I don't know if it was this exact scene, but last month, on Ellen Degeneres talk show, they showed Julianne Moore a clip of a scene around this time from Frannie/Sabrina, and both she and Ellen treated it as something to be embarrassed about. I'm not sure why, because, yes, the story is ridiculous, but the writing is solid and the work from Julianne is very layered. I guess even now, it's easier for people to see soaps as absurd instead of going more into the good and bad of them.
I can't wait for Julianne Moore's return to TURNS next month!
