@benutzer29915022 We finnish folk often refer to our music as melancholic. I think that's a great way to put it. Finnish melancholy is one of a kind. Sad, depressed but beautiful. I'm not just saying that because I live here.

Though it does help me understand and "sense" almost immediately when it's my countrymen behind a song I hear on the radio, for example, even though on the surface it could sound like any other english-singing band.

From what I understood it's about children growing up in hostile and oppressive environment, becoming monsters and then teaching their children in the same way. The singers look scary because they portray these monsters. In the end, the vocalist frees the innocent child from her chain, meaning he doesn't want her to continue the vicious cycle.
