OMG... It was the year 1988 or 1989.. I was 4 years old and I would watch Rex Smith ride the bike.. I would wake up early in the morning every Sunday to watch him on the Indian National TV.. Wishing I could ride HIM! No kidding!
Oh my god this intro is total cheese it's so utterly 80's tastic! ...to riiiiiiide streethawk hahaha. I liked the way he used to corner the bike at 300 miles an hour, thats some tyres he had there :P
Watched this in India when I was growning up. Now, I'm in British Columbia, Canada... and I still love it more than ever!!! This beats the shit out of Knight Rider!!!
I'm a bit worried about the voice over artist at the end of the credits... he seems to be enjoying the script too much... in a creepy way. The maaan... the machine... Street Huuark! Does he have some kind of weird fetish? ;)
T.V. shows these days just lack a catchy theme song. Back then t.v. shows took pride on having a catchy theme song. Loved this show and majority of other shows of the time. Agree?
I remember being a kid, taking my bicycle and believing I was riding that motorcyle and actually humming that song. I watched this show back in my country, pretty awesome
It'd be something else to see if there could have been a team up with Street Hawk, Airwolf, Knightrider, and the A-Team....or would that be overkill and unwatchable?
How cool was this? I had a Street Hawk outfir for BMX bike as a kid, Fooking love it, Along with Airwolf, Knightrider & the A-Team when tv programmes were fucking schweet!
I hate cars . Some countries a necessary evil . In time though they will get more fuel efficient and in real developed countries (not by rep and on paper) will get cleaner .Motorbikes , are fine for competition and fighting crime as in street hawk . My favorite transport is helicopters and planes
When I was a kid I used to pretend my dirt bike was street Hawk and go around solving problems that didn't exist oh the imagination ammo the 80's used to give sigh ....
@tai7118 Its funny that you say that about imagining your dirt bike as streethawk. I did a similar thing with my BMX. I sprayed it black, bought some small fireworks and set them up on the front of the bike, stuck a couple of ice lolly sticks between the spokes of the bike to get a great sound when I pedalled. Used to go around pulling wheelies and firing off a couple of missiles ie my fireworks. How simple life was then
I like how after the theme song, the voiceover guy starts breaking it down for you in case you've never seen the show before.
Take notes, thousands of modern-day network running people... talking to you... this was the era of hit show after hit show. Guy (plus other dudes, and a chick somewhere doing something while being hot while not acting like she knows she's hot) plus awesome show trademark gadget-loaded vehicle. Sit back and enjoy your success.
@Rikkisteve Rikkistevewhat happened is what always happens in hollywood, the producers of that time either made so much money that they retired or left the business for whatever reasons or unfortunately passed away so whats left are the younguns who come in to take over, they want the money as quiick as possible and they dont want to spend the kindof money to produce these typs of shows. We;ve degenerated to such a point that people are tuning in to watch a woman eat herself to death.
@Rikkisteve still some good stuff , coach .we had x files , unit , scrups west wing , agency , alias , desperate housechicks and ally mcbeal , nypd blue , law and order since this
If I had the money I would do a kick ass remake of this show with a Suzuki Hayabusa. I'd keep it real though for the times, no lasers or any of that shit, just machine guns, grenade launchers, oil slicks, some small guided missles, kinda James Bond but not over the top. But a Hayabusa with some turbo probably could do 300mph. Hell maybe even through in a ripoff of KITTs CPU. This show deserves a remake, it never got the chance it deserved back then.
@dotdotdash2 AMEN dotdotdash2 I aggree just because you have the rights/permission to update something whether it is a book, or TV show etc etc remember what the original owner wanted.
Anyone remember a show like this, but where the bike was more futuristic and streamlined and had lasers? the voiceover began "It is the year 2020..." I can't remember the name of it but I know I saw it around 1990!
@sidewaysdanny@luvaboy772 Thanks, that's it! Unfortunately it's almost non-existant on youtube - the intro I remember isn't even there. Looks like it was never released on DVD or even VHS except for the pilot.
Does anyone remember the name of the show, where there was this black dude dressed in a some sort of robot costume?? and the genre was maybe sci-fi-action... I was really small, but I remember watching it. :)
@katinijasn : ...can't BELIEVE peeps have left u hangin' on this one, dude!
I gots one of two answers for ya...
...if it's a SHOW, then ur probably thinking M.A.N.T.I.S. starring Carl Lumbly (a most unfortunate surname for a fine man and actor -- his recent turn in Chuck as Casey's rogue sensei was BOSS!!!), and I luv'd that show too!
...but if it's a straight-to-DVD-bargain-bin MOVIE, then ur probably recalling Shaq O'Neal's "Steel", in which case I feel ur pain -- :'-( !!!
Then him and his buddy spent time in front of the screen analysing with the expression on their faces saying: 'Hey did we planned this? I dont think we did' :P
@chapmasi Very true. Things were great back then. Street Hawk was one of my favourites back then. The Sweeney, Airwolf, The Equalizer, Robin of Sherwood, The Professionals, Magnum PI, Dempsey & Makepeace, The Goonies, Hawk the Slayer, BMX, Fraggle Rock, Dukes of Hazzard, tape-chewing Betamax and VHS, TV-AM etc etc. Great music and original films. For a kid in the 80's, things were pretty sweet. Today, times are pretty shite.
@Fenner1976 Well technically everyone considers what we have now as "better" but its all CGI reality TV, RnB (which i hate with a passion) and PC bullshit....
Kids today have nothing to stir their imaginations, its all provided in big lumps for them
@chapmasi Also very true. Agreed. A lot of today's films & TV series, although very clever and impressive in their production and visuals, tend to rely way too much on CGI effects to sell the product, often at the expense of good storylines. There's no true originality in a lot of today's programming. It's all dumbed-down PC toss and too much of the same thing. TV talent & reality shows are a living hell. The licence-fee isn't worth paying, whereas it was back then. Sad times really?
i used to really like this. Knightrider, Transformers, Mask, A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPs too... the 80s were a Mecca for men and their Superherovehicles
that was pretty much the saturation point for cars that talk, choppers that blow shit up, magnum pi's moustache and the top secret street hawk motorcycle.
TV back then when I was a kid was awesome. Today's TV makers should stop making reality rubbish and go back to thing like this that were entertaining. The 80's could teach them a thing or two!
i thought i was street hawk when i was 8 up and down the street on my bike which even had the electric noise button control pad on the front ha what a childhood i had.
@carnage2681 Airwolf was better than Blue Thunder. But if I was a CGI computer animator or Japanese anime cartoonist, I'd do a triple cameo of these 3 machines together. Why not?
The XL500 was the main bike, but for stunts they used CR250's, they used 15 bikes total, the 15th now resides in the Cars of the Stars MuseumStreet Hawk, In Keswick,Cambria UK
See when you think about it, we were really spoild in the 80s for action shows, this, the a team, airwolf, blue thunder, automan, chips. The list goes on, and look at what is on now? More channels = more rubbish tv. And on top of that, most of the time we were out playing and only came in to watch the shows and went back out afterwards to be the caracters. My and my mate used to be CHiPs. Pity we grew up
Why don't the cops have tec like that by now? Maybe they just cant find anyone with the nuts to fight crime on a machine like that. It'd take a near Superman godammit!!
this shit was the shiznik, it was underrated...reminded me of airwolf but on a bike

Damn, If I'm not mistaken, this show first aired on Jan 24th or 27th 1984, when I was 9.
What's wrong with me?

See when you think about it, we were really spoild in the 80s for action shows, this, the a team, airwolf, blue thunder, automan, chips. The list goes on, and look at what is on now? More channels = more rubbish tv. And on top of that, most of the time we were out playing and only came in to watch the shows and went back out afterwards to be the caracters. My and my mate used to be CHiPs. Pity we grew up
