hey, thanks for the praise. to answer your question, the LED does not have a lens cap. the electronics store i buy parts from has a nice selection of LEDs and that is simply and oversized bulb. i cut the hole for it just right so that it was almost self-supported when mounted, but then i used gorilla glue to keep it in place forever. i was really worried the glue would manage to seep and expand through the hole, but it was just perfectly sized.
