  • hes just as good as johnny cash or waylon jennings

  • Raise the roof now! 1:23

  • I LOVE HIM! Just belts it out!

    RIP, Luke Kelly!

  • If you live a million years you'll not hear any voice with quite the power and timbre of Luke. Terrific.

They all grew beards to make it easy to remember the group. eg "We want that band with all the hair."

  • @simmo303 all i can do is agree

  • Is that Christy Moore in the crowd?

  • If you have never been to Ireland and you love the Irish you should go to Ireland and visit Belfast and Dublin. The country should be united and celebrate Chrisitiainity, Who care whether they are part of the UK or not? The point is they are Irish and as such are wonderful people,

  • classic tune

  • Red Hair = Cool

    Good Hair = Popular

    Great Friends = The Boss

    Amazing Singing = Zeus

The Ability to Make Will Ferrrell Laugh = I...I Just Can't Describe Luke Kelly. Jesus? God? An Irish Morgan Freeman?

  • geneusly

  • **red coats

  • @funkwolf1 We had the advantage of a large country they had to reach by sailing ships and they could never control given the guerrilla tactics of the Americans who had long experience from fighting Indians. And the English were obliging enough to wear read coats and march in line formation.

  • @PetroniusSatyricon69 you know, perhaps your country and people would be less hated if you didn't constantly announce your non existent superiority, and then display pride at the butchering of native americans and people from foreign countries. we would all like you a lot more if you just stopped being over patriotic, racist cunts.

  • @2doctoma sure look what the brits did to the native aborigines! If Aborigines were seen in a group of four or more they were to be shot on sight reguardless of sex or age. Then they had the check to say they brought civilization to Australia.

  • Brilliant

  • Good on you Luke....celebrating what we do best...singing and putting words together.......poetry.....

  • you all know the great Luke Kelly. and great he shall be for eternity! but dont forget the other great one across the sea. youre kin! i present Pepper Keenan from Louisiana. the singer in this vid>>>watch if you want>>"Corrosion Of Conformity-Albatross".....(warning: those who do not like aggressive music should not watch the vid).

  • Fat Irish guys singing in pubs with eyes half closed does not make a successful revoltuion.

  • @PetroniusSatyricon69 fuck you

  • @PetroniusSatyricon69 no but apparently extremely fat yanks do, what's the secret? did you all roll over the brits!

  • no he does not have an Afro; it is a Celtfro!

  • @tony10396861 I think "Mar dhea" translates as "as if"

  • @ravenheader It's not really something that translates literally. It can mean "as if", but that wouldn't make any sense in the context here. Of course they're gonna fill ya with strong drink!! That's my understanding of it anyway, I could be wrong

  • I know this song ! In 1991, I was in Ireland with my husband, it was our honey moon. What a wonderful country ! We listened the Dubliners non-stop in our car.I don't understood the songs very well because I'm French. But their songs were splendid !

    Vouaouhhhh !

  • Almost as good as the version by the Grehan Sisters!

  • and russell crow

  • thanks, thanks, thanks!!!!

  • Just discovered Luke Kelly....amazing. Check out the Foggy Dew.

  • Haha, I just saw the Will Ferrell comment! It certainly looks like him at 3.20 with way too many beers :)

  • @DanielLMurray84 I meant directly after that. I've heard "oh yeah" and "me lads" before, but it sounds like he's saying something different.

  • @supercsharp85 He says "mar dhea", pronounced "mar ya". It's a little Irish(gaelic) phrase which doesn't really translate literally into English, here it means something along the lines of "as they do" or "ya know yerself!!"

  • Anyone know what exactly he says at 3:22?

  • @supercsharp85 "feed you with strong drink"

  • In the end of the video I can see Ronnie come in from the right. I suppose the talk show continues. Is there anybody who know where I can find it?

  • Would someone tell me how he died? Thanks.

  • @MercuryWahWah brain tumour

  • Simply awesome. What a singer that man was.

  • I love this song and have to keep comming back to hear it . awseome song from a man with an awseome voice . R.I.P. Luke Kelly .

  • Who could ever match Luke Kelly? What an awesome and unforgettable talent.

  • @RobertRuhi ronnie drew ;)

  • @RottingYoda Good point, Ronnie was another master, but I would put him a close second to Luke.

  • @RobertRuhi comparing excellent to fantastic at the end of the day

  • @RobertRuhi

I know what you mean, I was watching a live version of The Merry Plowboy that Ronnie sings and Luke was the back-up vocals and all I could think is "Imagine having backing like that" (I'm a folk musician myself)

    Two amazing vocalists they are.

  • does it get any better, we all wished we could sing like that at new year lol

  • does it get any better, we all wished we could sing like that

  • @hatstalker yep it's hilarious! It did make me laugh to think of having a 'neck like a swan' was a good thing...

  • @ hatstalker having a neck like a swan is from the old irish folklore, every woman in these old stories was 'white as show, a neck like a swan and flowing yellow hair'

  • @terraheyez2k7 I am aware of the folklore background. However it's an amusing thought when you take it literally.

  • Neck like a swan? so she had a foot long neck? what a freak lol!

  • 3:21, the guy getting drinks for the table but mesmerized watching Luke is my favorite moment. That and the part where Luke sings.

  • He is so great, he almost makes me cry!

    Trelawny/NYC

  • "RAISE THE ROOF NOW!" :L

  • One word to describe Luke Kelly-legend

  • har har.

  • 3:22 LOLOLOL must be last call

  • Luke just fills the room with Awesomeness !!

  • Wouldn't i love to have 10 pints inside me listening to this man live!! Unreal!!!

  • where was ronnie at this time?

  • What the hell is Will Ferrell doing there? 3:20

  • @MamboInferno that is genius,brilliant comment

  • @MamboInferno john sheehan looks more like will ferrel in this than that dude at 3:20

  • @MamboInferno And why does he not have a cow bell with him? We need more cowbell!

  • @MamboInferno Isn't it obvious he's stocking up on youth elixir aka Guinness!

  • @55vica Ah, Guiness. Such a magical name.

  • @MamboInferno Russel Crowe at 0:45
