  • @StylyDutch I know that in this country it is hard to reach a gynecologist but if you explain these issues to your huisart, s/he will definitely let you see one. All you need is an ultrasonic device thing. It does not hurt at all.

I was 16 when I was diagnosed, I have started the hormones only this year and I now realize that I should have done that earlier in stead of letting myself suffer all those years trying to lose weight and be less stressed.

  • @esinishe What hormones are you taking?

  • PCOS is horrible, I agree but it is not disastrous. I have always wanted kids and I am scared now that I know it will be harder. All the weight issues etc.. but if I want it to happen, I know it will.

Well, in the end, I lead a happy life. I love and I am loved, I can move, I can breathe, I can eat yummy food, I can work,... It is nice to find answers, but I am aware of PCOS and I am also aware of the fact that I should not overdramatize it.

    cheers everyone!

  • Aside from weight issues, PCOS women come in all shapes & forms, which does not necessarily preclude you from conceiving...it is important to remember, you cannot be on clomid, metformin or bcp without proper diagnosis & proper monitoring so that you follow the correct treatment path. Not all PCOS sufferers are insulin resistant. You need to be followed by a competent health care provider in order to beat this distressing disorder...good luck!

  • I'm only 19, but I have quite a lot of those symptoms. My period comes once every 3-5 months or so. Last time it lasted for about 2/3 months.. so I'd call that very irregular.

I also have a fairly deep voice, Im pretty mascular and I have a lot of long thick black hairs on my upper legs, few on my chest, stomach and some finer, but still very long hairs on my back and face.

I'm not really worried and definitely not nearly worried enough to get it checked out, but does it sound familiar?

  • @StlyDutch go get it checked...... it can lead to endometriosis, uterine cancer, ovaian cancer.... go get it checked.

  • @ChkaBay5287 Weird as it may sound, but I wouldn't care if I got cancer (yes I know cancer can cause death).

I've never wanted kids either so it's ok.

I probably don't have it anyway, but if I do, I'd rather die than getting it checked.

  • It is extremely disappointing that this condition was not diagnosed sooner ( I had seen several doctors regarding my period) it was when I went to a family planning clinic that they looked more thoroughly into my issues. I am now waiting to be able to see a specialist.

To any one with issues regarding their period I would recommend a family planning clinic as opposed to a gp - even your regular one. They have helped me more than any doctor has been able to in 4 years.

  • however it was not detected. None of my issues were fixed, and my weight problem continued to get worse - even with a good diet and exercise I gain weight and crave chocolate continuously.

About three years after my initial testing (blood and external ultrasound) my sister told me that she had been diagnosed with PCOS. Her symptons are different but still related to her period.

I went to a new doctor and asked to have an internal ultrasound. It was confirmed that I have PCOS

  • @tammaay you crAVE CHOCOLATE TOO??? wonder if my PCOS is the cause of my many health and emotional issues?? like sadness and anger.

  • @grettagrids Would wake up in the middle of the night craving chocolate. Or when I first woke up of a morning. Sometimes I would hide it to eat and a 200g block would very rarely see the next day. They could be linked, cause I have also suffered from depression to the point of suicidal thoughts. Although I had a pretty bad childhood and other recent issues which is what I would normally attribute the depression to, although PCOS could be what makes you more susceptible to that.

  • @grettagrids Although my depression was when I was around 8 so I dont know if it would be linked... but I had always struggled with my weight (96kg at 11) regardless of exercise and diet and when my period did start I had a lot of issues with it.

  • Its good to be able to find some more information about this syndrome.

I have struggled with my weight my whole life, and when I eventually got my period it would generally come every 2-6 months. I also have acne, some hairsuitism and my hair started thinning dramatically when I hit puberty.

I have also had a great deal of trouble with all of my contraceptive pills (over 4 years I have tried about 8 products). I was referred to a gynecologist and had some testing done for PCOS

  • great video!!!

  • I've struggled with PCOS symptoms since the age of 12 and I was not correctly diagnosed until the age of 23. Unfortunately my PCOS caused me to develop complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia, which is a pre-cancerous condition. I had a total hysterectomy about 4 weeks ago at the age of 24, no kids and not married. I don't regret the decision to have it done (hello, cancer!) but I urge ANYONE who thinks she may have any of these symptoms to ask your obgyn about them!!!

  • thanks for this video

  • thanks 4 ur video ,it's so enlighting

  • Hello I was wondering how can you make a video like this. I know how to make one with me talking but how do I make one with pictures and words...if u have time let me know thanks

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS last july, and i was wondering if there are any women here who have conceived babies naturally (without the aid of medication)...and what symptoms do you have of pcos, cause it varies from woman to woman

  • i am blessed with four lovelly children that were conceived naturally i worry now as i have two girls and hope i not passed on pcos to them even tho they could be hairy spotty ect and i would love them with all my heart still. shame you get so many narrow minded people out their

  • thanks for the reply 36michelle, how old were you when you when you had your children, if you dont mind me asking, cause although im only 22 at the moment i worry if i leave it too long my condition will get worse...im not planning on having kids anytime soon though

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and I'm 17. I don't have children but my mums friend also has PCOS and she's got 3 children conceived naturally! So It gives me hope :)

I'm quite lucky symptom wise because the only one I have is the loss of periods. My best mate has it too and she's got no periods and the hair problem.

  • well symptom wise..i am abit like you AND your friend, as my periods are regular, but i have the annoying excess hair :(...but i have heard of quite a few women who have conceived naturally, so yes, it does give us hope. my only worry is if it gets worse as you get older....

  • I conceived naturally 4 times. it wasn't until after I had my kids that i was diagnosed with pcos. i quit having periods for over a year. Provera kick started me again though. I have diabedies now and high blood pressure which i take meds for and skin tags and darkning of the skin at the nape of my neck.

  • thanks for replying...its comments like yours that give me and AcidKnockDown that glimmer of hope : )

  • GREAT WORK ON THIS VIDEO. It was very informative and the song was perfect!!

  • To misaaliyah: you wrote it is a disease, but it is a syndrome ( it's all in the name ; )

That is why pcos can be different for every woman, you don't have to have al the symptons. For example: I'm not overweight, but I do have the acné part and I do not ovulate at all. Some women do ovulate a few times a year and never have acne. So it can be different for everybody.

Just wanted to let you now that. Nice job on the vid by the way!

  • i was just disgnoed...can't stop crying about it): why me? i feel like a disapointment as a woman. i feel ugly, and hairy and i'm soooo scared of gaining weight..i'm at a normal weight at the moment (yet barley eat for the past 3 years...eating disorder) but just the thought of being fat...can't take it.

I'm only 17, so i don't know what's going to happen when i want kids.

PCOS sucks so much. why why why me? =\

  • Try to be positive, and keep your faith and believes!

I have been diagnosed with pcos 1,5 years ago ( I'm now 27 years old ), and we have been trying to have a baby for 15 months now. It hurts, but I still have faith that things will turn out ok.

And not all women with pco are 'fat', aproximately 40% is overweight. Actually, I'm quite skinny myself, always have been. Don't worry so much, keep your faith! Big hug for you and the rest of you with pcos.

  • I'm sorry to hear the tragedies that we both share. I have felt that way most of all life. Well let's hope they make some great medical discoveries quite soon. Until then we all suffer...

  • i understand what your going through

i'm 16 and was diagnosed a year ago

i often worry about having kids when i'm older, and for a while was upset about the entire situation (still not happy with it) but when you put what we have into perspectiver, it's not life threatening and is fairly managable

good luck and try not to feel sorry for yourself, i've learned that it doesn't help, being positive does

  • Thank you so much for making this video. I've been wondering about PCOS for a while due to many of the things I've been experiencing adding up to the symptoms of PCOS. It would explain so much.

  • The doctors can do a simple test. Tell your doctor about your concern. If he/she doesn't listen, speak to another doctor...one who's familiar with it. My OBGYN diagnosed mine.

ive always been worried about my weight, even though im not fat im only 8.1/2 stone

im rly scared that if i gain weight i will become anorexic, coz im pretty fucked up in the head as it is, even b4 i found out about this, im only 17, but im scared that im going to gain weight,id rly appreciate it if some1 can talk to personally via email,nd tel me if despite a healthy balance,il gt fat

  • not everyone with POCS will gain weight its different for different people I have the weight part of it but I have no spots and thick strong hair but I know someone who is thin and has it

  • great video!

  • Thankyou for posting this video I have PCOS and am trying to learn more and this really helped

  • I have 7 sisters we all have p.c.o.s. None of us have the same issues. Not all of us are infertile. We do worry about the risks of heart attack(super high cholesterol)ovarian cancers, ovarian failure, early menopause. There are also the ever present issues like bad (cystic) acne, better sideburns and chin hair than our husbands and poor libidos.Let's not forget having an itch and pulling off a skin tag and bleeding (in public in front of people who think you may be contagious)and wierd weight gain

  • Could someone tell me how you can have PCOS and have regular periods?

  • It's called annovulation-your body prepares to ovulate, and even though you don't, the lining is there and has to be released. It actually makes it harder to detect PCOS b/c you don't think anything is "wrong" b/c you are getting "normal" cycles. I'm sort of in that boat. I've got PCOS and my cycles aren't a normal 28day thing, but they do happen every 30-50 days. Some women w/ PCOS can go 6+ months w/ no cycle.

  • This was suppose to be a reply to Lollie-don't know why it posted up here.

  • Ok ty Suz. May I ask whether you have "normal" bleeding? Do you get PMS symptoms? Are they any other menstrual symptoms to look for?

  • hi my name is kimberley, and i also have pcos, its so dishartining knowing that my fertility like many others are dashed, im currently about to start clomid, and im praying with all my heart that it works! i long for children more than anything, i can live with pcos, but not withought children. best of luck for all of you out there.

  • There are worse things than not having children.

You can still have a good life and it doesnt make you any less of a person.

  • im not worried about being less of a person, im happy with who i am, i dont worry about me, its my husband it affects him aswell. thanks for comment tho.

  • im not worried about being less of a person, im not worried about me, i worry about my husband as it effects him aswel, thanks for comment tho.

  • hi lollie,

i know it dosent make you any less of a person, i am honestly not worried about that or me , its my husband who i worry for as it effects him also, but im greatful to have a amzing husband who helps me through. thanks for comment tho

  • This is a great video. Very informative. I just found out last week I have PCOS. I never thought I did because my cycles are regular. It sure it taking my fertility though.

  • thanks I also have pcos and it sucks!

  • this video is really GR8 but one thing that all these PCOSvideos say is lack of irregular menstruation, and thats not always true-you can have regular periods and still have PCOS,(I do)and this may be why so many women dont know that they have it-

  • this is a very useful video baby, this may explain some things to ppl. I love you.
