  • καταπληκτικη i love it i love it i love it

  • I think it's cool that they decided to do this as a silent film. It must have been hard to adapt, the original story being kind of narration based.

  • The Pet of chuck norris :D

  • People always say that Cthulhu is a Fictional Character, well Cthulhu is FUCKING FACT!

  • hey did anyone notice the hidden message at 1:11 , totally freaked me out , i have goose bumps and now I'm thinking why ?

  • @rahulkachru

    Do tell.

  • @rahulkachru haven't seen any messages :( i suck at those. hell you might suddenly get an invitation to the cult me jelly

  • @Distortion0 Cthulhu for President! Why elect the lesser evil? Its a Demotivational Poster.

  • The 6 Dislikes are Obama, supporters.

  • @0NodMan0 Lol wut?

  • I really want to see this. I keep seeing the DVD at Dragon*Con and not buying it because of my cheapness and laziness. LOL.

  • wow @ cthulhu at the end.

  • Bought this DVD at Comic-Con, best spare-the-moment move I've ever made.

  • THANKS can u pleas upload whole movie in 3gp format

  • I like this film very much, but I have to say that the one shot of Cthulhu at 2:26 in this trailer is done better then any of the shots of him that ended up in the actual film.

  • Real labor of love.

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • If you like old silent horror movies you might want to check out Volkodlak on my channel.

  • awesome !!!!

  • This is a great film. I saw it some time ago at a friend's.

  • They can't make a true Cthulhu film Hollywood is afraid of the old ones.

  • @screamwriter1 I always thought Hollywood was made up OF the old ones. I mean...look real closely at Rachel Ray and tell me she wasn't fathered by Cthulhu. She and the ICarly girl...

  • Booo! Those alien geometries positively euclidian! :)

  • The filmmakers chose to emulate silent film because that was what was around in Lovecraft's day. Imagine if he had made movies. That's what they were going for.

  • @lordboojum I agree, they did a great job with what they had to work with and it was very convincing.

  • alot of these actors are miscast, just college kids wearing fake moustaches. its too bad you felt you had to put your club members in the film at the expense of creating a believable horror movie.

  • @mittROMNEY666 Eh maybe, but for the budget they were working with they didn't exactly have a lot of options.

  • Good movie. and really faithful too unlike most book adaptions! DVD is really worth of its price (and had even finnish subs on it!)

  • thx for the upload <3

  • I can recommend this movie to all who are fans of H.P. Lovecraft, his original vision made into a movie as his original vision could have been done. Too many movie adaptations make it into modern day, a wonderful movie.

  • The cinematography and lighting for this is top notch...

    I am very impressed.

  • hehee this more like a comedy

  • Since when does being in black and white make a film "funny"?

Or are you just that uncultured and stupid?

  • its also the outdatedness and the ridiculous music, not horrorlike at all

  • It is supposed to emulate the styles of old silent movies. A horror movie then was much more lighthearted than one we would see now.

And the movie *does* live up to it's genre. It is more a thriller than a horror movie, it utilizes suspense and mystery rather than scare tatics and gore.

  • HP Lovecraft was a genius :)

But i cant spell Cthulhu :( lol

  • Leslie Baldwin (Greta Johansen) is my 8th grade english teacher

  • looooooooooove it!!! :D

  • Very good Job, Nice trip!!!

  • Saw this last year, apart from lesser moments it's really great! Go watch it

  • If you haven't seen this movie you should! It is an inspiration and a legend!

  • Cool

  • This is why you don't mess with Cthulhu. D:<

  • Looks fascinating!

  • I love the part where I get eaten at the end;) This was a treat to have even a wee tiny part in.

  • LOWER THE FRAMERATE TO 20 AND you got yoURSELF A WINNER! (the 29.97 fps kill the effect for me )

  • good mmovie

  • The last scene, where Cthulhu reaches for those two guys, is sick.

i really want to watch this.

  • I totally agree with you,.. Though the film looks amateurish-like in some aspects it really captures the mad and somewhat-weird atmosphere of the Lovecraft's story..

  • looks very cool!! for that time all the cuts seem pretty professional from my point of view

    gotta see it someday

  • it was made in 2005...it was done to look like an old Universal monster movie.

obviously they did a good job lol

  • uh really? if thats true i totally fell for that lol

they did a great job it looks very old school

  • Just sent away for my copy of this, can't wait for the 'Whisperer'.

Click on my name to see what I'm working on.

  • So. Did you get the movie yet? How was it?

  • It was XLNT.

Bonus marks for packaging, I actually saved the invoice because it was so cool.

The making of featurette is almost as good as the film, which is a pretty accurate 20's era silent-movie with lots of miniatures, cotton wool skies, and a huge carboard Rlyeh that was like something out of Murnau.

Cthulu himself looked pretty good considering what a nightmare the character design is to animate what with all the tentacles.

  • One complaint: they flew all the way from SoCal to Rhode Island for a shot of HPL's rooming house (impressive composite with miniature antique cars added in the background), then built a cardboard and string swamp in someone's basement instead of just going out and shooting in a swamp somewhere.

Are there no marshes in California ?

Otherwise I was pretty pleased, they didn't monkey with the story to make it fit the 'movie formula', looking forward to more !

  • When is this shot? Cuz if it's new, maybe they wanted to get that kinda 20's silentmovie feel to it and not actually risking to destroy their equipment.

  • I beleive there are certain things perculiar to each person that they need. Not want, need.

For me, this is a NEED. XD

  • i saw cthulu on new years day he was in discise although not a good one

he was cthathy grifulith from the ancient onez D list

  • I have ordered this film from LoveFilm (Yes, they do have it) and I cannot wait. I ordered it several months ago, on high priority, and it STILL hasn't arrived. Oh well, I'll just have to wait. Cannot wait!!

  • its! cccccooooooooolllllll!

  • iss metalica song. based on the strange dreams they had...

  • Not quite. . . Google the term.

  • just watched the 47 minute film and i wish it was longer.i love the dvd extra where they show pictures from the production.lots of work went into this gem.the music was superb.

  • This film is probably one of the best Lovecraft adaptions to date. Highly recommended. Run to your DVD store and demand they order it specially for you!

    ...

    Or just use utorrent...

  • Guillermo Del Toro could possibly make an astounding Cthulhu movie.

  • He's been trying to adapt At The Mountains of Madness (my favourite Lovecraft story) for a few years, but the studios are resistant.

  • @Dubik

He's supposed to make "At the mountains of madness" I heard.

  • @Dubik Peter Jackson was going to do a film of mountains of madness, but it got cancelled

  • Cthulhu for president! Why choose the lesser evil?

  • Ia Ia Cthulhu F'Thagen

  • @introjectionate A thousand years of darkness sounds fun.

  • @introjectionate - ROFL NICE

  • You're a real litterate aren't you?

  • id like to see the guy who directed Children of Men to do it

  • This was a great film, loved it. Catches that 1920s silent era very well. There is a mainstream film coming out or is out directed by Dan Gildark, simply called Cthulhu. Doesn't look related to HPs book though.

  • you mean short story? No, that sham of movie is about how being gay is like turning into a Deep One. So, think of it as a republican who can't read.

  • This is a terrific movie. Right up there with "Metropolis".

Yes, more Lovecraft on the big screen! Just keep Quinten Tarantino and Michael Bay 100 miles away from it!

  • Michael Bay is wanting to make a remake of this

  • Well screw him and his untalented directing.

  • i'll give u that he can't direct....but special effects wise....i give him that much ya know

  • CGI is the opiate of today's masses.

  • it's also shit-on-a-stick. Also, I don't think Micael Bay is a Visual Effects director, he's a dramatic director. If he was, you couldn't give it to him because he uses CGI and not practical effects. So, he sucks either way.

  • In the same respect, I'd rather see one of them direct it than take the chance of Uwe Boll getting his hands on it.

  • I signed the online petition for Uwe Boll to stop making movies. In the comments section I wrote: "Ed Wood was Francis Ford Coppola compared to you!" I never did find out if the petition got enough signatures for him to quit or if he would quit even if it did.

  • considering he is still getting his hands on video game titles to butcher them. its doubtful.

honestly he must hate the movies he's makeing.

  • I got the dvd and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Very faithful to the original material. Makes me want more Lovecraft on the big screen.

  • Great movie
