  • Nice work. Looking into doing something like this myself. Any tips would be appreciated.

  • Not working!

  • I need a link the one in the DES re

  • i just got this assignment for my 3D design class but im still trying to figure out what to do

  • do you know where i can get more of those folding plans?? thanks

  • This is a lie! I tried it and my chair didnt work! It was so hard & took me forever!

  • Really? It's quite simple!

Try making one out of a scale-sized piece of copy paper first. Then move to cardboard.

    I'm sorry you're having difficulty!

  • @eviandsam831 You might also want to use thicker card board. It might not be working because the card board is not strong enough due to it's thickness.

  • Well done. I enjoyed your chair video.

  • Yeah pretty killer. I am currently working on a chabu-dai table ( Japanese dinner table ) done completely in cardboard, except with a modern twist. I will post a vid in about a week 1/2 with the initial concept done.

  • Wow! Way to go, that was awesome!

  • Your chair is really cool!

  • lol nice job! Get a patten and sell some online!

  • way to go hughes

  • You should make lots of those and sell them. I'd buy one just because. :D //Gayasian

  • Quite :P

  • @ObviouslyBenHughes or just o to vat19.com they have a card board chair!

  • Wow, Ben! That's pretty flippin' sweet! You gonna keep it in your (dorm/apartment/house) and actually use it?

    Take care,

    Patrick

  • I dunno, to be honest... It's kind of been sagging and crushing slooooooowly. :D

So we'll see... maybe I'll make a second one some time?

  • i wouldnt even know how to begin to think on where to start designing that lol, were you allowed to have a rough draft? lol

  • YEAH! We created at least five to ten small versions out of Bristol board (roughly two or three inches high when I finished each...)

Trust me, it all just kind of happened after I was folding stuff. It really wasn't from me being smart, I can tell you that! LOL

  • Awesome!! Really impressive how you made it without any tape or cutting.

  • Thanks Gen! <3

  • fun times

  • overwhelmingly. :D

  • Impressive work, Ben. Have you ever seen Frank Gehry's cardboard chairs? I sat in one once. It was quite comfortable. But he didn't have to make it from one folded piece.

  • I have! We had to look for inspiration from past designs of not only furniture, but uses of cardboard. Gehry was one of the ones that appeared in most student research, including mine.

Where did you get the opportunity to see and sit in Gehry's chair?

  • I'm pretty sure it was the Whitney Biennial. It was a long time ago. I don't remember if people were invited to sit in them or I just decided to do so - back then I did such things :)

  • You rebel, you.

  • I gotta say, thats pretty amazing =]

  • THANKS James! Glad you think so :)

  • Nice job, man. Really cool project.

  • THANKS! Glad you liked it :)

  • wow dude awesome chair

if you could make a how to that would be awesome
