As it's probably been said, the most disturbing thing about the entire Cordyceps concept is that the colony of ants has the intelligence to recognize the infected worker and then quarantine it.

That's what gets me, honestly. Yeah, it's disturbing that an ant will behave according to the will of the fungal spores in its body...but the colony having the insight to remove the diseased ant is downright terrifying to me.

@DonSelwashington Sure, basically what happened is that the fungi, Cordyceps, invaded the ant and taking control of the central nervous system. This appears to be a painful process to the ant, due to the way the ant acts. Then the fungi forces the ant upward, so the spores can infect the whole colony. The ant will die after the fungi is done with the body. A long "tube" grows out of the corpse and releases the spores. It is simmilar to the way "The Flood" from "Halo" works.
