you better put resistors on those led's.... I did this a long time ago on my system when i was a kid and one LED exploded and flew across the room. Hope your guests wear safety glasses when they come over lol. Adds a nice visual effect no doubt but put some resistors on them to play it safe.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER connect anything other than speakers to your amp. That is the WORST thing you could possibly do. An amp expects a resistive load. When you put diodes (Light Emitting Diodes) across the outputs, you're asking for trouble. Not only can the LEDs burn up but they can also short out the amps outputs!!!! This is the RIGHT way - watch?v=uOw_Ynx1tGc
I was going to do this with the speakers in my car but I want to know that it's safe I want to light the whole inside of the car so there will probably be a lot of different LEDs so is it safe to do this in a car with many LEDs ?

Just wondering how i could go about adding a third party power source to the speakers in order for them to not risk being fried or for the lights brightness to not rely on the speakers power while still detecting the sound and lighting up to the bass of the song.
I did the same thing but with 12v 24cm car LEDs and their way better because they are bigger and produce a lot more light. I got the lights of ebay for 99 cents a peice. Go to my videos if u want to see it.
this is really cool. a note for those wanting to do this. This will not work on every speaker set up. You need to have a amplified audio, otherwise you have to turn the volume very very loud.
@aaronkoester well if their directly connected with no resistor or voltage regulator, if u were to turn up the volume a little higher u wud kill ur LED's
How do i use a resistor cus i wanna do this to

@hunterwr69 well i did that to my car with 10 mm LEDs with switch so i can turn them off.I installed like 5 LEDs on every speaker in my car.
its safe if you ask me.From outside it looks awesome but do not turn them on while driving.I was stopped by police...but still..it was awesome

well i tryed this with just the buld so it must have a resistor in there

isnt there a resistor on there?...are they purely powered by the speaker?
100roberthenry 1 year ago
No resistor! They are truly powered by the speakers.

@aaronkoester how many watts are your speakers an amp?...

@popperchase some more powerful amps like mine wud kill the leds at higher volume

@aaronkoester bt wat if ur speaker doenst have red and black insted it has a jack
kingomar93 3 months ago
@100roberthenry Speakers require very little voltage or current when it comes to this type of set up.
