I've spent most of my adult life in Edinburgh, and live here still. If you were imaginative or dreamy as a child, this city is spellbinding. There are moments in Spring as the light falls through Princes Street gardens that you feel you have walked right into the pages of a long-forgotten story. I love it here, and it is the physical beauty of the place that I know I can never leave behind. It's never been modernised, and I hope it lasts this way forever.
Not trying to cause trouble, but the city does not look more beautiful than say, Prague. I am only going by the video. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to visit Edinburgh one day. The people I've met from Scotland in the past were really cool and friendly.
edinburgh is a very dirty smelly city.dogs;'poos are everywhere.thousands dogs poo in the city day in day out.i m not kidding.this is true.whole city is like a big open toilet or like burst sewage.i dont understand why tourists come to edinburgh.junkies insult and disburb strangers all the time.the food is very unquality, very unhealty.neighbours are very ignorant and noisy.they make too much noise to disburb chinese or polish or russian or indian...racism is very bad in here.very disturbing...
My father lives here, everyone who's been here tells me they loved it. This is the city I want to visit more then any other, the perfect weather for me, scenery, romantic castles, the Edinburgh film festival, witchy places, mountains, mirror lakes.... so much romantic culture & the rich warm Scottish accents.
I was born there. It's a magical place where the new and the old compliment each other. It has beautiful buildings, loads to do but I have one complaint...Was the architect who designed the new Parliameent building on drugs?...Or did he give the planning officer a big back hander? It's the uglies building I have ever seen. Poor QE2, seeing that from her palace windows!
Do you have any gang welfare dependant dirty junkies in Edinburgh ?
UK is such a mess, native people are being transformed by labour into fucking useless single moms and heroine addict fathers.....while they import third world people to compensate....
@docwillems fortunately edinburgh is not affected by the same problems as many other parts of the uk and it has one of the lowest crime rates in europe it is a truly beautiful and amazing place
@hummer8384 Edinburgh is NOT an English city, for one thing it's clean!! The architecture is European and the people are great, very friendly and welcoming.
Man, Edinburgh is so beautiful. I definitely want to go there someday. I see all these pictures of it and they make me just want to go live there. It's like something out of a fairytale.

@Damoleary Absolutely! It's just got something I can't define. From mid-winter's icy winds burning your ears on the Cowgate to summer on Princes Street. My favourite city, bar none.
Nicely done video. I loved my trip to Scotland and hope to make it back soon. Wonderful people and beautiful country. Hard to believe I miss it so much!
@pluto4847 Is that not the case with all big cities in Scotland and England. Agree with you on the unemployment front not that there are a lack of Jobs available just employers want cheap labour from Eastern Europe if you want a job in Edinburgh you need to accept a pish wage, Edinburgh is slowly adopting the values of London.

@mermaidd0lly well they DO have something to do with eachother, they share the same government, and they share United Kingdom/Britain. But yeah Scots don't like to be called English. They see themselves being VERY different from the English, this is coming from a Scottish girl.
I have never been to Edinburgh, but I will be calling it home a year from now and I have to say this video has made me SOOO much more excited about going- i want to leave tomorrow!!!!!! thanks for sharing :)
i must visit, ppl who've been here tell me they loved it n italian n french guys also told me i must see the edinburgh film festival n they loved it n my father loves it.
Miss you Scotland... I was there 4 months ago... I won't forget those lovely streets, the people... feel in love since I was a little girl... Should come back....
*Holds back laughter* Hahahahaha, I'm sorry I can't help it.
Canadian Americans are easy going folk. There's not many of us, but some of us have Canadian and American blood in us. I mean Michael J. Fox is a prime example.
And yes I did meet some English Scots. They are a lot more common than you think.
WHAT CAN I SAY OF THIS VIDEO???...THAT IS WONDERFUL!!!....FOR ME EDINBURGH IS THE MOST AWESOME PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!!...I LOVE BEEN THERE...ITS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, I LOVED IT SINCE THE FIRST TIME I SAW THE CITY , FRIENDLY PEOPLE, GREAT PUBS, FOR ME...ITS THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE!!!!!
@dasparkylad Yeah it does Gyle park is swamped with badly made homes they are not cheap though same as Drylaw , Broughton, Duddingston, Saughton Park and Longstone. Edinburgh is surrounded by sink estates all nicely placed on the outskirts of the City, Edinburgh City Council are great at segregating Rich from Poor that why Edinburgh has so much crime.
@Azureecosse edinburgh has around the lowest crime rates in scotland, try aberdeen or glasgow if you want to see crime! i've never even seen a fight down here in the 3 years i've been here.
@scottishlad1987 Having grown up in Edinburgh (I am now 38) i have to say that it utter balls! you must live in a bubble my friend you need read the Evening News more often, you have given me laugh though the lowest crime rates in Scotland, so what you are saying is there is no crime commited in Edinburgh, wow my experiences must have been a figment of my imagination. You stick to your views and i will stick to mine clearly we are worlds apart, enjoy living in Utopia i wish i could live there.
@Azureecosse no, i don't live in a bubble, maybe you just ask for trouble, i don't know. i doubt that your house i the new town was burgled twice, and i doubt that your car was stolen twice. i've never heard of either of those things happen to anyone i know, you must be very unlucky.
@Azureecosse i just checked out the figures and edinburgh ranks below the scottish average in almost all forms of crime, including burglary and theft. the only thing that edinburgh is above average on is rape! but that dropped significantly since you left apparently.
@scottishlad1987 You really are a total Geek and clearly a young and thick one at that come back to me when you have grown some hair on your balls. I cant be doing with Cretans i bet you still live with your parents, i bet they cannot wait to off load their precotious little boy. Maybe you will then see what the big world is like.
@Azureecosse yeah, i'm quite young 23 (hardly a baby though), that's about all you got right there. i haven't lived with my parents since i was 18, i have been round the "big world", and i quite liked it, clearly more than you anyway- you seem to focus on the negative side of places. i don't know what you mean by a thick geek, i've been to uni and got a degree in engineering but my life's really more about having fun with mates right now. queue the sarcastic response form the bitter old man...
@scottishlad1987 if that was a cheap attempt to try and wound me my friend you have failed spectaculary, 38 and comfortable i maybe, but wise with it, i would love have had the wisdom i have now when i was 23, I am glad i am not in my twenties anymore my life took of in my 30's and to be honest i would not trade anything for that, i hope you learn to pick up some wisdom by the time you reach 38 and you to can them attempt to have a semi intelligent conversation with a 23 year old.
@Azureecosse oh yeah i bet you're really wise mate, so wise that you moved out of a city with lower than average crime rates because you thought that it was high haha. edinburgh is amazing, beautiful and safe, you're not just unwise but you're blind if you don't know that.
I lived in Edinburgh for over a year. It was definitely the best time of my life, though pretty fucked up at the same time. Edinburgh has quite a dark underbelly lol.
I only regret that an important part of Edinburgh ( and of Scotland , which is a religious , Protestant -presbyterian part of Great-Britain ) has been ignored : a description of the Presbyterian (= Reformed ) cathedral St Giles , on the one hand , and of the Houses of the ( Presbyterian , not Anglican/Episcopalian ) Church of Scotland 's Parliament , a " must " in the visit of the city , or also the religious Reformer John Knox's house , on the other hand ...
I have never got a proper look at the Scottish Parliment on the telly it looks a mess must go through some time and have a proper look just hope I'm wrong.
as an American who will be in Scotland for the first time,i plan to keep my eyes open and my mouth shut.i just want to soak in the culture of my forefathers.I was raised as a Scottish American and am very proud of that
I am fom Edinburgh born and bred and i would never class it as Beautiful, run down yes scratch the surface and its an ugly place, would not miss it . All these shots are of the city centre move 15 minutes in either direction and its completely different. The Edinburgh Folk are what make Edinburgh a nice place not the tourist traps.
@Azureecosse Think the city centre is fabulous for tourists. As you say stray too far and it's not so great. Wonderful history attached to the tourist hotspots. Too many robbing junkies around certain areas. This was a beautiful video of the bits tourists should see
@scottishlad1987 Arent you the Lucky one. I used to Live in the New Town, initially i was really impressed with the Area the Architecture and the People. Sadly that was an illusion, having had my car stolen twice and my home burgled twice , I sold up Crime is rife in all of the so called Beauty spots of Edinburgh check with L&B police. My friend lives in Bruntsfield Beautiful area she got mugged on her own doorstep...and punched because she dared to defend herself. Beauty is skin deep....
even though I return 2 or 3 times a year I miss my home town and Scotland so very much. Thanks for posting now time to book a flight back for a couple of days. You can take the scotsman out of Scotland but you can never take Scotland out of the scotsman.
Sorry but it's bland compared to Prague, Salzburg, Stockholm, Venice, Monte Carlo, Zurich, Bruges, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Toulouse, Barcelona, Lisbon, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong, Kyoto, Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore etc.
Typical British thinking they are the best at EVERYTHING. At least they're the best at getting drunk and having the highest number of teenage pregnancy in Europe.
@Graddee I don't normally criticise people over the internet, but in what way does your second paragraph have anything to do with this video?! Rant about the British on a Blog or a relevant video.
@Graddee i`m not british but the you can`t hide the truth about british ! No nation in the world history have controlled the world like british ! You live in america now and forgot that most of american are british I agree that the cities you did mention are beautyful but you forgot that most of the cities you did mention are what they are now because of british! Learn some History and then comment about british !
@Graddee I'm glad you retracted your comment! Ever been to London? Ever seen the Garden of England that is Kent? Ever seen the beauty of the Lake District? Ever walked on a picturesque Cornish beach? Or had cream tea in a quaint Dorset TeaRoom? The list is endless!!!!!! Great Britain is called 'Great Britain' for a reason - it's because it's GREAT! That includes Scotland! :)
@Graddee I know you have retracted this but I have visited a lot of you places mentioned and the only one I found close to Edinburgh was in fact Budapest, not just for the beautiful buildings, but for the beautiful people too. I am a Scot through and through, born just across the water from Edinburgh, in fact it's what I can see when I stand on the beach in my village. Unfortunately I had to move with my parents when I was young,....Miss my birthplace very much and visit as often as I can.
@Graddee your comment is so negative, just shows you have just completely generalised and offended. You should be ashamed. Stop being such a pesimist and so tunnel visioned. You disgust me.
@Graddee i doubt very much you've been to all these places, or even edinburgh! i've been around a fair bit now and i do happen to think that edinburgh is at least one of the few nicest cities in europe. probably why so many people from around the world choose to study, work, and live here- and why they all tell me that they love it so much. christ, i just noticed that you bangkok and beijing above edinburgh, these places i can tell you are dumps!
@Graddee and i should point out that this video was made by an american, so maybe take back your comment about this being typical british thinking that we are best at everything.
i was there one time, just one day. Scottish people are strange for me. The city was nice, intresting greystone houses. For me this is the most beautiful city in the British Island. Of course London great, but around the Thames this "Pink Floyd factory"- not so panoramic view..Edinburgh have unique architecture, and beautifull the whole city. Greetings from Europe!
@pluto4847 I really dont mean to be rude btw but first of all, Edinburgh is in Scotland, its cause a lot of scots dont like being thought of 'English' people and Scots are not english; Sorry man, just defending my home people :)
Such a beautiful city! The Edinburgh band Universal You made a video for their new single Iskala that involves a lot of the famous streets of Edinburgh too....and a well known pub too...can anyone name it!??!
I stayed at Bughtlin Loan, then moved to Stenhouse Drive when I was in Edinburgh. Enjoyed every minute of four years living in Edinburgh. One thing I really enjoyed was walking along Princes St on early Sunday morning when it's kinda quiet...been to the Highlands and it's beautiful! Of course, there are other cities which are as beautiful or maybe even more beautiful, but Edinburgh has a kind of magic to it....best regards to all Scots who read this.
Edinburgh is a really beautiful city !! And the Scottish are very nice people (nothing to do with the English... and Alpha Trans a good company in Soc.Land
Born-and-bred in the west of Edinburgh. The City centre is truley a beautiful place - other than that, not that great tbh(like every city) - Except Gorgie and Tynecastle of course.
I was in Edinburgh last week with my class! And I have to say, it was just amazing. Yes, it is actually the most beautiful city in the world, at least where I was in my life. At the moment I am editing also the video from the trip. I hope it'll be as wonderful as yours.
Lived in Edinburgh all my life and I still shit myself every time the one o clock gun goes off. It's usually freezing and pelting with rain and we have huge social problems outisde the town, but I'd choose it over anywhere else in the world. No place like home.
ma home town init.

Canadian Americans are easy going folk. There's not many of us, but some of us have Canadian and American blood in us. I mean Michael J. Fox is a prime example.
And yes I did meet some English Scots. They are a lot more common than you think.
Wowsers!

I like how Edinburgh hasn't just swamped itself with suburbs and budget houses
dasparkylad 1 year ago
@dasparkylad Yeah it does Gyle park is swamped with badly made homes they are not cheap though same as Drylaw , Broughton, Duddingston, Saughton Park and Longstone. Edinburgh is surrounded by sink estates all nicely placed on the outskirts of the City, Edinburgh City Council are great at segregating Rich from Poor that why Edinburgh has so much crime.
Azureecosse 1 year ago
@Azureecosse edinburgh has around the lowest crime rates in scotland, try aberdeen or glasgow if you want to see crime! i've never even seen a fight down here in the 3 years i've been here.
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@scottishlad1987 Having grown up in Edinburgh (I am now 38) i have to say that it utter balls! you must live in a bubble my friend you need read the Evening News more often, you have given me laugh though the lowest crime rates in Scotland, so what you are saying is there is no crime commited in Edinburgh, wow my experiences must have been a figment of my imagination. You stick to your views and i will stick to mine clearly we are worlds apart, enjoy living in Utopia i wish i could live there.
Azureecosse 1 year ago
@Azureecosse no, i don't live in a bubble, maybe you just ask for trouble, i don't know. i doubt that your house i the new town was burgled twice, and i doubt that your car was stolen twice. i've never heard of either of those things happen to anyone i know, you must be very unlucky.
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@Azureecosse i just checked out the figures and edinburgh ranks below the scottish average in almost all forms of crime, including burglary and theft. the only thing that edinburgh is above average on is rape! but that dropped significantly since you left apparently.
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@scottishlad1987 You really are a total Geek and clearly a young and thick one at that come back to me when you have grown some hair on your balls. I cant be doing with Cretans i bet you still live with your parents, i bet they cannot wait to off load their precotious little boy. Maybe you will then see what the big world is like.
Azureecosse 1 year ago
@Azureecosse yeah, i'm quite young 23 (hardly a baby though), that's about all you got right there. i haven't lived with my parents since i was 18, i have been round the "big world", and i quite liked it, clearly more than you anyway- you seem to focus on the negative side of places. i don't know what you mean by a thick geek, i've been to uni and got a degree in engineering but my life's really more about having fun with mates right now. queue the sarcastic response form the bitter old man...
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@scottishlad1987 if that was a cheap attempt to try and wound me my friend you have failed spectaculary, 38 and comfortable i maybe, but wise with it, i would love have had the wisdom i have now when i was 23, I am glad i am not in my twenties anymore my life took of in my 30's and to be honest i would not trade anything for that, i hope you learn to pick up some wisdom by the time you reach 38 and you to can them attempt to have a semi intelligent conversation with a 23 year old.
Azureecosse 1 year ago
@Azureecosse oh yeah i bet you're really wise mate, so wise that you moved out of a city with lower than average crime rates because you thought that it was high haha. edinburgh is amazing, beautiful and safe, you're not just unwise but you're blind if you don't know that.
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
I lived in Edinburgh for over a year. It was definitely the best time of my life, though pretty fucked up at the same time. Edinburgh has quite a dark underbelly lol.

A success , this video !

Azureecosse 1 year ago
@Azureecosse Think the city centre is fabulous for tourists. As you say stray too far and it's not so great. Wonderful history attached to the tourist hotspots. Too many robbing junkies around certain areas. This was a beautiful video of the bits tourists should see
jambojhj 1 year ago
@Azureecosse what are you on about? 15 minutes south (past my flat) is beautiful!
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@scottishlad1987 Arent you the Lucky one. I used to Live in the New Town, initially i was really impressed with the Area the Architecture and the People. Sadly that was an illusion, having had my car stolen twice and my home burgled twice , I sold up Crime is rife in all of the so called Beauty spots of Edinburgh check with L&B police. My friend lives in Bruntsfield Beautiful area she got mugged on her own doorstep...and punched because she dared to defend herself. Beauty is skin deep....

Graddee 1 year ago
@Graddee I don't normally criticise people over the internet, but in what way does your second paragraph have anything to do with this video?! Rant about the British on a Blog or a relevant video.
thedude1325 1 year ago
@Graddee i`m not british but the you can`t hide the truth about british ! No nation in the world history have controlled the world like british ! You live in america now and forgot that most of american are british I agree that the cities you did mention are beautyful but you forgot that most of the cities you did mention are what they are now because of british! Learn some History and then comment about british !
ndoj74 1 year ago
@ndoj74 Yeah... I need take back my comment. i was grouchy when I typed that. Anyways I'm not American I'm 100% Nordic.
Graddee 1 year ago
@Graddee I'm glad you retracted your comment! Ever been to London? Ever seen the Garden of England that is Kent? Ever seen the beauty of the Lake District? Ever walked on a picturesque Cornish beach? Or had cream tea in a quaint Dorset TeaRoom? The list is endless!!!!!! Great Britain is called 'Great Britain' for a reason - it's because it's GREAT! That includes Scotland! :)
MsJesusreigns 1 year ago

You disgust me.
ldavisx 1 year ago
@Graddee i doubt very much you've been to all these places, or even edinburgh! i've been around a fair bit now and i do happen to think that edinburgh is at least one of the few nicest cities in europe. probably why so many people from around the world choose to study, work, and live here- and why they all tell me that they love it so much. christ, i just noticed that you bangkok and beijing above edinburgh, these places i can tell you are dumps!
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@Graddee and i should point out that this video was made by an american, so maybe take back your comment about this being typical british thinking that we are best at everything.
scottishlad1987 1 year ago
@scottishlad1987 the person who made this video is actually from Edinburgh and it was made just to give a little insight into the city.

i was there one time, just one day.
