  • Excellent performance. Thanks for posting. UW is lucky to have Hughes. Maybe the video department could chip in with extra cameras for more interesting camera work.

  • @brojohannes

Thank you much--unfortunately I'm no longer there. And the video camera is my very own stationery one filming from the balcony...

  • This Orchestra sounds very good.

The conductor pass the pages in a very fast way.

    Top class!

Thank you. I still run into players from that performance, and they fondly recall it as one of their favorites. Schumann can be a difficult composer to master.

  • Around 4:30 it seems to get out of tune, especially with the French Horns.

  • No they're not out of tune, but I think you may have inadvertently stumbled onto something very interesting. Namely: Schumann is being a bit of a forerunner of pandiaticism here (a term not even invented until 50 years after his death). Could it be? Would have to look at the score to be sure. At the very least, there are some "stand up and look at me!" color chords here. Schumann is given far too little credit for his harmonic advances.

  • the beginning is not good enough for me. For example, it's charming, but not charming enough. There lacked this sense of "elasticity" that i want in the little opening string sections there.

  • I don't think they were playin it for fukin you only

  • WTF!!! You can go fuck yourself!
