Segovia was a great musician. So is Julian Bream. Saying one is greater than the other just shows arrogance on the part of the person making a choice. There is no objective way to prove that one is greater than the other. It all boils down to personal preference.

don't hold it against them, they don't know what talent is. segovia was the best. end of story.there are people around that learned under him, and are considered among the best today. but they can't touch his passion and understanding. the student will never be greater than the master. and let me tell you something, you can be the most talented player in the world, but if you don't have passion, you just rush through a piece to prove you can play, and all you do is ruin it.

Doesn't matter who you have played in front of, musical taste is about personal preferance. Segovia was a very good player, I will never be as good, but I'm not a fan. Personally I prefer David Russell. It's all about choice. People that rave about Segovia have Beatles syndrome - they are sheep for the most part. Rock on!

The Marques of Salobreña was a trickster. Of course it sucks. He was one of the worst guitarrist ever but many people still belive he is a master. He loses the rhythm in this video hundreds of times and that is not an opinion is a fact. Andrés Segovia what a fake! Thanks, dear Andrés, to turn the Spanish guitar into an insipid instrument more alike to an arp that an actual guitar. Thanks a lot for that legions of idiots that folow you blindly! They will never play better than a zombie...

if you had the faith and the true love MASTER SEGOVIA had,then you could understand how much he has offered to all of the guitarists worldwide.its your problem if you thing that segovia was just a guitarist.he risked many things while exploring the foreign paths of guitar.he was a teacher,and guitarist must be called everyone that understands his interpretation.i only wish you to be cures from your "zombitis".most of the best guitarists in the world had segovia as a teacher.

Such disrespect, I don't really think you have right to say anything to Segovia, in this video he is probably 85+ if you can play as well, or play at all at this age hats off, he wasn't a performer per say he was Paco De Lucia of classical guitar, meaning he started a trend, you have no right to bash him like that, just show little respect, at his time even bulerias was so simple, 12-3-6-8-10 or 12-3-7-8-10 wasn't played the way it's played now.
