Alexander and Xenophon amazing for many reasons and one is that they dispelled the silly notion that people who come from sunny, benign climates are soft and unable to fight, let aone fight in extreme environments.

Alex and Xeno and their lean Hellenic led armies pushed and pursued enemies deep into snowy mountains and beyond.

It is akin to how so many brave Americas from sunny places like Florida and Texas and California can wage war and win any battles in the very same Hindu Kush range.
