  • I go 90% raw and 9% cooked fish and 1% for holiday meals like thanksgiving etc.

  • banana peel- good for verrucas an feeding roses.

  • If I may correct you on one thing Kevin, you were talking about the China study and it seemed like you were under the impression that the china study has a lot to do with oriental health. This piece of scientific research is called the china study because the doctor (I can't remember his name) who decided he wanted to perform studies on raw food diets for patients with chronic and life threatening diseases was rejected any opportunity to do so in the states. China was the one place he could go

  • @spruntfemalespray that's a very conservative and closed-minded view on diet. the foods you listed were all that was AVAILABLE, it was not out of choice and the quality of life spending hours foraging for little berries or taking nasty cow lactations was very very low. we now have the ability to grow and transport food so that we can get the nutrition and satisfaction we desire from vegan foods. haha have fun eating your weeds & raw egg yolks :) i'll go eat some delicious fruit and salad

  • I went raw for 7 months, wound up in a hospital bed with a glucose level of zero. They said i should have been in a coma.

  • @lilwolfblackfoot did you get enough calories? honestly, most people going raw end up undereating or living off fat and grass.

  • i tryd it

  • how can u tell what is GMO and what is regular goods , when u cant get organic?

  • i'm not a raw foodist, but i applaud those who are.

  • I'd do 100% raw, uh, to a point. OK, save for herbal teas...but i guess even those needn't be raised to temps that knock off (kill) the microbes. But the problem I have is being polite when socializing. Staying warm by eating warming foods is not necessary I feel cuz we can eat somewhere betw 105 & 112 degrees & that's amply above 98.6 to be warming. Then raw seems natural cuz every being without opposable thumbs does it successfully. We just need to rehab our digestive systems

  • Thank you for your honesty. I have noticed that when I eat too much cooked food in a day I get quite emotional and erratic. So a little bit here and there seems okay for me. It is all personal, you need to be aware of your body as to how food affects you.

  • This is a good video. There is too much evanglicalism and fanaticism in the raw food world of needing to be 110%. I like your guidance to do what works.

  • i started the raw food diet 3 yrs ago because i was having severe stomach problems that were going undiagnosed. i was also getting uncontrolable fever blisters which was quite embarassing. So i did a lot of research on the blood ph and i switched to this 100%. unfortunately i lost too much weight and was sick looking so i went back to pescetarian. recently the stomach problems came back so im going to be smart about it this time and do 85% raw and make sure to eat enough fat & cals.

  • Would you give us an outline of your menus? a kind of diet outline for beginners........I get the green smoothie b'fast, but being allergic to nuts, I wonder how to modify.....fortunately having dairy intolerances, wheat sensitivities, vegan/partailly raw doesn't look too tricky. What do you eat cooked?Love your enthusiasm, inspirational!!!!

  • haha not at all! my shits are SOFT and SMOOTH! and most of all GREEN 75% of the time, sometimes they're brown though, i don't get rly hard butthole ripping shits anymore, it's crazy, but if my shits are big enough sometimes i still have tears coming out my eyes in the morning shits

  • You cant smoke the peel but you can smoke banana Leaf :) My friend did..

  • 100% awesomeness lol...love it!

  • I like to eat my heaviest non-raw meal for lunch. So the salad would be for dinner.

  • lol, it's easier to take shits sir,

  • For real?

  • yea dude fiber helps shit pass out quicker, digestion is much improved, so some people say you should have a shit for every meal you eat, i shit like 2-3 times a day, but i eat like 4-5 so i dno, my shits are green

  • eating a lot of raw food means you have lots of simple, easily digestible soluble fiber .... which is softer, and easier for the GIT to seperate.

How much fecal matter you produce depends on how much you eat, not how frequently.

@darkdragon ... eat lots of fruit, lots of fiber, good nutrition, good "regularity", easy to pass fecal matter

Meat and diary clog up the system, making gas and poor digestion

  • i m jst starting the day with my bowl of porridge oats/not cooked and yogurt. is that raw food?? thx

to me 100% raw seems over the top, especially writing from a cold climate, where its nice to warmup with a hot (vegetable) soup in winter.

  • I think it is fine to have hot soups. I think you have to listen to your body instead of following what others are doing :) I know an old man and his family is 75% raw and loving it, BUT I want to someday be 100% and started yesterday cuz I read about a woman who has gone back and forth and is now 100% because the cooked and baked were bad for her, she realised after a 40 hour birth. when she was raw it took 38 minutes with her first and last (4 kids in all)

  • you are just a ball full of energy arent you? i dont know whether that's really you or the raw food? lol

  • Thanks for this video, love going back and watching your older vids!! Great FUN

I didn't realise your raw food %...I missed it though it doesn't matter. You're So right about being really inwardly centred on 100% raw, it really is a brilliant lifestyle and amazing for your health as I feel awesome and I've released 104lbs in 9months but Ive just got on the B12.

Love your videos. Love 2U both Blessings xxx

  • "Not eating enough calories"? Look up caloric restriction. It works for laboratory rats. Heard it's good for us too, & feel it is good for me for sure too. Recall Christmas dinners past & the morbid feeling afterwards, merely from the quantity, quality aside. Sure maybe if you're an athlete or embarking on a long trek. But best to temper, guage the amount per activity level.

  • i am like u, i eat about 90% raw. i steam some vegetables, and that accounts for the 10% cooked. some veggies i feel can't be eaten raw, they must be at least slightly steamed.

wheatgrass juice is big with me. manually juiced not blended. no blending.

i love your videos Kevin, they are great. you know a lot and are very effective. keep up the great work and thanx for the info. by the way, i highly recommend "sick + tired" by Dr. Young. peace.

  • I just started a mostly raw diet yesterday. Just trying it out for a while to see how it feels. The only thing that worries me is getting enough b12, as someone in my family was temporarily paralyzed from b12 deficiency, but I used to eat plenty of meat and eggs so hopefully the b12 from those will last me.

  • I actually just started...yesterday. I'm not going to be 100% raw though. I still want beans & brown rice. From scratch of course because i don't want any preservatives & sodium. I also have green fresh juices in morning. I was also wondering. i was thinking of getting a dehydrator but exactly how often do people use those on the raw food diet cuz i don't want to buy something if it's not going to be used to often.

  • 100% raw for 5 days now,skin is better,fresher breath,more energy!

  • Ha ha I am 100% awesomeness. Its feels good! Try it!

  • The Georgians live incredibly long.....mostly very rich soil good vegetable based diet. They are not necessarily vegetarian (very little meat), and they also drink vodka and smoke too! Other issues. Life is low stress, air is very clean, and the longevity cultures usually have a rich mineral source of water.

  • I'd love to try the raw diet, but in rural frigid areas where really fresh, high quality produce isn't always available even if you can afford it, it seems undoable.

I'm high on raw intake during summer when my garden's procucing. In winter I do some sprouting, but a lot of my food is canned or frozen. I don't find dehydration suitable for much produce besides tomatoes...I've found dehydrading cookbooks very disappointing.

  • I reckon the food you eat should be very rich in water. cut out the dried fruits, and have lots of greens, sprouts, grated vegies, and blended fruits and vegies. personally I eat large mono meals of fruit if i can, 3 times a day and a large simple salad at night without much fat, just olives and avocado not any oils or nuts if i can help it. don't mix fruits and nuts especially dried fruits. just what i've learned i havn't got it perfect yet.

  • i need a friend to go raw together, what about cravings, i would have horrible cravings for all sort of foods, but this idea is so attractive and iv been thinking it for soo long.. oh and thanks for the vid, inspirational sort of :) xx

  • i have been raw for 2 weeks and i am having the absolute worst time with constipation, despite drinking plenty of water. help

  • I'm totally for a raw food diet. When it comes to the arguments for and against the raw food diet blows the cooked food diet out of the water. You'll hear Ayurvedic and TCM practitioners say things raw foodists are spacey or its not grounding enough or even it's too YIN forming...

We all know everything about the benefits of raw food like more vitamins, minerals and enzymes etc. But the one or two lame excuses by other schools of thought don't really add up in this day and age.

  • Spaciness or ungrounded-ness is just a result of that individual not eating a balanced diet. They might not be getting enough protein or fat, or if they need more yang they can simply add spicier foods in there like garlic, onions etc.

The reason I see us as a species having eaten cooked foods was purely because during the last few thousand years agriculture was really dirty and we had to kill the bad bacteria in meat and on the food that grew on our crops. In this day and age we can go raw!

  • Oh, and awesome videos Kevin!

  • Any arguments against 100% raw, based on how it makes you feel, are invalid untill you have gone through detox.(Try fasting) After that, 100% is easier than 99% - Because you will have kicked your cooked-food addictions. Thus, no cravings for grains, etc. which are extremely addicting. Instead you will enjoy only endorphin-filled BLISS! (Our birthright) Thanks for helping to rid the planet of misery, disease and pollution.

  • I'm for the raw food diet. I'll be starting it soon because of the large amount of benefits it contains. I'm going to try to go 100 percent raw. I think i can do it.

  • Thank you so much for these video's. & I have to agree that cooked grains has eased my transition into a raw lifestyle... Although I try to eat mainly alkanizing grains such as Quinoa, Amaranth, and Millet, often combined. It satisfies my need for warmth without compromising my pH as much. Thanx again for the encouragment!

  • I disagree that we should be eating a very low meat diet, we need saturated fats and cholesterol, It is the foundation for every single hormone in our body. I tried the macrobiotic diet and I became emancipated.

  • Monica, you became "emancipated"?

    That was good :]

  • I mean emaciated, you know, like I looked like a skeleton, I was horribly underweight and sickly looking? Ha ha...

  • Yea, you were detoxing: its your meat diet coming back to haunt you as it leaves your body.

If you don't want to research veg*ns, please don't draw a conclusion(odds are it will be faulty)

I, like many vegans, CEASED being sickly.

  • No, actually it was that I was eating too much grain and it wasn't sprouted. I lacked protien, my nails were brittle and my hair was weak.

I have researched vegans, and you should research cholesterol, because it is a necessary substance that you can only get from animal sources, not to mention the b-vitamins.

I need my protein, and soy is not in the least a good substitute, it causes all sorts of problems. And combining grains and legumes is only useful if you sprout before hand.

  • I used to eat too much grain also. It made me bloated and tired, but not sickly and skinny.

I don't wanna pick on you but everything you're saying is faulty:

    * Carl Lewis isn't emanciated, he's "Olympian on the Century".

If Chloesterol is NESSESSARY and only found in animal products, I, and millions of others, wouldn't be alive. I think we animals MAKE chloresteral, and that's why it's in animal products.

Protein is best gotten 1st hand, not through another animal that did fine on plants

  • You can get plenty of protein from a raw vegan diet.

Just two examples of higly digestable raw plant protein is spirulina and hemp powder or hemp seeds.

  • You can get plenty of fat on a raw vegan diet. You just need to eat a balanced raw diet.

Raw nuts & seeds, avocado, coconut oil & many more raw foods have lots of good healthy fats.

  • You mean you don't eat any meat? What about dairy? ___I love this book called Nourishing Traditions____ Check it out

  • In answer to your question. I love the raw food diet. I'm almost 62 years old and began this high raw journey 70 days ago. I have much more energy, much better digestion, and am finally free of food allergy symptoms. I started this journey to treat my arthritis (wheat allergy) and my joints are getting better all the time. I'm 80-85% raw. I have almost completely lost my taste for cooked vegetables, but do eat a little meat on my salad 1-2 times a week. Thanks for all your supportive videos.

  • ... your videos just keep getting better and better guys! please keep coming them up. I have so much catching up to do.I hope all the videos stay online so I can watch them all, little by little.

I haven't got enough experience on eating a 100% raw food diet to express an opinion on if it's the best thing to do or not.

Thanks so much for your hard work. These vids are so informative. You're great. 100% awesomness!!! :)

    love, Ana.

  • One theory on the poor issue is that they pay a family of 4 $700.00 per month in food stamps, & people go nutts buying the expensive packaged junk foods and they dont work, sit on the system, & eat all day. NOT ALL PEOPLE ON WELLFARE DO THIS, but the families I know who are on it DO!! They are fat and depressed! Sorry but its true!

Anyhow, My 100 day raw challenge started today with rawfoodpower! Great info. Thank U!

  • I tried 100% raw, but I really missed grains, so I included whole grains in my diet, now I'm fine with my diet :)

  • ... very informative & something to think about ... i guess we all have to figure out what works for each of us ...

wow, you can eat banana peels? ... i never thought about it, but it makes sense ... who would try to smoke them? ... that's hilarious lol ...

    xoxo

  • That was very informative. Great episode. As for my personal raw food experience, it goes like this: I usually stay in the high 90s but most of the time 100% raw. What I observed with occasional consumption of cooked legumes or grains is that it doesn't bother me, but I feel greater comfort if I go without having any at all. I sprout all the time, so I do intake grains, seeds and legumes in that form as well. What works for you, is best for you. I definitely agree with that Kevin.

  • You're doing a great service of good info on healthy diet; my wife and I know Gabriel quite well; he changed the way we looked at our food and eating habits; thanks again for putting it all out here in virtualandia.

Saludos from John and Carmen in the Panama highlands.

  • I think the raw food diet makes the most sense of any diet I've ever heard of or read about. You're right about the importance of getting enough calories. It is important that you eat plenty and that you eat some energy dense plant foods like avocado and olives. Kevin, what other plants are high in fat/calories/energy?

  • 100% awesomeness!!
