  • Looooooooove EWF, and I don't care What it's called, bring it on! :-)))

  • if you havent heard of charles stepney and are a fan of ewf then you should look him up this song was dedicated to him. but he died of a heart attack before it was released

  • @mjjcng8958

Also "Spirit" A spiritual tribute to Charles Stepney by Larry Dunn and Philip Bailey.

  • Gracias Dios por haber vivido en los años de esta gran banda llamada Earth, Wind and Fire.

  • I think this is my favorite rendition of of my all time favorite song. Verdine is kicking it on this song! My all time favorite band keeps on amazing me. Thanks EWF!

  • This is one of best FUNK I heard

    - have fun -

  • This is MUSICIANSHIP.

Thumbs up if you miss that in this day and age.

  • @sCENTEDFLOWERS

Now U know why the music industry put the kibash in this REAL MUSIC.

  • they are spiritual listen to the lyrics, instead of just hearing them?

  • This is funk!!! you mother funkers!!!! :P

  • There is nor will never ever be another band like this one!! pure voices of gold, sweet sounds for our ears.

  • yeah they only had one disco song "boogie wonderland" they more funk/r&b/soul/rock/jazz/blues/classical/techno/gospel whatever genre yall wanna call all that

  • @crybrght Yes! that "funk/r&b/soul/rock/jazz/blues/classical/techno/gospel" genre that you are referring to is my favorite to listen to and to play! I'm 22 and I love this stuff. I hate that junk that they have out there today. It's fun to dance to and be loud in the car every once in awhile but when I'm jammin out to EWF in the car with the windows down in a college town, I get strange looks but I love it!

  • @crybrght no, dude. ewf had more disco songs. especially in the albums i am and faces. can't let go, stars, pride, win or lose, share your love, sparkle. from electric universe disco songs are, spirit of a new world, electric nation.

  • @askadetra Are you just trying to annoy people on this page? Now, you know those songs are not disco. Besides, why categorize it anyway? Music & EWF in particular are universal. There are deeper things going on here. You should really check it out, as you are extremely uninformed. No offense

  • @WatleyConceptsInc1 shut up piece of shit. ewf songs are disco, some are funk, some are soul, some are synthpop. ewf is the greatest disco and funk band and there's no space for you here. the uninformed is you. when you don't know, don't talk.

  • Lol.

  • Anyway, "shut up piece of shit" proves nothing but your level of maturity - Lol. Now, EWF is not a disco band, period. The classification of music by genre is silly and meaningless. Arbitrary categories such as R&B, Rock, Disco, Synth Pop and Country are fostered by schools, perpetuated by fools creates havoc in the business of arts and tends to oppress artists. Even legitimate distinctions such as opera serve only a limited purpose. I hope you were able to comprehend this information today.

  • the best soul and disco group ever. a gift from god

  • I miss this music

  • Love EWF, especially in the early 70s before they became mainstream pop/disco material. I still groove to the live "Gratitude" album and give it top marks. Better than all the computerized crap on MTV these days

  • This would get a quadriplegic up outta bed.

  • My favorite band of all time. They play such a variety and play it all better than anybody else. top shelf classy guys too. God bless them all for providing us with the best music ever. Love them.

  • Whoooo Andy!

  • earth wind and fire is one of the baddest bands ever they know how make the people groove

  • the best funk band ever!

  • @amidamaru646 - Andrew Wolfolk is playing Clarinet. He is also a fantastic Sax player (and he plays drums too).

  • @PrescienceProduction That's not a clarinet!! It's a soprano saxophone!!

  • @rdifazio Amen. Tell it.... Clarinet my ass

  • I can say with conviction, EWF is the best group of all time(Bar None)! And for all those who are conflicted about the editing, outfits, playback ect.. WHO CARES! I love the concert ambiance and flow! I have seen them 7 times live in concert, the first being in 1975 in Las Vegas. Also in Frankfurt,Germany in 1990 the (Touch The World Tour). Their music and shows will always stand out! God bless Maurice White and God bless EWF and all who love them.

  • @CaptainT43 - Well said!

  • WTF? Verdine's position on the bass isn't matching up with what he's playing. Are they using pre-recorded music during a live concert or is this a music video???

  • @ocean4315 MAYBE with some songs...They sang live...others, they may have "lip synced"{had pre recorded music} to save voices, etc...But, thats just a guess...

  • Urkel obviously is 2 young to know that ppl can really play instruments. lol No buttons pushed to make that music. But on another note, Verdine White has got 2 b one of the ugliest ppl in music. He doesn't have 2 make it worse by makin those faces. But he's been doing it 4 30 odd years and is still doing it. lol

  • This is so obviously mimed, but it's still awesome.

  • @SteveUrkeI - EWF do not mime their concerts. You get 2 hours of everyone singing, dancing and playing the roof off.

  • How I wish I could invent a time machine and go back in time to see this concert live!!!!!!!

  • give your ♥ to Andrew Woolfolk ! :)

  • This song is too AWESOME!! Verdine White can dance on bass PERFECTLY!!

  • do ya'll hear VERDINE! One of the best bass player dat ever did it. Anybody wanna BET.

  • Andrew did the solos on Africano from the "That's the way of the world" album, Sun Goddess from the "Gratitude" album, Zanzibar from "Head to the Sky", Spasmodic Movements on "Open our Eyes" , Biyo from "Spirit" & many others. But, Don's were the ones that ended up being the most memorable - to the average EWF supporter. Peace.

  • Again in this video Maurice has on white pants then they turn gold, the editors just didn't do a good job on mixing the 2 concerts into one.

  • @1980Triumph I don't think its two live concerts. I think when we see Maurice with gold pants, its taken from the actual concert. I think the white pants are from a "staged" video taping, and not in from of a live audience.

  • @hankaaron1961

That is an interesting take, I tell you what that idea is even worse than mixing two concerts. At this point EWF was too much into their image to release a true live concert. Even the live 1980 in Rio cd is remixed with different shows and with added instruments...the females who sang on the 1980 tour were not at the rio show yet you here their voice on different songs.

  • @1980Triumph There may have been two tours in Rio in 1980. One to support the "I AM" tour, and a second for "Faces". The Live in Rio concert footage must be from the latter tour, since EWF performs "Let Me Talk". The Live in Rio CD must be from the "I AM" tour, which featured the 3 girls for backup.

  • @hankaaron1961

That is possible, but Runnin, Brazilian Rhyme, and Can't Let Go were taken from the Rio concerts without the females. On a forum one guy said he was at the Rio concerts and Magic mind was not performed. I think it was a combination of various concerts and that maybe EWF didn't take the females abroad.

  • @hankaaron1961

In the performance of That's the way...it shows Maurice in the white pants in front of a live crowd

  • @1980Triumph Yes you are right!. It looks like two different concert nights. It also looks like the director used one night for long shots and another night for tight close ups. All of the closeups (where you can tell the camera is close to the stage) Maurice wears the white pants. The long shots, all seem to have him wearing white pants.

BTW, I really love those long shots of the stage. EWF's presentation is so wide that you almost need Cinerama to appreciate it.

  • @hankaaron1961

It still sucks, I mean seriously, whever they make a concert video, you are supposed to wear the same clothes both nights so when they splice the video no one knows. the stage is massive, it is always nice to see the whole setup.

  • @1980Triumph These are not 2 different shows!!! The band would take breaks, probably edited for this DVD. That's when there would a change of clothing. I've seen enough of their shows to know this....

  • @salvooch4

These are two different shows, at multiple times during the EXACT SAME SONG, Maurce would be wearing different outfits. Watch the intro to the 1981 concert, Maurice switches between an all white outfit and the gold outfit before they sing Let your feelings show, also on one song both Fred and Ralph are playing the drums...poor editing

  • Andrew Wolfolk a badddd mannn

  • the brothers at work...man that was the badest video I have seen so far on youtube! I have been a fan for 30 plus years and didn't get a chance to see them live but thanks to techies we get to relive EWF best moments on stage! Everybody loves these guys and as always they are right on time. What a band! and the other comments are right... you can't put them into a class because they are the masters at mixing and getting it to come out perfect. Let's thank them for their great work!

  • That BASSMAN is a dream for a BAND. The ROOT

  • I don't mean to sound mean but if another clueless person calls EWF a disco band I will scream. Please stop classifying all black music in the 70's as disco. Just because you could dance to it didn't make it disco. It also does a great disservice to excellent musicians such as EWF who were multidimensional and multicultural with their music.

  • You're right. I used to think of them as a funk band in the 70s, but now I think they even transcend that genre. I mean, how do you classify New World Symphony?

  • I just love New World Symphony CJP!! You have great taste! Verdine's bass line is outstanding in that song. It really shows his craftsmanship.

  • they was funky

  • AMEN!!!!

  • Too Right! EWF was soul baby!!

  • @Scentedflowers they did do disco. It's silly to call them a disco band...but i would rather people listen to them and call them a disco band than not hear the truth of maurice & the gang...

  • @PracticeMakesAwesome

Yes but disco was such a minor part of their music.......Yet I agree with you better to listen than not listen........however, if one is only listening to the few disco hits of EWF, then your are missing out on some awesome music that is truly the essence of EWF....

  • EW&F was one of the first bands to really do those extended jam sessions on stage.

  • Pure Magic

  • thanks Maurice.

  • priase you all :)

    God bless you !

thank you for all the wonderful years !

  • OHHH Andeeeah!

  • As a long time fan of this great band, Id like to offer up my Gratitude: To Maurice for holding the group together for so many years and his ability to conduct so many great songs, songs that are so filled with love, hope, and inspiration; to Charles Stepney for being there through the mid 70s, offering guidance, leadership, and direction; and to Andrew Woolfolk, Johnny Graham, and Verdine White who always played with such a great passion and attitude Keep the Spirit and may God Bless.

  • EWF is NO disco !!! It's one of the earliest jazz-funk bands of their time

  • Study Earth, Wind & Fire AND music in general a lot more - for your own good. I'm telling you this to help you.

  • Earth wind & Fire: Actually, I wanna thank you! Give you gratitude!
