i had an albino rat names Strawberry until last Saturday when she passed away in my arms. She was a bit sick, I had taken her to a vet. Our guess was a brain tumor since the anti-inflammatory medication didn't work. But, I could definitely see her enjoying edamame beans .. it's a shame i never got to try that! enjoy your time with Salty, she is absolutely adorable.
That's cute. I had a pet rat like that she always tilted her head because of a neurological problem. She bit sometimes but she was loving and very strong. My sister bought her before she became a feeder rat I really miss little dove/tilt. R.I.P. The moral is enjoy things while they last youtubers and remember the good times.

They are the nicest pets - they are intelligent, they know their names, they are clean, they don't bite.. and they're just plain super adorable! (They're smart as dogs - and love people - and other rats. Females go into heat every 4-5 days and males are always ready, so best to keep genders separate!)

@FaunaFairy tell about your great rat habitat. I'm looking for a really neat place to make rats feel happy and comfortable. Thought a ramp like little peole ramp /garage would make a great toy/ playground for rats.

I love PEW rats, it's great to see other rattie owners with them :) They are so common and often used as feeders (which I hate), so I'm so glad you rescued one. I also love your kitty, SO CUTE! (I have a cat too ^_^) Thanks for sharing your rattie video!
9 surgeries is a lot for a little rat to go through. We will all return to Mother Earth eventually, all we can do is be thankful for the time you had with your rat. Good luck!
I get my rats from rat rescue organizations, so they are usually free. I will always make a cash contribution to help the rat rescue organizations since they generally rely on private donations to fund their expenses. I generally donate at least $10-$20 for a rat although I could pay nothing and still get what I want. I am a strong believer in making donations to animal rescues and try to be as generous as possible.
dont get me wrong rats are very cute and loving animals ive had one before, but they absoloutly stink especially when they just shit quite happily on yah not nowing that its really starting to piss you off!!
It can be annoying, but keeping their cages clean reduces any smells significantly. I keep my rat cage in my bedroom and I don't smell it at all. I have successfully "potty trained" my rats, although I have to admit, my current rat, Dexter, does pee by mistake. If he's on my shoulder, I always have a towel under him, just in case. I'm so sorry to hear about Snowflake - I'm sure she misses you too. When I had a yard, I had a little corner where I buried all my pets who had passed. I painted their names on round stones that I found at the beach and used them to mark where each one was buried.

You are correct that rats are very social. The health and happiness of a rat depends on a variety of factors, including companionship but they can be perfectly happy by themselves with lots of love and attention from human contact. By the way, what makes you think Salty is the only rat I have?
I don't think I agree, because I went to Petco yesterday to hold 2 differnet kinds of rats. I held a black+white one, and a white one. The white one bit me. The B+W one didn't, so maybe you met a REALLY nice white rat.
i have 6 rats and I love them. they are toilet trained and love a cuddle. They changed my mind about all the disease bullshit you are taught at fucking school. They are very clean, and more intelligent than most politicians, not that that's hard!te hee!

my ratties always liked soybeans too. i would go eat sushi and bring home some for them. they also liked the sushi. i miss them so because they passed on recently. but rats make wonderful pets.
in science class we are getting 2 albino female rats but in 2 days right now today we got 2 black 1 week old babys they looked so cute and i asked my mom if i could get a rat and my mom said no way and i asked my dad and he said MAYBE!!!!! wewt
Pet rats are a huge responsibility no question about it. Perhaps this is why your parents are hesitant about allowing you to get your own. They are probably afraid that you'll lose interest and that they will end up caring for the rat. Prove to your parents that you are up for it - read books, etc, to show them that you know what to do and that you'll be a great rat owner!
She likes soybeans, huh? Maybe I should try my rats on some of them. I also like the background music, especially when the singer says 'hi guys!' and Salty looks up. Not sure if that was accidental but I thought it was cool.

I had rats few years ago, life time is very short (2 or 3 years) i was very sad when they left :(
I remember they especially loved pasta, they were running in all directions when they smelled the odor of cooking pasta :)

I'm so sorry to hear about Snowflake - I'm sure she misses you too. When I had a yard, I had a little corner where I buried all my pets who had passed. I painted their names on round stones that I found at the beach and used them to mark where each one was buried.

You can keep a rat on it's own it just needs a lotta attention. My rat is out for 6+hours a day and she is happy.

He's out of his cage from the time I get home from school to the time I go to bed (around 3:00 to 10:00.) =]

You are correct that rats are very social. The health and happiness of a rat depends on a variety of factors, including companionship but they can be perfectly happy by themselves with lots of love and attention from human contact. By the way, what makes you think Salty is the only rat I have?

I don't think I agree, because I went to Petco yesterday to hold 2 differnet kinds of rats. I held a black+white one, and a white one. The white one bit me. The B+W one didn't, so maybe you met a REALLY nice white rat.

i have 6 rats and I love them. they are toilet trained and love a cuddle. They changed my mind about all the disease bullshit you are taught at fucking school. They are very clean, and more intelligent than most politicians, not that that's hard!te hee!

nope, red (ruby) usual color of eyes of himalayan/siamese (in general - white colored) rats, and its does not matter for their behavior

Not that I've noticed. I've had all kinds of rats and I think male rats are a little more aggressive than female rats, but not always.

my ratties always liked soybeans too. i would go eat sushi and bring home some for them. they also liked the sushi. i miss them so because they passed on recently. but rats make wonderful pets.

in science class we are getting 2 albino female rats but in 2 days right now today we got 2 black 1 week old babys they looked so cute and i asked my mom if i could get a rat and my mom said no way and i asked my dad and he said MAYBE!!!!! wewt

Pet rats are a huge responsibility no question about it. Perhaps this is why your parents are hesitant about allowing you to get your own. They are probably afraid that you'll lose interest and that they will end up caring for the rat. Prove to your parents that you are up for it - read books, etc, to show them that you know what to do and that you'll be a great rat owner!

You know rats get potty trainded quicker than any cat or dog rats just know not to pee or poop on the bed.... also my rats like or no like wrinkles

She likes soybeans, huh? Maybe I should try my rats on some of them. I also like the background music, especially when the singer says 'hi guys!' and Salty looks up. Not sure if that was accidental but I thought it was cool.

I think your rats would love soybeans. It was totally a coincidence that Salty looks up at the right moment (it's Carole King singing). Hope you got a chance to check out Salty's other vidoes!
