I remember this playing last night for me. I fought Sten's friend on a falling bridge. Brought me memories of Final Fantasy VI's fall toward the Floating Continent. I really wish they made this the main boss theme and "I'll do it!" for this one. The latter is far too short.

It's basically always used when you fight important storyline characters or important storyline effecting bosses: aka Katt, Tiga, Ray, your dad, Trubo, Guardian, Deatheven I think Barubary solo but don't hold me on that, maybe another fight.

III was good imo, it got me started on this series. Liked all the gene combinations, and the anime-styling was a novelty to me at the time. Haven't played past it, but I don't think I'd like IV or V as much. I have to say the music in this game is bloody fantastic. Doesn't have to be complex to be awesome, and I've listened to a lot of game music. 1 and 3 don't compare IMO but this game is up there with greats like Star Ocean 2 and some of the FF's score-wise for me.

It's first used when fighting Katt though. But yes, it becomes more common-place later. Hell, it's even used in the battle against Deathevn when you need to use Afini (In other words, the one where you can't win unless you use Afini).

Ah, nice work... thanks for the list. Yeah this song is used in a lot of great battles. I'm surprised it's not used when you fight Barubary, but the song they use there is pretty good too.
