  • More Bach please Sandro. It is a wonderful interpretation.

  • Thank you zrshwe, too much kind.

  • I love the way you interpret Bach !!

  • I love it! thank you Sandro!

  • Sandro, I am watching your experiment with great interest, but I have one serious concern - The Fugue. How are you going to play the fugue, if you play the prelude in this (or even slower) tempo?

If you find a good interpretation we may be willing (with your permission) to give it a try on the first coming competition.

  • But Simon already has a very good visual and rendering of this couple.

About my intentions with the fugue.....let me tell that (it's not a joke, I'm speaking seriously) I will not play any Bach fugue.

I have the desert in my mind about how to play these strict counterpoint pieces at the piano, then I'll limit myself to play some preludes, that IMHO permits a more free (let's remember the rapsodic character of the prelude as church genre) style, phrasing and ornamentation choices.

  • ...but apart my first reply, I have to tell:

not so necessary to see a tempo legacy between preludes and fugues in the WTK.

The prelude is an introduction, and an intro must not necessarly have (or have not) the same tempo of the subsequent piece.

Proud of your interest, and because this I preferred to be honest instead of telling a

    weak (already for me) idea.

  • Fabulous ! I really enjoy your videos and have added a few of them to my favorites list. My wrist is currently recovering from an injury. Some of your tips have been helpful in my playing.

    Thank you for sharing !

  • Thank you for so kind comment!

Your injury....is it because piano practising?

Really happy if some of my poor things can help your playing.

  • Yes I'm pretty certain it is. I've been dealing with it for 10-11 months now.

My own fault. I was working on the Chopin "Military" Polonaise (op. 53) and got too agressive with the octaves. I've cut way back and am working on less demanding pieces (Mazurkas, Bach WTK, Scarlatti etc) just to stay active. I probably shouldn't be playing at all but too hard to stay away as you probably know !

I hope to post some videos here one day when things get better.

  • interesting..

  • Thank you. I do not know if this is the correct tempo, but I think that I like it and it is not forbidden....nothing else.

  • Interesting, i like it like that ! Gould plays it a bit faster, but i really like your tempo.

  • Thank you. No pretense, obvious, to fix a "correct" tempo. But there are not tempo indication, and this one is a way as another one....if only works well.

  • it works very well, my tempo would be nearly similar to yours
