  • We need a 10 year ban on all fishing to let stocks grow i mean all over, People are greedy if you doubled the amount they were allowed to catch then they would catch it because greed overtakes them. Fish stocks can regenerate if we want them too. It all boils down to greed and thats the truth of it.

  • that's ridiculous.

  • Why is it?.

  • damn the atmosphere not the same with that australian voice talking aboot the fishing.

  • you dock the dock? i dock the had...haddock! ;P

  • i ve got the had , have you got the dock ? had-dock :P

  • thats my mum carol on here and i would like to say that herself and morag has done a lot 4 the comunity. with no help and no backing. well done you 2x

  • dont know enough about the science but looks like there has to be no go areas to allow the fish to breed. Bigger faster boats technology etc etc have all played there part the fish have little chance to recover. Market forces need to come into play i.e. pay a fisherman the true worth for one fish, fish & chips £10quid

  • good old broch few peeps i know in this vid recognise a few boatys too

  • I used to work in bonnie Scotland in Peterhead as a filleter, good down to earth folk, great sense of humor and tough as hell.I miss those days

  • aye not now adays mate place is full of junkies and arseholes now

  • If people could actually own the cod, then this would not be a big deal. A community resource will almost always be entirely depleted. Ownership of the fish will save both the fish and the fishermen. Just as no farmer goes out and shoots all of his cows. So too if people owned these cod they would take better care of them.

  • you gotta stop catching the fish.. no ifs and or buts about it.... i live in ny and can tell you that cod used to be a non-existent fishery just a few years ago but this winter cod are being caught by commercial and recreational fishermen again. The scot's cod fishery should bounce back in a few years. just have to be patient.

  • being from ny you clearly know fuckall aboot it so why dont you stop the suggestions?

  • Long Island is one of the most famous and heavily fished fisheries in the US that includes a world metropolitan city. Good fishery management has resulted in people being to catch 35 inch striped bass from Wall street. Not to mention depletion of Atlantic cod fishery is probably one of the most studied and documented depletions.

  • I, for one, saw what happens when the fish leaves a port. The village slowly witter and dies, like the one on the Atlantic coast of Gaspé if it wasn't for crabes there would be no fisheries. Essentially they become a burden for the rest of the country; I wonder what the rest of the Scotland is doing to avoid all that.
