Didn't see this explained anywhere, so I'll post it: Anijam was conceived by Marv Newland ('Bambi Meets Godzilla') and he created the main character (Foska). Each animator had to continue the sequence but was only shown a few seconds of the previous animator's work. :)
6:50 - Kaj Pindal was and may still be an animation instructor in Canada at the Sheridan College classical animation department. He's a pretty funny guy, but I never thought that his work warranted much attention.
My classmates and I collaborated and made an Anijam back in animation school. IT was Fun. This is one of the coolest concepts for a cartoon ever! Why more people don't try doing stuff like this is a shame. Hmmmmm.
Thanks so much for posting this. I have not laid eyes on it since seeing it in a theatre during a festival. All I could remember that it was something to do with Marv Newland.
Though I am PROFOUNDLY happy someone finally posted this amazing combination of talent, nothing truly compares to seeing it on the big screen, as I did in 1984. I wish these would be reshown in theaters!
Yeah, I'd love to get a decent transfer of this from laserdisc to DVD. This version is from VHS tape and unfortunately the YouTube Flash player is dropping frames during the playback, so the animation is not as smooth as in the original.
Yess!!! I used to have a tape called the rocketship reel and this was one of my favorite segments on that vhs, but as almost all vhs, it degraded and became unplayable and I've missed this like crazy...thanks for posting!!
Wow! What a masterpiece! I love cartoons that are kind of like nightmares.

Long time no see. Funny the details that stuck with me all this time, like eating the fuse.
I recognized Cruikshank and Caslor immediately, but I mistook Frank Nissen for Ryan Larkin. A whole lot of names to try in the search engine.
