Beeman 1040 and Crossman Phantom

Ive taken much small game of varying sizes on my farm in Canada using a Beeman 1040. With proper a proper scope (I'm using a Centre-Point 4x) it has great power for squirrels, pigeons, starlings, crows and even rabbits at about 25-35 ft. The trick and treasure of this gun is being able to get that close for a shot - which for me is best achieved using a home-made blind and some cheap feed corn. A heart/lung shot on one these animals are instant kills at that range, any further - I want proof.

heres a trick. If you have a low velocity air rifle, all u have to do is lube it with motor oil and youll easy add a good 150-200 fps. Ive only done it with spring action, not pneumatic

Beemans are adult airguns. The Phantom is good, but the sights suck ass. It's made of cheap plastic, and my freind had to fix his with Krazy glue. But it had a nice feel to it. But it was pretty heavy for an airgun...

Beeman makes good, durable guns, you just have to know what your doing and what your buying...

there are two models, its just a diferent barel.out of the box the phantom 22 puts out 430 fps average with crossman pointed pellets, after a simple lube tune and break in period it will average 712 with pointed and 730 with lazers.this just a lube tune.put in a quest piston spring and apex seal and it will shoot near 900fps.some guys or doing extensive mods and getting 1160 fps.

i live in england and the legal limit for an air rifle without a fire arms certificate is 12 ft lbs. this makes a .177 pellet fly at about 800 fps so if you are saying that your beeman shoots it at 450 then it is no better than a bb gun

it's not the spring but the piston, the 500 piston is longer allowing less air to compress you can mod it yourself or order it for 15$ on scopesandammo, change the spring too for an ox spring and get even more...sooo much you can do to this rifle.
