you have a turkish angora too? omg isnt it amasing how they can balance and sit on 3 inch of the inside part of the air conditioner to look outside and can jump everywhere like cruching tiger hidden dragon and not even knock anything over?
Is the cat in the video declawed? Just like a blind person learns to rely more on sound... or a hearing-impaired person learns to rely on sight in place of sound... a declawed cat will learn to rely on its teeth in place of claws. I might just be an over-sensitive Bengal-lover but there are several clips on the video where the cat seems to want to use its claws but nothing is there.
I have a tortie that does this same thing... The worst part is, my other cat, a Russian blue absolutely loves sleeping in boxes ... so every box he finds, the other destroys.
One of our cats loves to chew on cardboard, too. Got her from a shelter and don't know what breed mixes it is for sure, but it MUST be part bengal. She chews more than any DOG I know!
Bengal cats are high energy and get bored easily. They're like a high energy bored dog, they find something to keep themselves busy, which is often destructive. Any breed can be destructive like this, but high energy and more intelligent breeds, like the bengal, are particularly prone to it.
LOL, my Bengal cat tears at boxes too, he also seems to fancy licking drapes, meowing in fans, and talks non-stop. They're a quirky breed that love to get into trouble, which makes them great fun. :)
my bengal ;loves boxes too! i have a massive store where i have new furniture for when i move, and she shredded most of the corners of the boxes bless her! shes such a sweetie tho!
lets see "talks" yup. carboard distruction, yup. spotted stripes, yup. runs the house, yup. likes showers, yup. trys to remove your pants, yup. does tricks, yup. runs the house, yup. very pretty, yup. very Loud, oh yes.
I swear I think my cat might be part Bengal!! He tears apart boxes like this, he talks all the time, and he is striped/spotted. He's not as thin as most bengals seem to be though and his face isn't the same but he has big ears lol.
My cat is a Maine Coon and he gets just like this with cardboard boxes. This year is his first christmas tree and boxed presents pile. We're awaiting his reaction.
Bengals are actually one of the cat breeds that I would LOVE to have. However, I do know that they can be quite a handful and you have to have the proper home for them which (unfortunately), we do not have. "Sniff"
@DPO263 We have six bengals and an old moggy. All the bengals are housecats, no common sense for the garden, the moggy goes out because she always has. You need to get these cats either in pairs or get a bengal and a young cat. When we got the first, it was just her and the old mog, and she became bad-tempered and moody. Got her brother a year later, kittens this summer just gone (mum and dad now spayed, kittens me and my mum own) and she a happy, playful cat. Aside from that, no cont.
@DPO263 "proper home" is needed, they act like dogs, in a more athletic body. They do need scratch posts, but if you get one bengal one youngish cat, you'll find the other cat will calm it down. Spraying, either neuter or do what we did at first; spray their arse with rose or lemon water when they want to spray, and keep wood furniture covered. Three of ours never left the grey fuzzy stage though, so if it's the markings you're after, go for the more expensive cats.
@animallover25f Yeah, rescued cats can have some personality problems. I used to donate time to an animal shelter, saw more than a few cats come through the door that had some major trust issues. I worked with them personally best as I could, but there were some I didn't even dare go near.
As a pet owner of 3 Bengals 1 angora and 2 domestics I understand what you mean - however no-one should ever disguard a pet becasue it doesnt " agree" with them or their lifestyle, those who do are lower than scum.
@oooVortexooo Well, in general, since these cats are not naturally found in shelters, it is wise to find out the type of animal you are getting into when you are buying one for thousands of dollars from a breeder. They are always going to be big, energetic cats who will stimulate themselves when you aren't around. If you have a house that is immaculate...you'd be much better served with a less expensive, less destructive, less WILD cat.
@oooVortexooo so you're saying even though a pet would be incredibly inconvenient in my lifestyle such as : I work all day so I should leave my bengal cat all alone for 12 hours while it tears up the house, I should still get one? That's a load of crap go give it to a toilet.
@kevinpenagaguy Naw what I think they meant was more like if they already GOT the pet, and then got bored of it or it didn't agree with their lifestyle, that they abandon it. That is what I think the person meant by "people who discard pets because it doesn't agree with their lifestyle are scum." I agree that discarding a pet, aka abandoning it, or "setting it free" are scum.
Females in heat will also spray every surface of your house. Just FYI before you buy. Know what you are getting yourself into before getting a "COOL" animal that you know nothing about and will give away because you didn't foresee difficulties. That goes for any living thing.
Oh good, it's not just my Scottie who has a personal vendetta against all cardboard. He's also gone after my Kindle a few times, but I've been near enough to rescue it in time.
That's what my cat does.. Lol. She's no where near a bengal though, xD just some american black short hair. Everytime she sees a cardboard box, she hides in it and chews on it.
My cousin used to have a bengal (she was unfortunately run over and she was very small, RIP Inara) and she had an expensive taste in expensive leather bags...
I distinctly remember my siamese chewing a hole in the box of his biscuits, and then bringing in a baby rat and dumping it into the newly made hole to delight me next time i fed him!
Yup, my cats have their favourite cardboard box here in our room, too. They paw at it, rip strips off of it, and just generally make a mess everywhere. I love watching them play with it, it's cute.
My Bengal is also obsessed with destroying cardboard boxes and magazines. He's can also open the nightstand drawer and kitchen cupboards to get at his treats.
My snow bengal is about 3 months now...she is a thief..does everything 200 mph...and loves to climb. If you want a challenge get one of these kitties. They are hilarious. Mine also likes make squeeky sounding meow's. I am hooked on these cats now. They are gorgeous and good pets.
"MOM I is hungry...I just ated your box!!! Provide cat food or you're next!" Yes...I want a Bengal....my tabby cats are equally as naughty. Although they usually stick to toilet paper, paper towels...and bread. Bengals are so beautiful and intelligent....even if naughty. :P
Jackson, my 30 lb. MegaBengal, will only sharpen his 3/4" long (!!!) claws on cardboard boxes. This is fine and good, and saves on furniture and carpeting expenses, but also means I have to empty any boxes immediately or they'll be shredded. (Jackson can punch through double-walled corrugated in one pass. It doesn't take him long at all to work a box over but good!)
i have a ginger and white domestic, and she does the exact same thing, just chews up everything, you say 'no honey' and she sits there for another few minutes untill you look away an chews on more stuff.
One of my two bengals has a thing against cardboard as well. I see the destruction she can do in one bite and it makes me glad she has great bite inhibition when playing!
No, after seeing this video, I think I want two.
