I get this when the box is connected to an external drive through eSATA and is recording to two HD shows while I'm watching a third. It seems like it just can't transfer that much data at once while reading from and writing to the external drive.

Have you cable provider come to your house and check the signal wire going in to your house. I have the same DVR from Time Warner Cable.

Might not be the box. Could be weak signal to the box. That's the problem I had.

I got the first SA 8300HD box on 11/22/08, I am now on my THIRD box. I have had nothing but problems with this box. I hate it.
