Honestly this is my favorite place in the whole game. Out of every game i played this song is always teh one that is the eeriest and at the same time the awesomest. Anyone who says that they are a Final Fantasy Diehard has to have played this game. If you say you are a true gamer you have to have played this game because it is one of the best games in the world.
Over ten years later and this song still gives me chills, man. There's something about the Forgotten Capital that always scared me as a kid. It was a beautiful city shaped from the ground itself, with beds and lights... but no one lived there. Jenova murdered this entire city thousands of years before you even get there.
@pricklypear3625 You love reading faux-intellectual comments, or mocking them with, "faux-intellectual" comments? Everybody has an opinion, some have opinions of how the world should work some the universe. Do opinions make you uncomfortable? Or maybe your opinion of others is more important than anyone expressing themselves. Take a pill college boy, you aren't going to get pussy with a thesis on youtube comments.
Whoa now, turn it down a notch buddy. What are you trying to prove with that reply? Are you trying to point out the obvious with the same tired "everyone has an opinion" shtick? Well how about this: it's my opinion that some of the comments I read here are fucking stupid. Do you have some sort of problem with that?
@changoso334 Basically all I'm saying is opinions are fine, but negative opinions, aren't really necessary, did you like it when I mocked your comment, or did it make you feel like I felt like an ego-centric opinionated dill-hole? If your girlfriend asks you if a dress makes her look fat, and it does, you'd find a nice way to break it to her, you wouldn't be like, "Yeah, DAMN! You're a porker, maybe you should stop eating so much snacky cakes."
You keep trying to teach me some sort of lesson, but you don't understand that I don't give a flying elephant shit if you don't like me saying "mean" things. Don't try to teach me preschool level morals like "Don't make fun of people" by trying to ridicule me and make me feel bad, because you're better off finding someone else to lay that silly stuff on.
@pricklypear3625 I'm not trying to ridicule you, it's not preschool, it's common sense man, you just stumbled on what I was trying to tell you, it's not a moral lesson, it's that you trying to sound witty and pretentious and use words like "Blathering" and "Faux-intellectual" you're just contradicting what you're saying, in YOUR ideal world people would say the things that you want them to say and think just like you, you've just done something you complained about.
@pricklypear3625 Because you think your opinion overstands everyone elses, like you have all the sense, when infact you're not making any sense, That's like me saying, "I fucking hate people on youtube that fucking curse all the fucking time, GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!" You just didn't understand what I was saying, that's okay.
You have no idea what I was trying to accomplish. if anything, with my first comment. You read a few lines from someone and assumed you knew the reasoning behind it all and knew the person to boot. According to you someone is pretentious if they use certain words, that's ridiculous and you know better than that. Wait, I don't know if you know better than that, because I don't know you. Now do -you- see what -I- mean?
It's spooky to think that there could be so many cities we call home in our day and age which would one day become just like this city; forgotten cities and capitals taken with different amount of interest by the native population.

I love this game. It has an amazing story with great characters and gameplay. A lot of people flame the "fanboys" of this game because the game is "overrated", yet they never stop to think why it's so popular. I have many friends who don't have the patience or the brain capacity to understand RPG's, so I think it's a real shame that not everyone can enjoy this game without saying "WHERE DO I GO!!??" or "I DUN GET THIS, HOW DO I ATTACK!!???".
I remember this scene where they're all in the highwind, talking about the meteor, and you actually hear the planet crying, it used to creep me out ! Good old times where video games could transport you in an another universe !
sounds like something you would hear if you entered a town you were just in last night and when you returned it was nothing but ruins with no bodies or anything
I like how we are like a community. Although we don't know each other physically, we have all shared the same memories with this game. This game was just that amazing.

@catapult9876 True, although, nowadays you don't need music to get sucked into the game's atmosphere if the atmosphere itself is well-made with a high level of detail. Such as ambient sounds etc etc. Still, music plays an important role in making certain scenes more memorable and epic. Demon's / Dark Souls is an excellent example - the boss fights. Anywho, I totally agree with you on the graphics part.. Some people adore the graphics WAY too much... ._.

war..hurting..blood..killing..destroying.. really i hate Call of duty.
My friend is so addicted to Black ops, that he skips atleast twice a week from school to play that sucky ass game.. Cause this year is very important to us, we need to graise our grades to get to high school. i have said him like 2390283 times that focus to school. so this song reminds me of him, that his future will be dark. VERY dark..
@Gracking666 The game itself is not so much an issue, but his attitude towards his education is. He's wasting so many opportunities for his future. But, trust me, I've known people like that, and there's often little you can do to convince them otherwise. Don't worry, though, everyone has a place in this world, and they get there eventually.
@Gracking666 If I can tell from my own experience, it's a lack of personal motivation. I was going through something similar some time ago and I know, that you can't change people like him directly. You can show him only the way, how he can change himself... the rest is up to him.
The first Call of Duty was released on PC back in 2003, but FF7 was released on the PS1 back in 1997. You're dating yourself, Lowai. Am I the only one who played this on the original Playstation back in the 90's, and not on some "PSN FF7" download in 2009 and beyond?
@bubbagump562001 Nope you are not the only one. I was born in 96 so i didnt played it back at yea r97 but i used to watch by brother play. But now i have it n ps3, and im sad, that i didnt experience it with the best years.
@bubbagump562001 i did my friend gave this to me he is like 25 and im 17 and his cousin gave it to him and i loved this game with a passion. Then i lost it so i bought it on psn but whoever made this game has a inhuman imagination and i love it. After ff7 they didnt make a game like this story wise again. I mean come on a crazy demon guy with long white hair (sephorith) is trying to become a god by summoning black materia(a fuckin metor) to absorb enough energy to well become a god
@1994theron I dunno; Final Fantasy 9's villain was pretty damn meta. Near the end of the game, he gave up trying to control the game's summon magic, and ended up with a Trance form, which is the game's freaking LIMIT BREAK SYSTEM. I don't know how many other villains could do that.
@1994theron I know many will disagree with me about this, but I loved the story for FF8 more than 7. Although 7 is still better than almost every popular video games story.
@plamm999 really lol why? i didnt think it was anything special, although the enviorment they where constantly in was fuckin crazy. Like a floating school
@1994theron Just something about 8 drew me in, and that had me getting the game in 2 days for my first play through. After thinking a bit more than I did before previous post, maybe they are too different to compare. 7's is definitely a more memorable story.
@Gracking666 From You can hear the Cry of the planet to... cry of a friend trying to help a friend. Hope you talk some sense into your bud dude. good luck!
@Gracking666 It's not Call of Duty's fault your friends responsibilities are out of whack. I'm not saying its by any means a great game, but your friend is playing it that much because he's a lazy bastard, not becaue that game has some magically addicting crack formula for making people play their games. Sorry bout your friend, but don't fool yourself into thinking its anything's fault but his own.
@Gracking666 stop worrying about his life and worry about your own. Its his own decision. get over it. only he will know in time if he made the wrong decision. nothing is great if you felt you were forced into it.
l have been reading the comments and was agreeing about how we humans screwing up planet and such but then l thought of big picture whats it matter anyways at some point this planet gunna be sucked into a blackhole or something and be destroyed any ways lol
The truth about human beings and there origins is that they are foreigners
They actually do not belong on planet Earth
This is why each and everyone on of us can hear the planet cry if we truly listened
We know what we are doing on planet Earth and to ourselves is wrong but we just don't care because it is within our own DNA not to care. We simply see this planet as a temporary stop, a chance to fund certain projects at the expense of not just the planets life but human life iswell
a remake of this would only be good if cloud had box hands....
jk, SERIOUS MOMENT: only would be good if everything (and i mean everything) stayed the same, just updated graphics, with higher quality versions of the music
I agree with gMemo92, a remake wouldn't really be that good. There's so much magic in the original. The graphic style, while cartoony, actually fits the style of the game, the lack of voice-acting allows you to picture the characters in your interpretation, and really, Square would just find a way to mess it up. The remake of the opening was cool and all, but plugging in my PS1 and actually seeing the opening in it's original form just seems a lot more magical and personal.
Today its all about graphics. In some games the graphics are so good that you can count every singe hair if you want. BUT WHO NEEDS IT? Whats about the feelings!? The story!? The music!? I don´t want to say that all the new games are bad but i spend so much money for the games and none of them touched my heart like this or give me a reason to play it again. I play FF7 four times a year. In winter, spring, summer and fall. Since release...
When I first played this game I fell in love with the city of the Ancients: so much history, forgotten knowledge, lore, hopes, dreams and life. Not only that but the story of a lone researcher in disc 2 who tried to translate the centra writings. Solitude in such a mystical place with so much knowledge just waiting to be discovered for the first time, sounds awesome.
I wonder if any of our cities will be like this in a centuries time.
@PG1337ify wow way to be a dick, everyone can react to the music however they want you don't need to be an asshole to someone who is moved in an odd way by something that we all appreciate
What do I hear when this song plays? A lost civilization, the words of planet noone can hear, oh, and spending hours in the the lost city hoping Aeris would come back to life somehow
Why does everybody want a remake? It wont change the fact that Final Fantasy 7 is Final Fantasy 7 for the psx. And it wont have the same feeling as the original game.
I love the game because of it soundtrack , graphics. Yes i like the graphics, its not i think their necessarily good, but all of those tiny aspects give the game a certain feeling.
For instance, if they used different soundfonts, the whole game would get a different feeling, even if the songs would remain the same.
The graphics gave the game a fantasy feeling, I personally don't believe games should be so much like real life, if you want real life, go outside. FF7's graphics leave so much more room for you to imagine, the creatures, the characters and their voices, the places; you play half the game in your head and the rest you actually play.
@mirrorpiece Another thing, had this game had perfect graphics, do you really think it would have given birth to the more recent art? the people covering the music, the people drawing a life-like image of certain characters, etc... It's all part of the growth of the game into an actual masterpiece, an eternal one.
I love this soundtrack so much. Nobuo Uematsu is the reason I started writing music, I heard his music 14 years ago and haven't stopped writing since.
@ramigomontana I thought 12 had a good story but, the party charaters were kinda bland and I was on Venat's side by the end of it. The Empire didn't seem that evil really, which was a more mature way to go, but it seemed like the evil that did happen was forced and unnecessary. I mean they had won the war why kill the king? Just absorb the state like they had done to all the others.
I can't say about 13 I've stopped playing final fantasy games 12 wasn't good enough to make me want to carry on.
@fayers189 Exactly...I also stopped playing FFXII in the middle of the game, because it was really shitty to me...and I also didn't play FFXIII.It was not the FF atmosphere I used to play and feel like.
@gMemo92 No, make the game so it can have advent children graphics. Then make them have voices, too. Then I will be satisfied. And make the voices be Japanese only. The English voices sucked.
@tlevy2654 - Not all of us understand Japanese, I think the Crisis Core graphics would suffice! Especially the cut scene CGI. I so want a FFVII remake :(
@gMemo92 Well, they SHOULD make a remake, but the only differences should be the graphics, and there should be voice acting. The music, script, places, and battles should all remain the same freakin' way.
@TidusTehSacrificer just like any one else i would love to see a remake, but its not going to happen. and to the charm of final fantasy 7 its graphics are unique no other game is like ff7 isnt that what makes it so special? unique games having always been the best ones created. its the if we ate pie every night it wouldn't be special scenario.
@TidusTehSacrificer I mean that final fantasy 7's graphics help make it final fantasy 7. in the very same aspect, minecraft's graphics help to make it minecraft. It adds to both a nostalgia factor, and to, in my opinion, overall aesthetics.
@gMemo92 u know i thought the same if square enix remake this they will surely fuck up the whole game, but if they did a great game with crisis core, maybe with this too
@TheToilet21 You have such negative comments mate, telling people to 'STFU' and 'GTFO Bitch'... Your slating people that are expressing opinions, and sharing what they feel.. oh and heres the lowest part, You hating on a 12 year old kid for asking people to stop with hateful comments, hes clearly upset yet you still do it.. P.S In my opinion : 1. This is a real Game. 2. The next gen can rot in hell, The last historic game to be released on Ps3/360/Wii was .......... 3. Your a massive wasteman :)
@gMemo92 no matter how useless a remake would be it would of course not destroy the original in any way... so i think thats a wierd thing to say why they should not remake it. i doubt squeenix as they are now would be able to make a good one, but of course i still would like it! why not?
@gMemo92 A strange thing I've noticed about the comments on the FFVII OST videos and FFVII AC OST videos is that it seems like the majority of those listening to AC are saying that they would love a remake, whereas on the original OST more people are saying that a remake would ruin it.
I'm not trying to hate on the AC-lovers, but it says something, doesn't it?
I remember being hit by this track the most when I was first playing the game...and now I've finally got round to finding it on the internet...wow, amazing...
@randomusername27 Fine. 3 People were killed while trying to listen to the cry of the planet. Instead, they heard themselves cry. Thinking their own cry was part of the song, they disliked before their inevitable doom.
War, hatred, segregation... Prejudice intolerance... Religious extremists... Atheist extremists... It's like all humans really want to do is fight... Fresh water decreasing in quantity... Ozone layer in pain... Pointing fingers... Losing trust... Avoiding responsibility... Loss of the Planet's green and blue... Lust... Greed... Pride... Loss of sight on our true objective... The planet is almost dead... We're to blame... We're no different from those burning in hell... Can you hear..?
@ZentetsukenVII I was just thinking that. It's really weird. I mean the music alone just makes you feel like you are in the game. A game this good only comes like every decade or so and this is the only game I've played that has this much emotion, and so strong too. I mean there are other games that are amazing and I love them, but nothing will ever come close to as real as this.
@untouch59 People like you are killing the planet. You represent the Kali-Yuga, you value quantity of human life (egalitarianism, pacifism, democracy, modernism) over quality of all life.
What are the people below crying about?
Let's all enjoy some good FF7 music like good nerds! :)

@Gracking666
The first Call of Duty was released on PC back in 2003, but FF7 was released on the PS1 back in 1997. You're dating yourself, Lowai. Am I the only one who played this on the original Playstation back in the 90's, and not on some "PSN FF7" download in 2009 and beyond?
bubbagump562001 3 months ago
@bubbagump562001 Nope you are not the only one. I was born in 96 so i didnt played it back at yea r97 but i used to watch by brother play. But now i have it n ps3, and im sad, that i didnt experience it with the best years.
Gracking666 3 months ago
@bubbagump562001 i did my friend gave this to me he is like 25 and im 17 and his cousin gave it to him and i loved this game with a passion. Then i lost it so i bought it on psn but whoever made this game has a inhuman imagination and i love it. After ff7 they didnt make a game like this story wise again. I mean come on a crazy demon guy with long white hair (sephorith) is trying to become a god by summoning black materia(a fuckin metor) to absorb enough energy to well become a god
1994theron 2 months ago
@1994theron I dunno; Final Fantasy 9's villain was pretty damn meta. Near the end of the game, he gave up trying to control the game's summon magic, and ended up with a Trance form, which is the game's freaking LIMIT BREAK SYSTEM. I don't know how many other villains could do that.
TheHeroHartmut 1 month ago
@1994theron I know many will disagree with me about this, but I loved the story for FF8 more than 7. Although 7 is still better than almost every popular video games story.
plamm999 1 month ago
@plamm999 really lol why? i didnt think it was anything special, although the enviorment they where constantly in was fuckin crazy. Like a floating school
1994theron 1 month ago
@1994theron Just something about 8 drew me in, and that had me getting the game in 2 days for my first play through. After thinking a bit more than I did before previous post, maybe they are too different to compare. 7's is definitely a more memorable story.

ugie1028 2 months ago
@Gracking666 It's not Call of Duty's fault your friends responsibilities are out of whack. I'm not saying its by any means a great game, but your friend is playing it that much because he's a lazy bastard, not becaue that game has some magically addicting crack formula for making people play their games. Sorry bout your friend, but don't fool yourself into thinking its anything's fault but his own.

Jasperdog420 4 months ago

Since release...

nikotinrausch 5 months ago
When I first played this game I fell in love with the city of the Ancients: so much history, forgotten knowledge, lore, hopes, dreams and life. Not only that but the story of a lone researcher in disc 2 who tried to translate the centra writings. Solitude in such a mystical place with so much knowledge just waiting to be discovered for the first time, sounds awesome.
I wonder if any of our cities will be like this in a centuries time.

@Ricky11435 yes but they requested him to come back and he did... eviddant in the fact that he did the scores for FFXIV
anamAlister 6 months ago
Why does everybody want a remake? It wont change the fact that Final Fantasy 7 is Final Fantasy 7 for the psx. And it wont have the same feeling as the original game.
I love the game because of it soundtrack , graphics. Yes i like the graphics, its not i think their necessarily good, but all of those tiny aspects give the game a certain feeling.
For instance, if they used different soundfonts, the whole game would get a different feeling, even if the songs would remain the same.
mirrorpiece 6 months ago
@mirrorpiece definitely agree with you there.
The graphics gave the game a fantasy feeling, I personally don't believe games should be so much like real life, if you want real life, go outside. FF7's graphics leave so much more room for you to imagine, the creatures, the characters and their voices, the places; you play half the game in your head and the rest you actually play.
saedt 6 months ago
@mirrorpiece Another thing, had this game had perfect graphics, do you really think it would have given birth to the more recent art? the people covering the music, the people drawing a life-like image of certain characters, etc... It's all part of the growth of the game into an actual masterpiece, an eternal one.
saedt 6 months ago

After FFX there's nothing good...don't get me wrong but you guys don't want to tell me that FFXII and FFXIII are good games...
ramigomontana 6 months ago 7
@ramigomontana I thought 12 had a good story but, the party charaters were kinda bland and I was on Venat's side by the end of it. The Empire didn't seem that evil really, which was a more mature way to go, but it seemed like the evil that did happen was forced and unnecessary. I mean they had won the war why kill the king? Just absorb the state like they had done to all the others.
I can't say about 13 I've stopped playing final fantasy games 12 wasn't good enough to make me want to carry on.
fayers189 6 months ago
@fayers189 Exactly...I also stopped playing FFXII in the middle of the game, because it was really shitty to me...and I also didn't play FFXIII.It was not the FF atmosphere I used to play and feel like.

why a remake? when you have the real thing here.
no one will copy what Square soft did. This is forever. Besides if they do a remake it won't be the same thing again.
Leave it like that. That way FF7 can stay as a legendary game of all time
gMemo92 7 months ago 41
@gMemo92 No, make the game so it can have advent children graphics. Then make them have voices, too. Then I will be satisfied. And make the voices be Japanese only. The English voices sucked.
tlevy2654 6 months ago in playlist Final Fanatsy VII/Advent Children
@tlevy2654 - Not all of us understand Japanese, I think the Crisis Core graphics would suffice! Especially the cut scene CGI. I so want a FFVII remake :(
EnviousHardcore 6 months ago
@gMemo92 took the words right out of my mind :)
Jasperdog420 5 months ago
@gMemo92 Well, they SHOULD make a remake, but the only differences should be the graphics, and there should be voice acting. The music, script, places, and battles should all remain the same freakin' way.
THAT'S A GAME I WOULD BUY. xD

@TidusTehSacrificer just like any one else i would love to see a remake, but its not going to happen. and to the charm of final fantasy 7 its graphics are unique no other game is like ff7 isnt that what makes it so special? unique games having always been the best ones created. its the if we ate pie every night it wouldn't be special scenario.
otaku1229 5 months ago
@TidusTehSacrificer I mean that final fantasy 7's graphics help make it final fantasy 7. in the very same aspect, minecraft's graphics help to make it minecraft. It adds to both a nostalgia factor, and to, in my opinion, overall aesthetics.
Rikiunne 5 months ago
@gMemo92 u know i thought the same if square enix remake this they will surely fuck up the whole game, but if they did a great game with crisis core, maybe with this too

@gMemo92 no matter how useless a remake would be it would of course not destroy the original in any way... so i think thats a wierd thing to say why they should not remake it. i doubt squeenix as they are now would be able to make a good one, but of course i still would like it! why not?
vinnievincent85 4 months ago
@gMemo92 they would be stupid not to remake. all they would have to do is keep the plot exactly.. keep the materia system exactly.. and all is well.
OptikBlast 4 months ago
@gMemo92 A strange thing I've noticed about the comments on the FFVII OST videos and FFVII AC OST videos is that it seems like the majority of those listening to AC are saying that they would love a remake, whereas on the original OST more people are saying that a remake would ruin it.
I'm not trying to hate on the AC-lovers, but it says something, doesn't it?
