare it to the vile evil satanic sewage that masquerades as music today ..

  • @DabAndrew the girls are beautiful in the video

  • @apinkthong They are ..and they haven't been whoring all their life like the tarts in modern pop videos have ..Just decent girls having a night out in London

  • didn;t the mixtures do a cute little song called Dazzle Easy Diane? Can't find it on youtube... can anyone help?

  • @sandidi211 I used to have it, it was called 'I dazzle easy, Diane' the b side was something like 'I've found out where it's at'. It was released about '74,

    Good song like you say.

  • @degooser2000 yes, that's the song... is it on youtube anywhere? I couldn't find it.

  • i'M sorry but I have NEVER laughed so hard in my life. This song and video are CHEESY...! Man, do I smell "gay" in this crowd. The singers hair, the "che" sounds being made, the tight pants showing off balls n peckers it'sjust to much. What is up with the fans!!?? I'm sure someday my generation of music will be laughed at, and I am fine with it! But now it's my generation and I AM LAUGHING MY ASS OF AT THIS !!!!!!!

  • @covinafalconer It's a great song mate ..great tune to it , great beat, everything a pop song should be ..no-one is gay , the fashion is as it was at the time , and this song and thousands like it from the period will never leave my head ..unlike the shit of today and your generation ..which is shit shit shit and always will be ..

  • @DabAndrew I HOPE u see me years from now dancin on a stage next to Maynard James Keenan rubbin on him while he sings PrisonSex or next to Mars Volta while they sing the Widow or Disturbed or Perfect Circle or Puscifer etc etc

  • @apinkthong Actually , I don't know any of your generation's music right now . I've never heard of those you mention and I never will ..In my time, I loved what was current, and have loved the same all my life .My collection is all from 60& 70s..it's all I ever play . If I loathe and detest all modern ( shit ) as I do , ( and don't even know it, right now) how on earth will I remember it 30 years from now ( and I'll be dead anyway )

  • @DabAndrew I'll have to agree with you here. I'm 17 (almost 18), and have hardly listened to "my generation's" music -- a lot of young people I know don't listen to modern music -- we don't think it's nearly as good as classic rock.

  • whys there bike in the movie

  • 1.35 thats my mum & auntie

  • What is the difference between this song and Mungo Jerry's In the Summer Time. Not that I am complaining.........

  • @originalpauper In the early 70's there was a ban by Australian radio stations playing overseas music due to royalty issues. The Mixtures had a deal going with Mungo Jerry to record their songs in Australia. Thus the sound. This song was a written by the Mixtures but later recorded by Mungo Jerry.

  • hope hot pants dont ever come back I hate em so much

  • @Forestamtul I don't :))

  • young uns wore more interesting clothes then

  • Bulge 0:32 lol

  • You could just replace the word Pushbike with Segway to make it a song for 2010 America.

  • Great seeing all those early 70s young ladies in the audience dancing. Shame TOTP2 always have to put those annoying captions over everything.

  • wasn't this on play school?

  • The girl at 1.10 reminds me of Andrea McClean (the former GMTV weather girl)

  • wow can't believe how pretty the girls were back then, so fresh looking!!! What the hells happened to the girls now lol. Love the drummer, he doesn't hit the drums at all. All the same love the song.

  • Whats the name of this song and who sings it?

  • @elmoallan55 This is called The Pushbike Song, by the Mixtures. The Mixtures were from Australia I believe. This came out in the early 70s.

  • @elmoallan55 AHHH READ CAPTION ABOVE.....

  • I used think Mungo Jerry sung this

  • @bryemycaz funny enough though their first hit single in Australia was in fact a cover of 'in the summertime'

  • good ol dad in the yellow ^^

  • Fantastic!!!! I haven't heard this song in ages!!!!! Since I was a little kid!!! :)

  • is the drummer on mogadon

  • AWESOME song <3

  • See, I keep expecting "Timmy" (Robin Asquith) to accidentally knock something over and in the chaos one of the girls to lose their top..............especially the bird in the wig and plunging neck line at 01.30.

I know, the Confessions films were later than this but who cares ??

  • the song suddenly came to me whilst listening to R2, glad I found it-great memories of Blackpool as a young lad...

  • Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • ssh oo oo aah

  • Прекрасно!

Я поставила танец под эту песню... не поверите, весь построенный на дробях.

(У меня версия чуть быстрее и отчётливее слышны удары).

    Спасибо за такую потрясающую композицию!

  • A record you wouldn't get nowadays, as everything is so corporate and boring.

  • my dad's in that vid! hes the one in the yellow jumper XD good ol dad

  • ambers dad was in this band!! no joke!!!

  • I think this is a brilliant song i loved riding my bike love Shirlsxx

  • The people there have remembered they're supposed to dance but seemingly forgot they're supposed to enjoy it

  • No. 2 in the UK charts on Decimal Day.

  • Comment removed

  • andrea mclean ????you must be joking she is much better looking than the minge bag on this video

  • Why were girls better looking in those days?

  • Probably because they were more innocent.

  • Yes, you are probably right.

  • everyone was high noone cared

  • How cool is this song i sing it in choir

  • Andrea Mcclean from Loose women btw lol

  • The girl on the left at 1;30 reminds me so much of Andrea mcclean!

  • Have a look at the singers guitar lead towards the end of this clip. One end is plugged into his bass and the other is lying on the floor of the stage!

  • what happened to gary howard the drummer in this clip. also his brother darren. havent seen them for years. from an old gold coast mate

  • hi i am one of garry's students he's my drum teacher. He lives in cairns hope i helped whats your name by the way i will let him know next time i see him.

  • Hi mate, Phil my name. . I travelled to Cairns with him and his wife. We stayed in House On Hill where he played with the band there. Must have been around 1981 ?? Anyway hope he and darrel are well. Please pass on my fondest regards.

  • oh really. i will be sure to pass onto him next week. thanks

  • Wow, I hadn't heard this song ANYWHERE since '70 or 71, but I knew every word and could sing right along. Wonder why it's never played on the oldies stations? Did it chart in the USA? I heard it on a little AM station out of New Brunswick, Canada as a kid. Fredericton, I think.

  • you remind me when i was a little girl

  • The observant ones of you will notice that the Guitar Lead is just laying on the floor.

  • I said David hamilton.....but they're all the same. Like Noel Coward said..'The Beatles are completely without talent'...but he arrived at a show they were doing and grandly announced 'Tell the Beatles Noel Coward is here'....Lennon passed a message back to the stage door...'Tell him to fuck Off' '.......don't you just love it!......from Liverpool.

  • Why did David hamilton choose to insult these lads...'Skiffle or Piffle ' he said..and 'Was that a wig or a hat he was wearing'....I guess it's because he was a little shortarse himself...you know ..'The small man syndrome'..He wasn't paid to offer caustic comments on the TV....they're all the same these people ...They start to believe that they have some form of talent because they are the ones talking...he's just another in a long line of fucking minge bags.

  • I am afraid to ask but, what is a "Minge Bag"?

  • WELL TUG MY TODGER, WOT A SONG!

  • i love this one

  • why did people stop dancing so good?

  • ooh

    i love the dancing

i wish i had lived in in those times

i got stuck with stupid 2000's

  • Yet another crap comment by Steve Wright at the end of that clip. My nomination for the TOTP2 presenters job goes to Johnnie Walker.

  • Great song, another excellent clip. TOTP2 is a great idea, but why does that logo keep coming up, taking up the bottom third of the screen? Is it a "spoiling" tactic, something to do with copywright? If so, then that's a shame. If it's there - perhaps - as an "improvement", then I hope that the one responsible dies a slow, painful death.

  • strawberry 7lynn...you might be right over the spoiling tactics of the TV people...watch how they quite often keep guitar heads out of shot even on close ups..that's where the manufacturers name usually is and they get thousands of pounds worth of free publicity....they have a problem with drum kits as the name is usually on the front skin...some shots of drummers are very brief because of that...anyone being interviewed on TV is told not to wear clothes with the makers name on the front.

  • i love this song when i was kid...so funky and groovy! thanks for this rare video~~

  • THAT'S A MOSH

  • I love the girl in the purple dress! she looks like she's stuck in mud and is trying desperately to free herself!

  • Look at the girls here..early 20's.... now compare early 20 yr olds now..They don't even look old enough to have left school! At least back then women were women, not little girls like they are now; and very much more mature too!

  • It wont be long until P.Diddy gets this song under his treatment.

  • When I was a kid, I always used to confuse these guys with Mungo Jerry - not surprising since the Mixtures did a crappy cover of In The Summertime. Actually, I had this song mixed up with MJ's "Lady Rose".

  • Until very recently I too thought this song was by Mungo Jerry!

  • You could be forgiven for that.

Mungo Jerry did cover the song, which was only fair since The Mixtures covered Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime.

  • and whats Sir Jimmy saville getting upto at 1:40...

  • watch the 2 birds one looks really deadly serious and the one with the big hair looks like an undercover copper looking for drugs lol

  • I am not convinced he is actually playing the drums with his sticks at 0.35 secs

    is it just me?

  • You're probably right, actually. All the bands on TOTP mimed to their own backing tracks (although at least they remembered to plug the guitars in this time!)

  • funny memories at my youth

I say: oooooh oooooh oooooh oooooh aaaaaah

  • Saw The New Seekers last night, their lead singer was in The Mixtures. He played The Pushbike Song, got the audience to do the "shhhh, ooh-ooh" stuff. It was really fun!

  • It's Steve Wright's idea of humour.

He ruins TOTP2 with his smartarse comments, slagging off good records.

  • He didn't write the scripts; they were written by 'comedy' writers, which is why so many of the 'facts' are wrong.

  • OMG.. the dancing.. lols

and the fashions.. what would they say about today's fashions and dance styles?

    hmmmmmm

  • as opposed to the dance gigs at drum and base parties... or dance sessions at underground gigs back in the early 90's... or choreographed Spritney Beers and he dance sessions.. hmm... yeah, tipping the Pepsi generation will look awesome in 5 years, let alone 30!!!

  • I m sure that short man (middle of screen at 00:57) had his own walkman listening another song. I promise you!

  • gotta love the fake playing of the drums! :) classic! go top of the pops!

  • I saw Brenton Fosdike sing this song last night

  • Why do they insist on putting up stupid comments on the screen during this show? Steve Wright is annoying too! They should just let us enjoy the music.

  • atrocious but a great thing to see again. may leave it another 35 years though..

  • "Ooh! Sing this song!"

  • one of the ladys looks like my mom! and she was like 30 when this song came out

  • Brilliant! I love it

  • Great to see them in colour. If anybody out there has a vid of Captain Zero please post it. There might not be a clip of that song, but i am hoping.

  • Hi Spaceace40 I hope there is a vid of Capt. Zero also! as I wrote it with Mick Flinn way back then! But doubt one exists, We did it on a couple of T.V. shows in Oz! let me know if you track one down. Cheers

    Pete Williams

  • this is what you call a blast from the past!
