It's actually a poor comparison. Speaking as an 'xbot' (is that what they're calling us now) most consoles have exclusive games of truly excellent quality (The types that start a franchise, not sequels)

The xbox360 has the largest number of these, mainly because it's been out for longer and is more attractive to developers (Microsoft outright purchasing exclusive game licensing rights might also be another factor)

No it didnt, those games all paled in comparison to the PlayStation and the proof was in the fact that the N64 was being trounced in sales. Mario Party was a fucking terrible game and so was Turok, both of them were in no way "must-own" N64 titles, nearly all the must-owns were made by Rare. Again, the PS1 trounced the N64 not only in sales but also in game content. Quite simply it had more shooters, more racers, more RPGs, more fighting games and space-conquest games than any other system at the time. I'm just looking at the facts here: did N64 have Metal Gear Solid? No. Wipeout? No. Gran Turismo? No. Final Fantasies 7, 8, and 9? No. Tekken series? No. Street Fighter series?
