is there any way to shave a cylinder on the acctual phonograph without a dictaphone, i was thinking make a wood circle put it in place of a reproducer and use a sharp screw to shave the cylinder will that work?
@kirtley2010 , There are shaving attachments for phonographs, the problem is that they are very slow, and most of the time a 100 yr old phonograph simply doesn't have the power to cut a record. The cutter is a sharp sapphire.......with a flat blade edge... that isn't to say that you can't experiment. But, Dictaphone/Ediphone shavers can be purchased for under $200
Are the belts in it new? If so where could one acquire a set from?
