i planted a standard bing and a standard black tartarian about 5 or 6 years ago. I wasnt well informed about pruning. Now I have two big cherry trees with plenty of big leaves but no cherries. i want to start pruning but I have been warned not to if they are two old. What would you recomend? Thanks! This video is great and Im gonna go ahead and prune my younger cherries.

Is it OK to taKe of all of this years growth?

I pruned a a pear tree too much one time(about 6 inches from the main trunk) and it killed it

I have twelve old fruit trees (8 apple, 1 cherry, 1 pear, and 2 plum). Moved in last summer. Did nothing to the trees. Harvested great fruit from almost all. Decided to prune this year. I'd like to prune them way back and sacrifice a year of fruit, but I've never pruned before today. (did a fair job, I think, on one little one). Should I be conservative on my pruning so as not to ruin the trees? They haven't had much love. Wonderful old varieties. Pruning is addictive.
