whatever makes you feel better about yourself junior, ive trained JKD and MMA for the last 8 years and martial arts in general for the last 20. My JKD is under Guro Dan and his instructor Patrick Tray(US Navy Seal) My Thai boxing is under Ajarn Chai(personal freind of Guro Dan) Ive studied with people youve only read about NOOB.
you dont know shit obviously if you havnt heard of Paul Vunak. Paul Vunak is one of Guro Dan's top instructors, world renowned street combat instructor and trainer of Navy seal team 6. And every academy has different ways of keeping track of progression, some use sashes, some shirts, some patches, some belts. Ive trained directly under Guro Dan and his instructors and the academies ive trained with all have some sort of colored progression system.
Paul trains with Dan all the time dumb ass if you dont know who paul vunak is you must live under a rock or really have no clue who the well known intructors are.
why would you ever want to go to the ground if you are on your feet? you never know how good your opponent is and you also added way to many possiblities to the fight. Leaving a fight is a good thing why risk being seriously hurt or killed. On the street there is no ref
You have to understand certain situations. If you're an officer and you have taken down a suspect, you cannot kill him because you need info. It might be best to take him down. Remember these are only flow drills. A real fight is unscripted but Master Luca is showing several possibilities.
Your right i have never stepped onto a Dojo floor cause i don't take Japaneese arts. I've been doing Jkd under the intructor Makoto Kabayama of Paul Vunak progressive fighting system for 8yrs and never once had heard mention of belts so stop bullshitting and face the fact you where caught in a lie.
Just like the italians to take something simple and make it complex and ridiculously extravagant.

If you are standing over your opponent, is it wise to go down to the ground with him or is leaving the scene a much better choice?

You have a purple belt in JKD hmmm how weird considering there are no belts.

The only thing belts are good for are holding your pants up.
