  • We Americans live in such corruption.... Our congress corrupted with private sectors = suffering Americans with no affordable or basic coverage unless you're dirt poor... It's Americas greed that keeps us down.. We need to be the cure of the fungus that has nunerous seats in our healthcare choices.. We need a change big time " God bless the USA"

  • If the public option is dropped, then Healthcare reform is a sham. There is NO WAY to contain costs without it. Without it, reform is the Insurance Company Profit Assurance Act.

  • David Swanson looks weird, you shouldn't have him on.

  • who is that clown? i looked him up and i think he is fake!

  • thank god the progressives are taking a genuine stand on a public option. I hope they deliver

  • im cant believe some republicans are going as far as to call obama a nazi.what universe do they live in? comparing the smartest us president since ww2 to a mass murderer.some people really are stupid and theres no hope for them.good luck barack!

  • True, they are totally off-base, as were the democrats who compared Bush to Hitler. FYI he isn't looking all that bright now...he's made quite a few rhetorical mistakes in the past few months. Comparing healthcare to the USPS? WTF?

  • it's a psychological mindgame. if you label something long enough, you motivate others to echo the label. have you noticed "socialists", "socialism", "obamacare", and other mindless labels that don't make any sense? it's hard to miss these repetitive labels.

you become annoyed and they know what they are doing. it's meant to confuse people to make them feel weak.

repetition is a strong psychological tool.

  • Cuba has the best doctors and medical staff in the world no other country can compare. Not Canada, Britain, the U.S. # 37 lol, or any other country. You want to talk about a good Health care system why not look at the BEST. CUBA! VIVA CUBA!

  • Cuba should be the model for every government in the world. Its a perfect society. Everyone loves their sweet uncle Castro.

  • Correction: Cuba sends it's highly skilled docs to other countries. If you want great Cuban care, move to Venezuela.

  • or canada, japan. pretty much cubans are free to travel the world, but the US makes it impossible for them to come to the US legally and there isn't an incentive for an educated Cuban to come to the States if there are other countries that they can goto that are decent :D

  • True, unless they're into US-Cuban politics. I've heard nothing but great things about Cuban docs, but I've never understood the obsession with their healthcare system...hard to imagine wanting theirs over the US system.

  • -Or Spain, and Africa, and just about every other part of the world really, my uncle is a naval doctor in Cuba, he travels just about everywhere, Cuba provides services to the best of its ability, there's plenty of doctors who speak multiple languages, have good IQ's like just about any American doctor, their only downfall really is having to endure the Cuban government, hell my own mother was a pediatrician in Cuba, 12 years of studies, worthless here in the states, imagine that.

  • I think one of the worst things about our immigration policies is the way we teach foreign docs...many of them have too hard a road to get re-certified once they get here. we should be giving them incentives to come here.

  • No kidding, the laws are changing a bit though, in favor of foreigners who seek to re-establish themselves professionally, but to be quite honest, with respect to Cuba, I can understand why the circumstances are as such, after Bay of Pigs and Kennedy, etc. We can thank Castro and the CIA for that, Inevitable really, things can only progress though.

  • The problem is that Barack Obama already compromised with the insurance companies he sold us out. Making packs with the devil of course ur going to be given heat.

  • SINGLE PAYER, GOD DAMN IT!

  • Without killing the insurance companies first who use government compulsion to mandate rules and rates upon us ....Single payer care will only prop up the big insurance companies as Medicare Part D does for large Pharmaceutical companies.

  • Single payer Care will Only Prop Up Big Insurance Companies... and with whose money? Were will we generate this new needed funding?

If you Really Want to Prop up the Private insurance companies with Single payer tax payer money then you are missing the battle.

We want AVAILABILITY for ALL people to get health care and the best way is to cut out the insurance companies.

Laysk Eye, Plastic surgery are not covered with ANY insurance and they are Cheaper every year!

  • Also let's get of the FDA and stay out of the way of farmers too. If they want to use pesticides, let them. We don't need to regulate drugs either. Anything people sell is always good.

Profits are way more important then people anyways!

  • Would anyone be for a public option that does not include regulating the private sector? If so please reply.

  • Insurance is not applicable to this issue, since what is being sought is unconditional ENSURANCE via a wilful misuse of democracy, and the expansion of the money supply. Since the time of Teddy Roosevelt, the expansion of the money supply is the primary goal, and not better healthcare, which could be better provided on a free market. Therefore, the proper reform is to get government out of all aspects of healthcare.

  • Better health care thru free market .?.lol

    Yeah works real well ..here

The whole industrial world has public health care and at least half the cost per person

Insurance is the problem ...It is an industry of profit without responsibility and its greedy client dumping ..pre existing conditions ASS is up!

  • On a free market without government accreditation, etc., you and others of a similar mind, would not be prevented from offering healthcare, on whatever terms you chose to offer. This would create competition, and challenge minds too often misdirected towards figuring out how government can be used to enforce others to pay, for the most expensive options possible.

  • where are they going to get the money for health care.

where are they going to get the money for the stimulus.

where are they going to get the money to repair the infrastructure of the nation.

they are going to print it.

be ready for inflation and the eventual collapse of the dollar.

  • lol debt has been with us for a long time It is perpetual...

You may as well get good health care out of it

rather then rebuilding Iraq ..who hate us by the way

You should watch the first 30 minutes of Zeitgeist: Addendumon How money mechanics have been working...YOU CAN FIND IT ON YOUTUBE

  • Dawnelle Keys, 2 year old daughter was refused treatment at Martin luther King Hospital in Los Angeles. She had insurance too...Her daughter died.. but it saved alot of money for the share holders

    Youtube it.

  • I'm sick of the government ramming down public school education down my throat. Also i don't need the government ramming the police and fire department down my throat either.

I'm sick of tired of paying for other kids to go to public schools. If their parents aren't wealthy enough to home school or send their kids to private school, then too bad. ( I'm being sarcastic)

  • Look what bothers me is this: 1) US spent TRILLIONS of dollars on illegal wars, destroying homes and cities, killing over a million innocent lives, and we're ALL GOOD about it. We wave our flags and says "Hooray for the USA!" 2) but when it comes to spending BILLIONS [not Trillions] to provide medical coverage for every American, there's a REVOLT.

On both points DEATH has won the day.

Does no one else out there see we are culture of DEATH and life has no value? Not even our neighbors?

  • goddamn right, man

  • excellent comment....also, the fuckin' town halls are just a psy op...a CIA psy op...to get people rowled up, entrapped, and incarcarated....SICK SICK country

  • I'm not good with either or most of what our government touches.

  • see, you're joking, but there are a lot of people who think exactly that.

The saddest part is that a lot of the people who think like that wouldn't be able to afford health insurance, schools, etc. on their own

  • Comment removed

  • Can't Obama just shove the thing through. I mean what's the point of this filibuster proof thingity-jig any way?

  • the root reason for this is the pharma industry has done a wonderful job of convincing Americans that drugs will heal all their problems (can someone tell me why cancer rates only go up as we "get closer to a cure"?) and pharma lobbyists have succeeded in bribing congress to forgo the "public option"....Americans think we have freedom and don't have socialism, but fact remains we have the most entrenched govt among industrialized nations and our taxes just keep increasing...

  • Want to go on a date?

  • Whose buying?

  • The Health Care industry is pouring 1.4 million a day [in advertisements and funding right-wing talk shows] to defeat the Obama Bill.

So if Obama did receive 18 million from the same group in campaign contribution then "what the hell is going on?"

Is this all a show to keep the SHEEP occupied?

  • I personally believe the health care bill is just another scam to bilk money from the insurance companies or people. Hilary and Bill tried the same shit during his term.

The government hasn't run ANY program efficiently and at a break even cost. Not one, Medicare, Medicaid, Post Office, cash for clunkers, the war, bailouts, Freddie & Fannie, and so on. Current health care is jacked due to gov subsidies and mandates. Mandates amount to 20-50% of your current health costs.

  • MASSIVE FAILURE of CRITICAL THINKING

  • I disagree. The BAILOUT worked to perfection.

Banking Industry poured Millions of dollars into campaign contributions in order to repel government regulations & transparencies turning the New York Stock Exchange into their personal Casino. Once they ran the housing market into the ground by leveraging toxic assets then they got our tax dollars [on top of all that] to buy their worthless paper.

Also, how many people do you know would give up their Medicaid/Medicare, or quit their Postal jobs?

  • Your right. It worked perfect for them.

I don't think people would give up their postal job. It needs to be taken from them.

Here are the numbers: USPS moved 213 billion pieces of mail in fiscal year 2006. This year, that number is expected to fall to 180 billion. The amount of money the postal service has been losing goes up and down, but its all bad — $5.1 billion in 2007, $2.8 billion in 2008, and a projected $6 billion in 2010.

If this were your business, you'd be out of business.

  • Let's get rid of the police because corporations can do the policing for a much cheaper cost and do it more efficiently.

  • Yes the demand for USPS service is just not there anymore. Going the same way like Newspapers I'm afraid.

Back on Health Care, I notice many people writing that Public Health Care will be the ONLY available option. Totally Incorrect. Not true.

Like Public Schools, If you don't want to send your kids there then send them to Private.

Will the Public, or National, Health Care system be as efficient as Private? No one knows for sure but at least everyone will get some sort of coverage.

  • If you look at the USPS history they have mismanaged it for years nit just since demand has gone down. And, if demand is down so much that it a drain close it & turn over service to private companies.

And I don't the gov touching health care like the schools. Our educational standards have dropped dramatically since the Dept of Education came along (well documented). They always want more money to fix a problem they created in the first place.

  • When the Public School system was allowed to be fully run by the State, educational quality was at an acceptable rate.

But when that DUMB-ASS president Bush Jr. came in with that idiotic "No Child Left Behind" crap, it imposed Federally standardized testing thus removing traditional teaching. Figures that a Stupid Republican president would push Public Schools into FED control.

Thanks Bush! Thanks Republicans! For shoving our kids education system into the Federal shitter.

  • You're right but, I actually think the downfall started much earlier with the Department of Education.

  • Obama gave his whole program away during the elction with his remarks against NAFTA and his reassurance to Canada's leadership that it was campaign rhetoric. If you shitheads now want to believe that he is also incompetent like Bush--you can,, but that does not make it true. Wake-up people--you been sold.

  • Typical

  • As I type this there is some clown on Fox News "Marc Hill PHD" trying to turn health care into a racists issue.

  • democrat.

  • Hey what i want is the fed to manage my health care the same way they have managed social security........... wait I'm not a democrate.

  • Obama sold us out

  • USA is one big bribe.

  • Obama is a wall street puppet.

  • Obama's poll numbers are sinking like a rock. Americans now see the "change" as just the same old left wing crap. This empty suit Obama is toast in 2012. With only the race based black vote going for Obama, it'll be a landslide for the GOP. Obama is all form and no substance

  • World Health Organization ranked the countries of the world in terms of oval health performance, and the U.S. (was) 37th In the fairness of health care, America is 54th. The irony is that the United States spends more per capita for health care than any other nation in the world, (The European Dream p 79 80 & NYT Nov 22, 2004). American education is the same

Soulless Insurance & Pharma Corps legally bribe politicians - See my video about avg payout between 1 to 4 million per Senator

  • i'm saying that in case youre a Ron Paul supporter. if not, then nevermind. Except for the fact that America is a nation of peasants, and anyone saying Americans deserve this must only think there's teabaggers here

  • You people are morons, Barack Obama is not president of the libertarians, the progressives, fox news, real news, corporations, bilderberg, the activists, the rich, the poor, or YOU. He is the President of the United States of America, all 300 million of us. All you people manage to do is reveal how pitiful you really are when get all indignant that Obama is not doing exactly what you want. This country was built on the compromise, deal with it.

  • nah it wasnt.

  • Quit talking nonsense, We had three major compromises which allowed the Constitution to be pasted, the Connecticut Compromise which created the bicameral house, 3/5th compromise between slave states and non slave states, and the Massachusetts compromise between Federalist and Anti-federalist.

  • hahahahah and the slaves that were 'compromised' into 3/5ths human, were they part of this compromise? yes, there were compromises, mostly by wealthy landowners, some of whom were very progressive (Jefferson) and many who were not.

you saying that these compromises were good is like saying that the compromises wealthy corporations in oligopolies make with each other is a true compromise. enjoy your 3/5ths rights under the AT&T and Time Warner compromise, buddy

  • Your idealizing would be inspiring if it wasn't suicidal. Without all three compromises there won't be a Constitution and their won't be a United States. Need I remind you, slavery ripped this country apart, and if you look at a electoral map you can see we still haven't healed from it.

  • hahahahahah 'idealizing'. "slavery ripped this country apart" "we still haven't healed from it" now look who's idealizing. Dont be silly. That `compromise` led to the bloodiest conflict in America's history. I think it's great that you brought up this example, accidentally, because it just underscores how many these people 'compromises' can kill.

  • gullible

  • Such an insightful comment.......I don't even know why I'm being called gullible.

  • Never compromise with conservatives. If people seeking change compromise on change with people who do not want change then there will be no change.

  • Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder. George Washington

The only real financial crisis of the U.S.A. is hiding in the audit of The Fed Scam!

We The People are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. -Abraham Lincoln

  • President Obama, this is now your opportunity to be a great President like Jackson, Lincoln and Kennedy. Great Presidents do Great things! They have to show great Honor and integrity. We the People know the truth. Please join Us! Tell the American people the Truth! Confess! Americans are forgiving! We feel if this took place, a renewed Spirit of Patriotism could spread through our upper governmental management. The American people have never lost our Spirit of Patriotism!l! Join U.S.!

  • does anyone believe him?

  • Obama: The Great Compromiser....

  • that's what he ran his campaign on, I'm just disappointed it took screaming republicans for him to get to this point.

  • yeah, a crazy rightwing government fueled by crazy oligarchs and challenged by even further rightwing disenfranchized ideologues such as yourself

  • Thomas Jefferson spoke about the tenuous nature of governments - IN particular, he said a society that did not physically attack the government at least every 20 years would become corrupt

Today, hundreds of years later, despite being well armed, the Americans just roll over and take it like a little yatch!

  • hahahahahahahah yeah rightwing militarists who watch hitler documentaries on a corporate network fetishistically and are extremely irrational racists whobelieve in Daddy Space Ape are going to create a just free system. theyre worse than corporatist fascist overlords.theyre peasats

  • OMG Obama made a deal with everyone and their uncles. That's why they're attacking him left and right. It all makes sense. FOX News actually loves him. Republicans really love him. People are bringing guns to his events, not to intimidate, but out of love. And the beat goes on in corporate propaganda land U.S.A. Real/Fake News is a big part of it.

  • ima a black man and i been preaching this forever. also the last real preisident we had was jfk, the rest were just puppets

  • I believe you my friend. Actually they did kill Abe LIncoln also for not "going along"

  • Everyone read above. This guy uses his brain. You all should try doing that sometime. JFK was the last true President who gave a damn. The rest are bought out by the Bilderberg group. If you don't know who they are do some research.

    ~Void~

  • Well just make sure you vote wisely in the next election and hopefully the American people will see some real change.

  • i voted ron paul

  • me too

  • You won't get healthcare that is an alternative to the Corporate model until you have a Government that is an 'alternative' to the Corporate Model.

  • The "government"(the State) is corporate in nature.

It is the corporation that has authority over all the other ones(with limitations that vary depending on the decisions of the mob).

There is no "good government", there will never be, specially a government that gets to decide over a large amount of people/land.

Shit gets out of control too damn easy and it is hard to keep tract of it.

Solution: A more localized way of managing. Secede from the union.

  • You say 'more localized way of managing' and I think 'post-capitalist feudalism'.

You say 'there is no good government', and I say 'there is no no government'. You say you want to solve America's problems by bringing things down to the local level, I say look at Ethiopia and Afghanistan: weak central government, no peace, no prosperity. Now look at China.

  • As government has been growing in the US(and taxes raised), things have been getting more corrupted, that is a fact.

Having the management being localized, it is easier for people to keep track of it. "A few in charge of a lot" lessens.

Don't use other countries as examples when they are run by different groups funded by outsiders.

  • What are you talking about? Of course I will compare the US to other countries.

look, I'm not saying you're wrong in asking for more power to local communities, I'm merely pointing out that it's not the miracle cure it's cracked up to be.

  • Asking for more power to local communities does not make a central government strong.

This will cause secession, states breaking up, awesomeness, the federal government becomes obsolete, no big wars and expansionism are funded.

So it looks like we are in the same page...

  • I think you're terribly wrong in thinking a massive decentralization of political decision making will make things better. Because look, the federal government already is more or less the private enforcer of the country's largest corporations. And it takes a really big corp to pressure the federal govt- states or, worse, local communities, can be controlled by anybody, even medium scaled business,

  • so if you want a society that's 100% business run and where government is completely merged with the private business sector (i.e. fascism), then decentralization is the way forward.

No, for now you need a strong central govt because its the only institution over which the population can have a say, so it needs to be strong enough to resist tyrannical private power.

  • Now, I'm actually all for radical decentralizaiton of decision making, but *along with the radical decentralization of economic power first*. We need an economy dominated by democratic cooperatives (a la Mondragon) rather than corporate tyrannies that are basically built on the model of fascist dictatorships. That would bring the power back to the people and end the reign of the narrow political-economic ruling class that's running most countries. That's called social-Libertarianism.

  • I never said I wanted the private sector to be merged with the State, that is what we have now and things are going horribly.

The State, regulates, yes, but also subsidizes, make contracts, issues patents, issues permits, prohibits, restricts, certifies, tax; certain companies, not all equally, it is impossible to do that, so they choose who to help and who not to help.

Corporations related to them by blood or friends have more luck than others.

  • You can't get rid of production, people need it, but you can get rid of this beast, this Frankenstein that threatens your life if you do no forcibly donate money so he can expand his powers through wars and genocides.

Mass secession prevents central governments from accumulating large sums of money via taxation.

The State is a tool for corrupt corporations to grow and when they grow the State and the corporations engage in a revolving cycle of Fascism.

Remove the State, there is no proxy.

  • Obama made a deal with the insurance companies and big pharma well before the whole smoke and mirrors began. There will be no public option, no negotiating lower costs etc. To think other wise is to ignore the facts. Period

  • Obama is a an epic failure and nothing more then GW's 3rd term. Look at all the central planning they both believe in

FISA, UnPatriot act, Growing the NSA

Adding 21,000 troops - increasing the war funding by 4% over W - Bombing Pakistan

Signing statements, Renewing Faith based initiatives -- Funding the IMF, - backing NAFTA, Cafta UN, NATO over our own laws.

No change -- More of the same central planning over the people

You cannot see this some one should just give you some Obama knee pads

  • If Obama is half cocked on full healthcare for all of course its bound to fail which is just what the insurance and drug company's want.

Its really sorry to see but this could kill single payer for another decade.

I care what happens in the US because i've been their.

  • Why can't Congress draft a bill that protects consumers without single-payer? Why is it all or nothing? Insurance is not the only reason healthcare is unaffordable.

A two week supply of Tetracyclin and Amoxycillin in America, $126 in Thailand, $8.25 for two weeks

In America big Pharma sold $271 billion in pills last year. We need to tackle the underlying reasons why healthcare is so expensive and stop putting all of our focus on blaming the insurance companies.

  • Big Pharm is the last place we should make cuts...biochemistry is our best hope for saving as many lives as possible. And you can't ever compare prices across countries like that...there are many reasons besides "corporate greed" why we have higher prices than Thailand.

  • Last year the Pharmacuetical companies sold $271 billion in pills. 24% of their profits went back into advertising, only 17% went back into R&D.

Research and advertising to sell us many drugs we don't need. There is a lot of room for cuts.

  • RnD we subsidize. Yea that fact rarely gets out there.

  • I see ppl offering some version of your argument every time Pharm comes up...very interesting, but not relevent. It doesn't matter what you want the companies to do, it's what they are going to do. If you cut their profits, they'll maintain advert. while cutting R&D. We need them to continue their research. Sad but true.

  • Well, now the other shoe has dropped...

  • Ralph Nader gave everyone a third choice by standing up once again. I'll vote in protest for an honest man anytime over just another status quo Democrat. It's time people get over the idea that they are wasting a vote to vote outside the rigged game of the Rep/Dem duopoly.

  • The problem is that Nader is simply wrong in his solutions. If someone can explain to me how he's going to shut down all the corporate greed without increasing the power of the Gov, I'd love to hear it. He'll get the same result as Obama - more corporate involvement with every step.

  • I guess all you suckers who voted for Obama may finally realize how foolish you were to vote for this establishment Democrat. You may now realize that Obama works for the corporations and not for all the people who were fooled into voting for him. Lets vote him out in 2012, that is if there is a vote.

  • Unfortunately we don't have much of a choice. I'm hoping there's a strong progressive candidate but I am not expecting it.

  • Shut up you absolute moron. Do I know you?

  • Healthcare should not be for profit. My life is not worth any amount of money and neither is anyone else's life. The american people need to stand up and say enough is enough. We are tired of the insurance companies making millions off of our well being. It is time for it to stop!

  • sorry pal.

Suppose you are one of the 20% of Americans who smoke. Perhaps you are an idiot and do dumb things all the time.

I am not in favor of the government putting a gun to my head and forcing me to pay my hard earned money for your idiotic medical bills.

Many Americans pay more for their cable then I pay for health insurance.

I pay 98 dollars a month for me and my family.

It is with a high deducible and I have slowly saved the amount of the deductible over a couple years.

  • Have you seen the movie "Sicko" really interesting. Don't forget to save money for the out of pocket expenses thatt insurance will not cover. Also fight if the medical board choses to deny treatment that insurance deems "experimental"

Average cost off cancer is $300,000.00. make sure you save 10 percent of that to cover the costs that you have to pay out of pocket..Be ready to change plans if they raise your premiums if they "see" that you are using too much of your insurance.

  • you shouldn't rely on Sicko, it is total propaganda. the cancer patient most likely should have been denied from what we know in the movie...bone marrow transplants are often not cost effective for advanced kidney cancer. there's a reason most countries wouldn't even consider doing one.

  • Save enough to cover for the out of pocket costs that insurance refuses to pay for too!..remember to fight the insurance if they deny your claims.

    Watch the movie "Sicko"

  • kilo,

I've seen the movie sicko, several times. I have seen all of Moore's films several times. I enjoy his films, appreciate his research, but usually draw different (less emotion based) conclusions to the information.

Our healthcare system is not ideal. There are tremendous flaws. I see that. But I genuinely believe that our specific government could not make LONG TERM improvements. I would have said the same thing if Regan, either Bush's or Clinton were prez.

  • Unless you think Medicare is doing well.

  • You know, you have to eat to live. So is your life worth the profit farmers make on food?

You need shelter to live, should the government handle that too?

Give me a break. If you want a product or service, you pay for it. That is how commerce works.

I would much rather people who work for insurance companies making money, then all the fat cat politicians who are banking big time off of our tax dollars.

The government has shown time and time again that they are incompetent.

  • It's unfortunate that there are people like you in this country. If you hate government so much, then perhaps you should leave this country. Go find some remote island somewhere where you can just live off the land. I, on the other hand, love the government and I care deeply about the citizens of this country. I will do everything I can to make sure that this country moves forwards, not backwards.

  • No the government should leave those alone and what is tied to their labor if they wish. You love the government? lol Governments protect big corporations and give them their charters. States are institutionalized coercion.

  • you realize that not all governments do this, and that maybe what you are seeing with the US gov't is just that hte US gov't is taking on chracteristics of a failed state. YOu know one that isn't responsive towards the needs of its people. Its hard to think outside of what can be something but people have to make the gov't responsive, and with the gov't you atleast have that bloody chance. Whereas corps can do whatever they want.

  • All state are coercive. The US is worse than others in many areas. I do not want any state or a corporation (which is a state charter).

  • No compromise.

  • The question isn't about 'compromise' on health care 'reform', that we can agree on, it's what is the role of government in our lives. I say no to any compromise, no to any government interference in my private life. Just say no to Obama-care.

  • So I guess the 72% of those who supports a non profit government public option health care reform bill, according to the corporate news media in this country. Are considered the "far left".

  • Be wary of those polls...Americans often poll that way *until* the bill is actually about to get passed, then they start to think about the consequences. Public support has plummeted. Same thing happened in '93.

  • I think the corporate media and the insurance companies ads have an effect as well.

  • I mean of course, they always do, but there is something much deeper going on here. The fact is Americans will poll "yes" to anything that sounds appealing until you show them what it will cost. Weird that the Dems can't learn from past mistakes.

  • screw compromise. I owe the senators that take my money nothing!

  • While I understand how disappointed in President Obama's willingness to be more forceful in the ways some would like, myself included, he did promise to be everyone's president.

We must stand for what we want and make a sure that the senators who don't hear our voices realize how much energy each issue will be given.

Thanks for letting us know how the administration seems to be working all sides of the aisle.

  • yea so lets go ahead and keep kids dying because their parents don't have insurance.. :P

  • Comment removed

  • What kids are dying in this country due to lack of health care? Cite a couple stories. Shit we take kids from other countries and save their lives here. I haven't heard of one child dying because they couldn't get treated.

  • you site a couple stories of the nobility of the nation, saving other countries children.

we take far more lives of foreign children in the bombs we drop on their homes.

  • You're absolutely right about that. I'm just pointing out that children in our country don't just simply die because they lack health care. And, in fact many doctors and organizations treat a lot of children from around the globe for free. Which I think is a good thing.

  • Obama is a pushover!

This isn't the first time time he failed to keep his promises (the Iraq war, lowering abortion rates...)

Next time, I'm voting for Nader.

  • Please do, or if the the green party picks someone good, vote for them...this 2 party system is clearly dead.

  • Democrats can be as conservative as she wants to. She can break all the promises in the world, because she knows that leftists won't vote Republican.

If there were more major political parties, the Democrats would have to be more liberal and more sincere, because they will have to compete for leftist votes.

  • TheDepressingNews...

  • I love TheRealNews but this is depressing to watch.

  • You're right.

This is depressing news, but no other news agencies will tell us this.

Most left-wing news agencies tell us that this isn't Obama's fault, and that he'll still improve our healthcare.

Most right-wing ones tell us that Obama failing is a good thing.

Only TheRealNews will tell us the inconvenient truth: that Obama capitulated in his feeble attempts to adopt a decent healthcare system.

  • US is depressing, they are just the messengers :)

  • I think the real question is: will an encumbent going to willingly forfeit campaign funds coming from the Insurance and Health industries? Can they be sure the voters are going to recognize that sacrifice and come through for that representative with a vote (regardless the lack of campaigning attention?

  • Of course, that's how Mike Gravel became President.

  • became president?

  • Exactly.

  • that's a win right there.

  • wink wink, nudge, nudge, obama needs the money from healthcare companies. we voted for obama and all we got is a center right spineless shrimp.

  • I thought we voted for a Communist who is going to destroy America.

  • He is; you did.

  • Consumer choice? You mean the ability to choose your financial rapist? How wonderful.

  • I've accused right wingers of drinking the free market kool aid as many times I'd like to really remember. But when conservatives talk about choice & competition in the free market. What they really mean is the American consumer has the choice of picking which for profit private company can rape, pillage, & rip them off. But I couldn't agree with you more.

  • Why in the world do you think that nothing is wrong with business if your only choices are terrible, worse, and abyssmal. In any actual free market situation there are three stores and all of them are bad, someone would just start up another. You would be happy with the stuff you bought. Why don't you look at the reasons why you aren't happy with any of the choices, rather than ask for a monopoly.
